Continuing Adventures in Hempy

I originally started this thread over 3? years ago at another site. After taking a look around this site for a few days it seems like a good place to park my grow here for a while.

(originally posted on the 15th)

I have a very K.I.S.S. style of growing; nutes are GH 3 part, epsome salt and silica blast. I use hempy tubs and grow in closets usually feeding about once a week. I can't exhaust outside where I live so I don't have the best control of my environment but I'm usually between 0.6 and 0.8 gpw, nothing major but good enough for me.

Day 37 flower, 250 watt MH agro-sun bulb, 6 Chronics

Recently I haven't been happy with my Chronic so I started some new chronic seeds to refresh my garden. The taller ones in the middle are the old chronic and I have two phenos on either side. Even though you'd think the tall ones are the keepers those are the ones I'm not satisfied with.

Day 7 flower, 400 watt mh agro-sun, 6 Chronics, 1 Killer queen, 2 NL#5, 1 GHBK

This garden is going to be a bit of a mess but I had to throw a variety of plants in here this round to get the cuts and I figure even though I'll have a shitty uneven canopy, I'll have a variety of smoke.

I have clones about ready to transplant to a third closet in a few days. I get at least a harvest a month and with the 3rd closet starting up it will be every 3 weeks or so, something always happening.

New Garden

Finally got my new garden up and running today, maybe giving myself a week to clone was being a little too optimistic

This is an ikea closet with a smaller closet on the right that I've filled with mothers and a mini aero-cloner, 250 watts flower chamber on the right.

I've just filled the flower chamber with 6 rooted clones of Ghaze x Bubba Kush. This strain is not a great yielder but it produces nice hard buds in amazing speed. The quickest plant I've ever grown, you can take it at 45 days. I know you'd think that with the haze it would take a lot longer, but we've let it go up to 65 and there was not much difference.

I'm going to let these plants veg for 4 days or so just to get over any shock from the transplant.

Veg day 1 250 watts ghbk

So that's it, 3 closets, 2 X 250 watters and 1 400. At the moment I got new bulbs in all of them, all MH agrosuns

Very nice setup!

Maybe LST the taller strains to keep the canopy even?

I'm subscribed...

Me too. I may be interested in trying this method. I even have GH nutes and I can get perlite within a half an hour's drive. Maybe I can get the current clones to flower alongside my current project, as I have a weird L-shaped closet at the moment. I'd need to find a way to prop up the shorter plants without damaging my tall plants, which could be challenging.

If it gets bad I'll just snap them over, it's always worked for me. Right now I got a variety in the cloner so in a few weeks I think I'm going to run 2 Killer Queens, 2 Chronics A, and 2 Chronics B. I use A & B because I have 2 phenos and not sure what to call them. The clones are actually ready now, vegging in their cloner. Today I'm just going to up their nute strength from clone formula to Lucas formula. One of the sweet things about aero-cloners, if you need to veg for a while just leave them in and add more nutes.

Day 47 flower 250 watts Chronic

These are coming near the end of their cycle. You can see the leaf discoloration on the larger plants. These didn't used to do this so I'm guessing somewhere along the way they picked up some kind of virus which doesn't allow them to eat properly. Unfortunately the new ones don't seem like keepers but I'm going to run at least 2 more cycles before I decide, either way I'm popping some f2s to see if I can't find something like the way the big ones used to be.

Day 17 flower 400 watts Chronics, NL#5, Killer Queen, GHBK

These plants are looking good, maybe the silica is doing something because the foliage does seem better than usual. I hate having such a crowded closet but this was more about the clones and testing than anything else.

Day 8 veg 250 watts Ghaze x Bubbakush

These seem to have reached the bottom of the bucket today so I'm going to flip these today or tomorrow.

The clones for the closet that is about over are ready 4 days ago so I dumped some lucas in the aero-cloner and they are vegging there right now. Normally I hang my plants in their same closets to dry because of the charcoal filter but I'm going to transplant on the same day so I'll stick them into a little ghetto dry box I made for such times.

Thanks

I cut down one of my closets a few days early because the clones were past ready and the wife wanted her bath back.

Normally I dry in the same closet but I have a ghetto dryer for such times, just a cardboard box with intake holes on the bottom and exhaust on the top. Can't control the smell but since I have 3 charcoal scrubbers in the room it doesn't get that bad

Hopefully they will dry to just over 125g or so.

Veg day 1 250 watts, from the left 2 Chronics (b), 2 Killer Queens, 2 Chronics (a)

Normally I like to disinfect my medium by boiling it in water for 5 minutes but this time I just put it through the hopper to remove organic material and rinsed it.

Looks like a decent harvest! Pretty work.

A few days early isn't so bad... sometimes it's nice to have some more "energetic" weed around.

Thanks all. It's just super K.I.S.S.

I was curious one time how much actual time is spent on the garden, from cloning to harvest and processing the medium for reuse, turned out to be 10 hours per cycle. I fill the rest of my time with porn, which is cool, but I'm starting to look like this guy

The dry weight on the 250 watt garden is 150 grams or 0.6 gpw which is about what I get normally, on very good runs I get up to 0.8 gpw but I don't think I have the plants to do that kind of run now so I'm happy with the 150. The smoke and quality are good though, lost one nug to mold, dried out it too slow in the ghetto dryer.

I'm disappointed in the new chronics though. I have to get my old one back from a friend who has a mother. The 400 closet has 6 of the new ones in there that are looking ok so I hope it was just weak clones this run and not the genetics but realistically I don't see them doing much.

The Northern lights is also a big question. The guy who gave me the cut recently gave me some of his weed and it was schwag, looked bad. Hoping it was his fault and not the strain.

That leaves the killer queen to look forward to, hope this one also does not disappoint. I'm so jealous of people have the room to really go about serious selection. With a small room it's like trying to hit a target blindfolded.

I hear you about the genetics - just really learning the ropes with it myself... but plants that look real good to start can certainly disappoint, even with perfect growing conditions.

This is what my garden looked like a year ago. The chronics were just so different, really huge but I think they picked up a virus along the way or something. I got 200 f2s and will start popping 4 at a time and running the best till I get something I like.

Day 26 flower 400 watts (Ghaze x Bubbakush, Killer Queen, 3 Chronic (a), 3 Chronic (b), 2 NL#5

These are chugging along, I snapped over the NLs to try and get the canopy a little more even. Tonight when the lights come on I'm going to turn the light around, the bulb placement is not actually in the middle of this thing, bad design.

Day 6 flower 250 watts 6 Ghaze x BubbaKush

These are looking pretty good to me. This is my 4th run with these plants and I've never been able to get a good yield off them, pretty sure I'd have to veg long and scrog them but I'm giving them another straight go without removing the lower nodes and a shorter veg to see what happens. Also a smaller space.

The third closet which I transplanted in is looking like total shit. Huge shock to the plants from being in the aero-cloner too long I think. Their roots were already pretty long. Sucks but nothing I could about it.

Have you ever used a enzyme additive like Cannazyme? I was wondering how much it would help dissolve small root bits when reusing the perlite.

Those girls under the 400 are looking good!
