1st Grow, 4 CFL`s vs. 4 Plants

Hello all, Well here`s the story. A friend of mine dropped by and said "here`s some clones" (4), I have never grown, I had a little knowledge but no $$$ to get a setup going :-(. So I threw them in the closet with 2 40w CFL`s, lots of water and some nutes. Oh and a fan, 3 are indicia and there is a tall sativa in the back right. Most basic setup ever, but the girls look pretty :bigjoint:

They stayed in there for three months then I added another two CFL bulbs and switched the light cycle to 12/12 last week.

I know this is a "journal" and not a forum, but does anyone have any advise on if I should top during this first week of flowering or is it too late? I`ve heard of during Veg, but also heard only 1 week into flowering? Any Ideas?

Here are some pics of their 1st week flowering:

I will post more pics in a week....

It's too late ,that would delay flowering and might cause them to herm . They look good ,just let them flower out and next time try some techniques such as topping or training while in veg . You should add some more cfl's while your flowering , light up the sides of the plant too or it will all be popcorn . +rep

I would just let them go from here man. I know you said you are on a budget but you can double your yeild by spending a few more bucks and double your lights, and the lights you have need to be right on top of the plants, I mean RIGHT on top, trust me add a few light and get them much closer it will make the grow a little more worth it. Good luck!

One more quick thing, since you did veg for three months I would think about transfering to bigger pots, those roots are probably out of room already.

Thanks for info everybody, I was already thinking of the larger pots, but wasnt sure if I should transplant during 2nd week of flowering of not.. might shock too much during flowering.

Also I will be either buying two more CFL`s, or I can get a 400w Metal Halide. But im not sure if adding the MH bulb is something I should be adding during 2nd week of flowering either? Will this shock my plants?

Also started with Optimum Hydroponic`s Bloom nutes this week, only half does`s since theyre liquid nutes and the girls have only had small cheap nute sticks in their soils so far.

Hell yeah add the 400 it wont shock them they will thank you ! Just start it off up high and lower it some every day to introduce them to the light . And yeah you are right transplanting now would possibly delay flowering . You could "double pot " .This is basically finding another pot that your pot will sit in but not fall all the way down .Then you carefully cut the bottom of your pot out with a razor blade then you can fill the new pot up to where your pot will sit allowing for the roots to have fresh soil to grow into ! Peace :bigjoint:
