Default HELP! Dying plants???
planted 2 seeds 8 days ago. using miracle grow pottin mix thats feeds plants up to 3 months. planted in plantable pots. 1 seed already had a half inch root poppin out from germination when i planted it. the other had cracked open. after 2 days the seed with the tail (plant 1) was sprouting out of the soil. the other (plant 2) came 2 or 3 days later.

i am usign one of those flourescent light bulbs that uses 23 watts energy but emits 90 watts. 18 or 1900 lumens. got the plantable pots set up in a cardboard box with the interior walls covered with aluminum foil. i had the light about 2 inches from plant 1. i say this because after a week plant 1 was about an inch and a half tall. all stem with the4 leaves at the top. plant 2 looks regular thou, about a half inch tall with 4 leaves.

i was watering everyday, but like just sprinlking them with a lil water. everything was fine until yesterday. i read that i shouldnt be watering so much so i didnt water them all yesterday. i have them on a 18/6 light shift. they sleep from 12pm to 6pm. when i woke up this morning both plants had fallen over and looked like they were dying! i quickly sprinkled them with some water and added more soil mix. i left the light on past 12 today until 1pm because i felt they needed to recover. by 1pm when i put them to sleep plant one was back up right, leaves still looked droopy, and plant 2 seemd the same, maybe a lil more upright, couldnt tell. i cant post pics now because they are sleeping, so for now here is the potting soil mix and the pots. as for water i buy bottled water and let it sit a day or 2.

i will post pics of how they look at 6-7ish pacific time. does anyone know what may be the problem without seein photos?

It sounds to me like the plants have stretched and fallen over.

Use something to support them... move the light in closer (about 1" away), and also get a fan. An oscillating fan. Have the fan blowing on the stems slightly, this will stimulate them into growing a thicker stem.

No. Especially not under that little light. they need all the help they can get.

An oscillating fan is one that turns.

Thats The Worst Soil You Can Pretty Much Get. Time Released Fertilizer Is Bad Because You Dont Know How Much The Plant Is Getting And When Its Getting It. You Want To Use Peat6 Moss Mixed With Perilite And Some Vermiculite.all Of Them Can Be Purchased At Your Local Garden Store For Very Very Cheap. About $3.00 A Bag.

Sounds like they maybe trying to 'damp off' on you. I would stop watering until they are fairly dry and slow down the watering schedule. Adding soil will help with keeping them upright, maybe bury to the first set of leaves?

Just my opinion.

alright took your advice skunk and got up back under the light and my mini fan. got some photos of the set up and the 2 plants. ill look into that soil, although i know people have grown with that mg soil.

the first photo is the setup, i tilted the light to the side only for the photo.

the 2 next photos are of plant one, it had a longer stem before but like i said i put more soil in. the last is plant 2 which seems to be back, it had fallen over earlier today.

They should turn to face the light fairly quickly...

Did you saturate the medium with plain ph'd water, then leave to drain before putting in the seedlings?

Do not give any nutrients in that soil.

A lot of people have problems with MG soil and nutes, myself included... I used the nutes once (to see if cheap nutes were as good as expensive ones) and burnt my plants to a point where I gave up and rescued the strain through clones. The strain grew fine after that in good nutes.

The thing is with the MG soil is that it has time release nutes, and these quantities are not well regulated for marijuana. When you feed, it's a good idea to saturate the medium rather than feeding in smaller increments. This will also help to flush out some of the harsher build-ups of salts in the soil.

Do you have a way of testing PH?
