old seeds, new grow. Nirvana Ice in soil under 250W with Hesi nutrition

Hi everyone.
decided to create a journal because i am too lazy to write logs just for myself.
recently i decided to make a comeback and grow again.
my first grow was 5 years ago and it was great.
i ordered some seeds from pickandmix but meanwhile i decided to try and germinate 7 old seeds that i had in my fridge from the previous grow.

seeds are Nirvana ice which was truly amazing back then.
i started by germinating 4 seeds and a week later 3 more
all of the came out, 1 was a cripple and left us, the others are trying to survive.

they are under CFL right now but next week my 250 MH will start to work.
no nutes so far, just 6.5 ph water.

this is my plan (ill try to replace those to links to the actual action when time arrive, think its a good way if someone comes a cross a complete journal):

  1. germination (4 seeds started in 2.12.2010 ,3 on 8.12.2010 )
  2. topping
  3. training
  4. veg for another month
  5. find 2 nice females out of the 6 .
  6. clone those and throw them to flowering.
  7. get nice buds
  8. smoke some and get stoned.
  9. from here i cant remember

i am uploading some pictures, 1 of them looks great, the other one looks wired, the thired looks good but slow to develop , other 3 are to small to decide.

this is number 1, the biggest:

this is my too small closet:

this is number 3, nice one but slow to develop:

that's it for now, sorry for the lame English, not my nature language.

thanks mate.
ill upload a picture of my closet.
right now i use it for veg only.
the idea behind it is to make the most out of the limited height, there are two shelf that can control the height for two or mote plants, if you have one short plant and one taller you can still make them as close to the light as possible.
the vent always sucks air net to the light and keep the temperatures normal.

the weirdo is frying imo to close to light or too much heat, nvrmnd they bounced back, you should top the last one so it doesnt tower over the other ones and your light will stay in the sweet zone

hi.
thanks for the reply.
all the plants are looking good right now, as you said, they bounced back.
they were far from the lights, i dont think it was heat problem.
3 of them were topped, the other 3 will be topped this weekend.
ill transfer them to bigger pots, give them week or two in veg and then, ill send them to the flower chamber.

BTW, i saw your omega garden pics, thats insane !

small family picture, 4 topped, two to go.
it will be a bushy plant, the distance between the nodes is very small.

They look great, man!
A tiny bit of extra N wouldn't hurt them and might speed things up a bit.

Here's an idea - when they show sex (in 2-3 weeks probably) you can fill that plastic box full of soil \ coco \ cocoperlite, plant the females together in an angle and secure a screen bent to fit the light curve on top of the plastic box.
That way you'll maximize both your space available for roots and the light you got. Also, you would need to water less frequently.
If you'll keep up with soil, which should be easier in this setup as it will need less drainage, mulch with 3cm of coco fibers so roots can grow up to the surface.

You can either level 4-5 branches from each plant using the screen or top for a lot of tops that would fill the screen and stay up to 10cm above the screen which will create small buds, but a lot of them.
The second option is easier if you don't know how far your plants will stretch, and its usually what I use.

Cheers :-)

sounds like a good advise that i might use, never done scrog before but always wanted to try.
just cant remember how far the ICE stretch.
couple of questions if you dont mind :

i guess ill get 2-3 females out of this , is that enough for such a big container (i guess its a 20 liter container) ?
does plants keep on growing roots while in flower stage ?
right now all the plants are 1 liter pots, should i transfer them to a bigger pots or leave them in the small pots until they will show sex ?

thanks mate and sorry for the "digging" .

ps, about the missing N, i think that because i took the picture under the MH light they look a bit pale but actually they have good color.

I grow plants in 25L pots. One plant per 25L pot.
2-3 plants is even too much by my book.

From what I recall ICE is a medium stretcher. You should stop pushing back shoots around 17-19 days into 12\12 to let them poke out properly, but its pretty pheno dependent.

Plants grow roots in flowering. Very much so.
Just less than in veg.
I got plants on 12\12 from rooting that filled a 7L with NO PROBLEMS at all.

I would leave them in the 1L, or transplant to 2L bottles with drainage holes until they show sex. You don't want them too big before you'r able to sex them.
when working with only 20L of soil you want to give them root space up until harvest. If you'll let them grow too much roots and get rootbound in your container your going to get much less buds.
If you have the vertical space you might want to stack another tub like you currently have on top of the current, poke a lot of holes on the bottom and use them as a 40L pot. That would fit 2-3 plants much better.

Feel free to ask anything, I'm here anyway :-)
