I know it's not easy to do, but you want to get those fluorescents as close as you can without them touching. and you might need to rig up some chains and hooks to lower those HPS/HID lights.

That is unusual. You need to do some reading on proper lighting.
For (artificial) light, there is a law that always applies known as the Inverse Square Law. It states that light diminishes exponentially in energy as the distance is increased from the source. A good example is that you might be getting 1000 PAR Watts at 4" from your light source, but that would change to 250 PAR Watts at double the distance (8"). This law makes it EXTREMELY important for indoor plant growers to get their light source as close as possible to their plants. The amount of light your plant receives is directly related to it's yield/flower density. |

Its approx day 15, give or take a few days. After reading responses, I've learned that these plants need some direct light. For plant 1 i elevated the plant. For plant 2 i hung it (giving it a LOT of direct sunlight) Is this good, or too close? heres the new pics.
Cheers okay...well after about 5-6 minutes of this plant 2 started shriveling up so i took it off of the strings and its on the table next to plant 1 |

promised i'd check your journal - well not too bad a start. Bear in mind what the others have said. Now that you've lowered the plants you should be ok. Check out some of the lighting threads on this site as they will come in useful. Ideally you don't want them to stretch too much at the start as it will cause a weaker stem.
Best of luck mate!

The test I've been told for HPS. Not sure if you have those or HID, but the test is to put your hand above the plant for about 10 seconds. It shouldn't be painful. If it is, then you need to move the light higher or plant lower.

the lights i believe are neither hid, mh, or hps. Theyre G.E. 150 watt lights. Flourescent i believe. So far theyve been alright im planning on investing in a 150 watt HPS light when they grow and need more light.

day seventeen isn't looking to good. One plant is all shriveled up and undeniably dead and the health plant has fallen over. I had to replant the big plant and water it. here are the pics It seems like it would have been better if the lights were still far away like they were the begining of day 16.
