They're 3 weeks old (since putting in to germinate) exactly BTT.
Ordered myself a more blue spectrum bulb that'll run from my HPS ballast this evening, hoping that'll help decrease internode spacing on future growth keeping them bushy (on the advice of babygro). Also got a pH tester kit

Hi all.
Just thought i'd post some pics showing the growth my babies have been doing over the weekend. I popped home, came back and they'd noticeably gotten bigger - love that.









So, do they look alright to you? I'm also wondering when to start nutes again. I had an incident with nute burn so stopped as I discovered my medium had nutes in. When do people think the nutes will have leached out by?

Hi everyone.
I had a bit of a fuck up today (not really through any fault of my own). Basically i've got a nasty bit of tonsilitis so have been bed bound for the last 2 days. Last night my housemates caused a powercut, but i was infever-land so had no idea til 5pm today when I finally managed to get out of bed to check on the garden. Because of the trip switch on the power, when the cut happened, the trip went, so basically the garden's had no light til 5pm today. I'm REALLY hoping that this won't cause flowering. Once the flowering process has begun, can you stop it? When i was looking at the plants today I saw a couple of what looked like the little spikes that appear when flowering begins. I hope they're just new growth tips, but I don't know...
So can anyone tell me if this will have started them flowering, and if it's reversible? Cheers

its no prob at all just continue with your old schedule and everything will be fine, if a plant is flowering and has too much light for too long a period it will revert back to vegetation stage

Thanks nongreenthumb, you've really put my mind to rest! Thank Jah for that - I was worried i'd be having to flower plants that were only about a month old! Gonna watch Borat now, thake my mind off the fact that my throat feels like someone's taken a rusty cheese-grater to it...

So, it's been a long time since i've posted, and I wanna show everyone what's been going down!
I switched onto 12/12 on the 1st of this month, within a week I'd removed 5 males out of 12 plants, I have 6 confirmed females, and there's one obstinate bugger who still hasn't shown! I spose I shouldn't be surprised, as these plants seem to have a fair bit of phenotypic variation. You get what you pay for eh.
I'm gonna post some pics for other people just starting out so they can see what stuff's useful, then i'll post some plant pics.
So, here's a moisture meter I picked up 2nd hand from a popular online bidding site...

Here are the fans that're keeping my grow room air fresh. There's also another extracting at the top. They're 12cm fans originally from computers, linked up to mobile phone chargers

This is how I made it:
Got a plastic storage box from a supermarket, lined the bottom with black plastic, the sides and top with C3. Cut a 12cm diameter holein either end and screwed on a 12cm computer fan rigged to mobile phone charger bolwing IN one end, which I covered with an air filter. Got a cheap desk lamp from the same supermarket, screw fitting. Got a 105w energy saving bulb from my favourite online auction site. Plugged both the fan and light into a 24hr timer, and set it for 18/6. I root clones with clonex in rockwool cubes. My success rate isn't great so far, so any comments or advice welcome

Here's a shot showing some pistils. Hopefully it'll help some new growers with sex recognition. The pistils are the fine white hairs,


So some more advanced stuff (I say advanced, probably more 'experimental'). I need some advice from any experienced growers out there.
Firstly, my plants are getting pretty tall for my grow room, and my light's reaching it's vertical limit. I decided to experiment with some training. I tied down some of the lower branches of one plant as an experiment, just to see how it works.


Another little experiment. I had loads of LED bike lights lying around, so I thought i'd see if they increased budding.
