420 Penguin's Grow

I'm not documenting from start to end on this grow. But I'll start commenting now. Today I finally sexed my clone from the B3 plant. Unfortunately it is a male. So I pulled him from the room and threw his pot, pellets, and some other things that could use sanitation into a bleach bath. I also trashed the three clones that were still under a tent in the vegetative room.

This left me with a lot more space in the vegetative room. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up some cubes so I can start some clones off of B2 and then place B2 into the flowering room. I also need some Awesome Blossoms and BC Grow.

I also need to get a good weather station so that I can start monitoring temperatures and humidity.

Just checked current flowering room high's and lows. low temp is 65.7 and high is 82. That seems a bit too wide of a variation to me.

Humidity in flowering room has been fluctuating at around 55% when it's sealed up. I've been tuning the humidifier down to where it should be 40-50% humidity. This may become more complex as winter progresses and the forced heat dries out the air. Although theoretically, the hygrometer in the humdifier should be able to figure it out.

The flowering room is drier. Normally it sits at about 31%. I may try to get it up to 40% with a small humidifier. First I need to get that weather station installed.

So today was the day to prune the big mother per the instructions given by
-=4:20=-Guy at
https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/3748-introduction-questions.html

This is the flowering room, with the light off, with the one clone I used to sex the mother.

This is the vegetative room before I trimmed the big mother down. Notice the absence of the other large plant. Turns out it was a dude. he's toast.

The 12 clones I took. I used the instructions from I Grow Chronic DVD plus -=4:20=-Guy's. I chose 8" cuttings from the top but I did trim off the two lower branches off of most of them before placing them in the clay blocks. Used Rootech Cloning Gel

This is the mother post clone taking. She is about 2' tall from base to tip now.

Now she's in her new location. The bulb is 20" above the top of the plant. Hope that's not too close.

Here's the veggie room with all the big plants gone:

Clones are under the tent. Maybe I didn't trim enough off. Some leaves are sticking to the side:

Now the older seedlings can get some more direct light:

Looks good.

As for the flowering room light.
You cant have it that high when you put the clones in, and you can get it closer to the girl thats in there now. About 14-18 inches away at the most from the top leafs. Just put your wrist under it and make sure it dosnt burn you and you will be OK. Check this out. <---Specificly loss of lumes over distance.

The wrist way works just fine but if you want to do a little experiment its informational. Put a mercury thermometer under the light at the specified distances and see how hot it gets, if you do remember that the thermometor dosnt have circulation to disapate the heat so only leave it for 10 min or so and let cool in between readings, it shouldnt be more than 95 degrees, A small fan, like 120mm, across the tops of the plants will help bring the temps of the top leafs down as well, to get it even closer.

Good luck on the clones! =) They will be ready for the flowering room before the one you have in now is budded. When this happens your gonna want to move her out from under the HPS and lower it for the clones. This would be a good time to put those Warm bulbs that you have to use on her. =)

Beautiful man, you answered my question and the follow up question that I forgot to post. I'll lower the light now and work on getting the warm FL set up this evening.

Flowering room was a bit low on fluids so I added 2 gallons of nutes that I ph-balanced.

Also foliarly fed the new clones with some BC nutes via this recipe, after the lights went off:

16oz H2O
1/4tsp Thrive Alive B1 Green

Not sure if I will feed with this solution daily or every other day. The last time I tried daily I think I fried some of the leaves. Always better to be conservative. Guess I'll just do it every other day.

The clones are wilting, but they tend to do that for the first few days after they're taken.

so it was time for a bimonthly change of nutes in the vegetative room. I proceeded with the full-strength vegetative nutes from BC. It was also time for the weekly vegetative foliar feeding so I sprinkled them a bit. The sprayer has been acting up the last few weeks. I don't know if I need to clean the heads with some vinegar or if it's just running low on fluids.

The clones aren't doing so well. Not all are doing poorly, but several don't look like they'll make it. This is my first time trying to clone to clay blocks instead of rockwool. Not sure if that's the problem or if I didn't mist them often enough or what.

I'll try to post pics soon.

The flowering mother has grown 4" and the top of it is now 14" from the bulb. I did the fist test and it is still within limits. I'm hoping the clones will take off and then I can push the mother towards the FLs and put the clones under the hood.

God knows I need a decent yield. My contact is complete shit. Feel like slapping the idiot.

The mama is sprouting the white hairs. This happened a lot faster than it did when I put a clone in to determine sex. Probably because I kept it 30" away, not 14-18" away. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Forgot the memory at work today.

Latest pics. Tried to do a macro shot of the white hairs but my camera is too old

Perhaps I'll get a camera with that xmas money.

Here are the two new FLs in the flowering room. They're sporting the 40w Phillips 48" Plant & Aquarium bulbs. They glow pink but the pictures don't show that:

=) cool man lookin good.

I was thinking something like this though for the Floresents, get um right there on the plant. I know your gonna be moving her to the side when the clones are ready so the first one labled p2.gif but down at the end of the tray is preferable then. The main goal is to keep the floresent lights as close as posible at all times they are on, the plant will start streching for them otherwise.

So I was getting tired of having some semi-big unknown sex plants in my vegetative room. They are now in the Flowering Room next to the warm FLs:

Here are some closeups of baby buds on the mama that is flowering:

And one picture of a branch with a lot of buds.

A far away shot of the vegetative room:

Two down low pictures of the vegetative room. I placed the 7 clones, that were planted in oasis and were under the dome, into new planters with some hydroton.

Tomorrow I need to move the flowering room fluids to the next stage of flowering. That's a little aggressive for the plants I just placed in there but I'd like the growing mama to have a chance at really producing some nice bud. In the future I will control my cycles better. I also need to add a gallon of vegetative water and nutes to the vegetative side. And finally I have to buy a timer for the new FLs in the flowering room. I'm not a 100% on what I'm going to do once I have some clones ready for the flowering room but it will still be full of plants.

excuse me for being dumb but what is the whole 420 thing about, i see a lot of growers incorporate this into their name, just wondering why?

LOL I had a Highway Patrol Officer ask me the same thing one time. It is a Police code somewhere that pertains to Pot. It is also a abandond highway in Arizona "The 420 HIGH-WAY" that is used as a party spot now. It then took off and I hoped the bandwagon long ago; it is now a part of the American POP Culture.

Every April 20th there are gatherings across the nation that are all about gettin HIGH the right WAY!!!
