thanks everyone for your help and nice comments
all 6 sprouts seemed happy and ready to sow today.
the white widows (here, see seed #3) developed faster, and each has a very hairy tap root:
the somango all have sturdy shoots coming out... here is somango seed #1
i checked the pH of my tap water with my new digital pen, and it read 6.7, so i'm going to work on bringing that down to at least 6. hopefully it'll be okay there to start (worked for the last grow, although skunk, i think once upon a time you mentioned that you had a feeling my 1st grow was adversly affected by pH issues), and then i need to develop pH lowering technology

...any suggestions out there? guess i'll just get some pHdown, but it would be nice to simply grab a lemon, or something out of the fridge.
i mixed up 1 liter of water and began adding rootjuice, first with the lowest recommended dosage (2ml), and then i tested it with my newly calibrated milwaukee t75 tds meter, and it read 110ppm (i'm aiming for 200 ppm, which corresponds with the 0.4 ec level i want for the seedlings). so i added enough more to take it up to biobizz's highest recommended dosage for rootjuice (5ml), and the meter read 120ppm. this was surprising, so i added twice that, and it's highest reading was 122ppm, so i left it there... hopefully i didn't just screw up, but i have faith it'll work out. if it doesn't hurt them, then i'll have my chance at redemption... definitely have to figure out why the heck the meter didn't register a higher concentration than it did, but maybe someone out there has an answer for me.
i drenched the pots full of coco coir with the feed, and let them drain. after that, i planted the seeds.
here's widow #1 getting ready to jump in the coco
i poked a hole in the soil with a chopstick and set the seeds gently inside with the root down and the seed up... then i just gently smushed it closed from the sides of the hole and covered it up- coco is very fluffy, even when damp! i left the tips of the seed just touching the air, and then sprinkled a little coco coir over it.
here they are, neatly labeled in their pots, ready to go under the lights!
and here they are, where i presume they will stay until they show their first set of spears... then, i'll move them under the 400 w metal halide agrosun gold multi-spectrum bulb. now i need to look for a new hood, so i can be sure to have the mh nice and close for veg. i suppose i could get this agrosun fluorescent grow light even closer to them... do you think i should?
