1000w 2 plants SCRog, -PITBULL- 1st timer^^
hello Rollitup
I am a first time grower, growing two Pitbull clones in a scrog screen. I am a medical patient and stopped pain pills last month and want to grow for myself so i can smoke like a champ and not pay out the ass lol. Im retired Military so i have a LOT of free time and want this to be my main hobby for ever after^^
Its set up in the bathroom in the master bedroom, im venting the hood heat out the exhaust fan with 6" flex duct. Room temp was a bit high for the first day(95+) but i got it down to 77-81 now with a fan blowing out the air and the Ac cranked >.<
OK so here's my set up:

Thats the scrog screen the hood and the general layout. Also some pics of the clones and some of the leaf damage(is that normal).
Day 1:
Put up the ducting ASAP, woke up and turned on the lights and it got to 102 within 10 minutes, put up ducting and it was down to 81 in about 30 minutes, crisis 1 averted.
I over watered them i think also lol..... they felt dry after being under such hot heat. But after getting water they drooped like crazy.

Day 2:
Morning temp was 86, opened the door and it cooled down to 77 within 10 minutes.
Plants look FAR better after resting over night and drying out some, i def over watered. Gonna let them dry for a bit before re-watering i think.
Temps seem to be under control, just worried about what a friend told me....
She says that Vegging under 1000w MH isnt good, its too much for the plants etc. But im doing a 2 plants scrog so im trying to get ALOT of veg growth to fill the screen i have......or am i wrong??
Here are day 2 pics so far

Thoughts so far??? Thanx in advance for all advise and comments.

my first thought would be that you have some pretty small pots for the amount of space it looks like your going for, I suggest the following:
1. 3-5 gallon pots, and water only every 3rd-5th day, I water thoroughly each time, your girls will need a little less cause they dont yet have much foliage.
2. I would lower the grid your growing them into, and weave the plants through the grid, forcing them to grow sideways like a trelace, this will maximize your use of space since you only have the two plants. and allow for the most evenly distributed light. start by just bending the main stem to the side with a twist tie.
-
basically get that screen down and start bending,

I used a 1000w MH for my veg cycle but I also use a dimmable ballast which allowed me to turn down the wattage to 50% or 75%. I ran the first week of veg at 75% for 24 hours. Then did my next 2 weeks at 100% power under the 18/6 cycle. The only bad thing that happened was my hood was too close and I ended up with a few small burn marks on 2 of my 12 plants. Not a huge deal, just had to raise my hood a few inches.
Let them dry out real good before you water next and you should be fine. I found that the hardest thing about doing a first grow is feeling out the plants feed schedule. They all seem to act differently. You have a good setup so you should have some beauties in no time. Subb'd
Edit: Best advice is to read. If you think you learned something, keep reading. There is a shit load of good info here on RIU. You'll just have to find what works best for you. Good luck

Ya i forgot to mention the pots..... i have 3.7 gallon pots, but was waiting a day or so to replant, gonna do it today or tomorrow. They will touch the screen when replanted i premeasured ^^
-
Should i repot them now???? I fear "shocking" them. I am 50/50 on doing it now and getting them up into the netting asap...thoughts.
and thanx Dubbzor ur grows are an inspiration ^^
I have been reading and rereading so much my eyes hurt, but there is nothing more exciting then learning about something you are super interested in. Thanks for your info cheers

How long have they been in the pots they're in now? Leaving them where they are now for another day or two won't hurt. Once you transplant them into their bigger pots they will have some sort of shock. After your transplant you might not notice any new growth for up to a week, which is completely normal so don't freak out lol

I just repotted them, put them into 3.7 gallon pots, there is an inch from the top of the soil to the edge of the pot itself. Im at about 1/2 inch form the screen, so after they get over the transport shock they should hit the screen soon.
they already look sad and droopy again, but thnks for saying that i was starting to freak out....
I am trying to be VERY careful not to fuck this up, trying to hit my goal of 4 Oz out of this set up. Hopefully^^
Ill be taking pics of the new pots when the wifey gets home with the car....\
Cheers

im still having temp fluctuations between 76-86 I know those are all within norms, but is that 10 degrees flux bad?? I love in the desert and its hot as shit right now, so when teh ac is not running the temp goes to 85 or so then drops to 79 or so with the ac on...is that bad?
They seem to be doing pretty well after the transplant, i could have put more soil in, they are about .5 inches lower than where i want them but oh well......
they are about an inch form the screen im gonna put something under them and start to train them tomorrow.
No shit tho.....growing is stressful at first, so scared to mess up and kill them. I named them and have been playing them music since last night, Nick Drake, Sage Francis, Mac Lethal, Aesop Rock and Drum and Bass...they seem happy for just being shocked,,,,,cheers all
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lights on in my room this week the temp was up to 93F, last night had a high of 89. Lights out it gets to about 80-91. Your temps are fine. You should probably hold off on the training and let them grow into the screen themselves. It's up to you but you sound like how I was lol I always felt like I had to do something. It didn't matter what just as long as it was something. Chill homie, you'll have plenty of time to do cool stuff to them. Let those roots dig into their new pots for a few days before you attempt training.
What kind of soil are you using?
I don't know who those people are but my plants get to listen to smooth jazz every day lol
