Its about time i start one of these...

INFO!>:

BOx size is aprox. 38"x11"x45"

These babies were started on the 28th of december.

Right now the babies are under 2 40w cfls running 24hours the past 4 days. Once theyre alittle older ill plug in the 150watt hps i have ontop. I just plugged in the timer so they will get there first "night" tonight. Ill run 18/6 the next 3 weeks, maybe longer. Right now theyre in rockwool and sitting in a pan with a little bit of water. Tomorrow my 3" pots should arrive so ill be about to put them in the bucket. Along with my GrowBig! Hurruah. RIght now with just the cfls, two 120mm cpu fans keep the box at a nice 80°F. Durring the test run, my 50cfm bath fan(lol) kept the whole rig at 75. Fun FUn

as this being my very first hydro grow let me say that i am thoroughly impressed with the improved growth.. last night i took them out of the container and finally put then into the 3" net pots. the nutes are at a ratio of 2 teaspoons per 5 gallons. thats what the container said.. :dunce: however with the adjustments they seem to have grown double the rate. light cycle still 18-6

so here is plant one now on the... 9th day of veg..

plant two.

and finally plant three..

what the rig looks like as of now..

also.. my final idea for a filter...

on the side of the rig is a bath fan pushing 50 cfm.. my buddy brought home this filter from his work he says they use in a smoke evaluator in the hospital were he works. so i think it shall work. hook it up to some flexible ducting and waalaa!..

really cant wait to see what tomorrow brings.. heading over to the head shop tomorrow am to get a new ash catcher too.. oh boy!

Made the jump and subscribed.

Are you going to scrog it? If so, flat or curved?
to be honest i understand scrogging to a degree per se.... meaning i get a flat screen but i dont quite understand the benefits/differences of either one. so totally up for discussion im sure i got a couple weeks before i through one on..

In order to scrog you need to be able to change out the nutes without disturbing the plants on the screen. In your case the screen needs to be attached to the lid of the tote.

A standard scrog is flat horizontal screen. RobbieP has a great example of one in flower going at the moment
https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/462086-my-lazy-arsed-grow-journal-16.html#post6823777

On the other end is a vertical scrog.
Something like this
https://www.rollitup.org/vertical-growing/496269-250w-vert-club.html#post6792479

And in between there are people running scrogs shaped like a v or a u.

The vertical scrog runs the bulb vertically with no hood on it. this way all light is used and is equal all the way around.

The issue with a flat scrog is that the light intensity around the edges aren't as good as directly under the bulb. So as a sort of compromise some people do the u or v shape. This way the light intensity is more uniform across the entire screen.

Skim through the top couple of posts here that are copied from elsewhere

voidling!!
thanks for the info! ive looked into the vert scrog and right not it doesnt seem practical but i love the light usage!! next ima look at the u/v screen.. thats most likely what ill do bc i get the light penetration part...

soo... an up date ...

i turned the hps on yesterday to join the 2 40w cfls... so now total for 18 hours a day, my babies get 230 watts total.. the temps around the plant are being held at 80°F
and so far it seems like they responded wonderfully!! lets see these results..
bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie more bong hits!!! btw i bought a new ash catcher for the bong the other day... super smiles!!!

any ways...

plant one...

plant two..

... just a thought... you notice that "burn spot".. anyone have any idea what that could be?
its not the closest to the light... maybe from the nuets? but non other have it.. right now the dilution of growbig is just a bit under 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. the recommended is 1/2 teaspoon per gallon for seedlings.. so idk..
:dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce:
but anyways......
plant three...

.... and always... a shot of the cab and what im smokin.... :) today its twiggy., my favorite bowl..

soo... today i figured out its officially two weeds since germination!!! hurrah..
ill toke to that.
bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

So i looked at them before work today around 0730.. light comes on around 0500 so thayve had some light for the day. and dayum are these babies growing!
after 12 hours of work i come home and of course do a check up and they must have grown about an inch in diameter. :) anny who..

sorry guys.. no pics today.... :(

but plant one right now has the least amount of vigor.. i think ill name this one addie... anyways its starting its 3rd good set but its atleast an inch shorter than the rest.. even with the roots, theyve just barely broke through the net pot. maybe an inch or so out.. how ever it does hold a nice green to it..

plant one.. izzy.. is doing good.. starting on the fourth set of leaves.. id say about 3-4" tall. the root development is outstanding.. 10" easily... plus how much they span out.. this ones lighter than addie and the bottom set of leaves has some moderate burning.. they feel crisspie.. :( and the second one has some minor burning.. im trying to figure it out.. hopefully some more symptoms show soon..

and the awesome thing about plant three is that its awesome.. also theres no burning.. this ones definatly the tallest, most developed 4th set of leaves. the color is the same green as izzy, but again no burning.. the roots are also most developed.. atleast 10 inches and branch out so much.. a very nice white.. the bubbles are awesome!!! i think i name this one..... optimus prime!...

lucky me brought home some dry ice from work yesterday so ive been putting it in a cup and letting it evaporate.. the fan probably gets rid of it at to fast of a rate but its got to help someone.. co2 is good. :)

screen is gettting worked on this sunday on my wonderful day off. i think ive deceded on just a flat screen. . as my first serious attempt id like to just stay basic and adjust things next time. .yah know.. to learn .. and something like that... with this progress im super excited.. only other thing i really want to add is a small fan to move the plants abit. right now they pretty much stand still. but id need something small. hurrah.. untill next time.

sweet.! i cant believe how these things grow!!

these pics are from last night.. for some reason i couldnt get onto imageshack but that has now changed..

Tomorrow im going to go out and buy a new bucket to use while i clean the usual one.. this time ill put in regular strength, 2tsp/gal instead of .5tsp/gal.. its going to be awesome.. the roots are doing very well except i notice where some light makes it though to the roots, and inhibits their growth.. very strong growth in the middle, poor on the outsides.. gotta be fixed.. currently pondering..

addie..

izzy..

this one here is of izzy's burning.. :(

optimus prime....

roots... you ask??

bongsmiliebongsmilie bongrips and some adele.
