The Miracle-Grow!

This is a story about 4 friends.

I've yet to do a journal entry all the way through so here we go with my first seedling to harvest journal!

Here's the run down on these 4 little tykes =)

This is a CFL/HPS grow. These little guys will be granted an extensive Veg time of roughly 8-10 weeks total (going to depend on the girls I currently have in my flower room). We will begin an LST regiment if/when the times comes where space becomes an issue. These guys will be vegging under 312 watts of 6500k CFL light on a 24/0 schedule. Temperature in the cab stays between 75-78 degrees. These are not feminized seeds so we will need to sex them later, but we'll deal with that bump when it gets here.

Medium used on this grow is strictly Miracle-Gro Potting Mix/Perlite. There are no other additives. They will be given PH adjusted Tap water through Veg (I have Jack's Classic 20-20-20 with micronutes on hand for later on if the Miracle-Gro eventually causes any nute deficiency)

So pull up a chair and stay a while! I'll be updating this thread weekly with pics and discuss how the grow is coming along.

These 4 little guys were transplanted into roughly 1 gallon of Miracle-Gro medium 2 days ago and are coming off a little bit of transplant shock I think, hence the slight droop in some leaves. They will be transplanted into 3 gallon grow bags of Miracle-Gro Potting Mix a week or two prior to moving to the HPS room for flower =)

SO lets do this thing!

I like the grow-bags, it's the last thing I did before going to hydro. Cheap and easy to get rid of. Straight mg potting soil might be a bit rich after your plant starts to get a bigger rootbase. I would reccomend a layer of gravel in the bottom, to ensure good drainage and cut something into the potting soil not only to increase the drainage properties but to reduce the available amount of nutrients in the pot. With all growing mediums be sure to sterilize, preferably by heat and ph balance before planting.

Thanks for the post McBride =) Part of this little run is to see how Miracle-Gro Potting mix will do for the average budget grower straight out of the bag (with some perlite of course). This soil has not been PH adjusted. During this grow I will be using PH adjusted water only (no nutes during Veg). I will however take a runnoff sample here in a week or two or sooner if I feel like I'm running into PH issues with the medium. Feel free to sub to this grow and see what Miracle-Gro can do straight outa the bag =D

Hey Scar thanks for stoppin in! Yeah man, I did the Ocean FOrest thing and OMG it's expensive for me. I don't have a local Hydro shop and no way I'm paying for shipping on that stuff. I've got a plant 20 days into flower currently sitting in a grow bag of MG. She's using MG Bloom Booster currently. I'll post a pic of her when my timer kicks on.

Your plants look slammin man! I'm sayin, it's all about the lovin man Miracle-Gro soil or not! You've proved that right there! =)

+reps, thanks for subbin up!

I flower my girls at 12-15 inches and they stretch to about 3-31/2 feet during the first 3 weeks of flower. Keep in mind, you will get a huge increase in height once you switch your lights. I flower under a 400watt HPS. The veg cab with the CFL's is newly built. This is the first time it's been used. Running 12x 26 Watt 6500k CFL's for 4 plants. I'm hoping to get some good solid veg growth at 78watts per plant.

Really hoping I can further help prove that MG soil can put out some slammin plants =)

Here's a pic of my flowering girl. She's also White Widow. She was the runt of 6 plants. The other 5 ended up male unfortunately. She's a little bit on the spindly side but she's bushed out quite a bit through LST, and has quite a few bud sites that are exposed to alot of light. I'm hoping for a decent yield off her even though I didn't have much hope for her when she was younger.

Flower day 24 (MG Potting Mix and MG Bloom Booster nutes) 400watt HPS

I operate a F&D hydro system. When I use maracle grow ferts I ph stabilize my water with domolite lime and refined wood ashes. In soil however, lime and ash has to be balanced into the soil prior to planting. This combination garantees that my budders are getting what they need.

Hmm, So I was cleaning out my grow rooms, vacuuming etc and realized when I shut the door to my flower room prior to lights out I get some ambient light from the veg cab seeping under the door to the flower room. The light is VERY little but light none the less. Anyone think it will bother my plants in 12/12 cycle?

The light is ambient and very low under the door, it doesn't seem to shine on the plants at all. I'm thinking they probably don't even know as it's probably much less than say the moon's ambient glow outside. What do yall think?

I'd be inclined to agree with you, probably no damage but best to get rid of the light before it becomes a problem if it hasnt done damage already. I drape a heavy blanket over the door just to ensure. Been reading your thread with great intrest gonna contimue thge ride to the end with you so far looks great.

Hey SimplySmokin. Thanks for stoppin by! Yeah I went ahead and threw a blanket up to be safe also. This grow is going to be alot of fun I think. Always seen a lot of controversy about MG soil and fert products. This isn't trying to be an "i told ya so" grow, it's something folks can take a look at and draw their own conclusions from. I'm an amateur grower on a budget so this is a great way for me to get some community input as well as show some plants start to finish in soil that won't break the bank =)

Thanks for joinin up, I'll have update progress pics here in a couple days =D
