CFL Closet/Box Grow

This may sound rant-ey but I'm tired of the 2 type of dealers I seem to run into. Either they're doing me a huge favor by taking my (husbands) hard earned money...or they act so sketchy that it really does feel like a DRUG deal, and I'm just not comfortable with that. So this week instead of buying pot (GASP!) I spent it on improving my grow.

My goal is to get a good enough grow going that I can quit buying from others completely. If I have to I can get by on about an ounce a month (although the last couple months it's been closer to 2oz) so I need to be turning out at least 3oz per grow cycle. This isn't my first grow, but the last couple have had downright pitiful results. Since then I've learned a lot, but I still consider myself a newbie for sure. Right now my grow box is 3ft tall, 18in wide and 12in deep...not that good of an area. It has 4 - 27W (100Weq) CFLs so I plan on using this area for veging now. It's at least decent enough for that.

The new area is the bottom half of my bathroom closet. There are 2 power strips, each with 2 adapters and y splitters totaling 8 bulbs (216W, 800Weq) for one plant. The plant was to have 12 bulbs but after 30 minutes of 12 bulbs going my closet was easily over 90 degrees, so I took 4 out and will put those back in the veg box. It's pretty disappointing, but there's not really any way to add ventilation to the closet without cutting a hole in the back, which I'd like to avoid. For now there's just a big ass box fan blowing fresh air in. I know my grow isn't "perfect" and my yield will suffer in the end, but all I can do is make the best of what I have.

New grow area at lights on...

My lone female. Day 65 overall, day 38 flowering.
Just a bagseed, haven't purchased any seeds yet out of pure paranoia. She's uneven as hell and leans to the right, my failed attempt at lst-ing. Hopefully I'll do better with the next grow.

Started germinating 10 more seeds today, so hopefully I'll get at least 8 to sprout and can get them in the veg box in the next couple days.

I am definitely open to, and desperate for, advice. So anything other than "CFLs suck" is welcome!

[If you're a CFL hater, WTF are you doing reading a CFL blog? ]

I know you said you wanted to avoid cutting a hole in the closet, but it might be a good idea to paint the closet white to reflect the light better, if thats an option

I 100% agree! I didn't think about it until after we already had everything all set up and then felt like a complete idiot. My plan is to paint on Friday. The white paint I have is the crap that puts out tons of fumes, any idea how long I should wait to put the plant back in after it dries?

I would wait 24 hours and if the fumes are still really strong wait another 12 hours
Thanks for the tip. Tried to +rep but apparently I gave you some not long ago. :/ lol

Anyway, the husband has changed things up...again. NOW the plan is to get this 6' utility cabinet and convert it. So I guess painting is a no-go since I'm just gonna have to paint this in a couple days. If you guys can't tell I hate not being able to control every aspect of the grow, and having to wait around for a decent cabinet is getting me twitchy. As soon as I figure out what the final setup is I'll be posting some pictures. I'm hoping to have it done this weekend, but who knows. Oh! On a positive note, the plant is doing wonderful since the lights were doubled. She's already perked up quite a bit and her leaves went back to being a beautiful bright green. Silver lining. :)

also, if you don't want to paint, just got to wal-mart and pick up a couple emergency blankets. they are extremely reflective and only like $2 a piece.
