thanks sw, that's a good question- i prefer to buy that stuff from my hydro store, and they didn't have those in stock, and the guy there convinced me that growing in coco is just about like biobizz's light mix soil, so i think it'll be all good- the biobizz stuff is kick ass organic, and if i'm finding deficiencies in the plants, i'll troubleshoot it and figure out what to supplement the nutrients with, but i think the bbz nute line is pretty comprehensive. looking forward to seeing how your coco grow goes, so let me know when you start it! i never hear of many people growing in coco.

have you tried anything but? i kind of like the thought of having supreme control of the nutes the plants are getting, that way i can learn what their limits are, learn to keep the nutes as highly concentrated as the plants want to accept. i don't see how it is possible to learn and produce the maximum potential in a plant in just soil... i guess you can, but wouldn't you always be kind of guessing about the rate at which the plants consume the nutrients in the soil. that's not to suggest that soil doesn't produce tremendous results, and it way less complicated, so i see why you might want to stay in soil, but i'm interested in pushing them to the limit of their genetic potential, and then reaping that shit

the 3 white widow seeds are cracked and sprouting (this pic is from about 6 hours ago, when only 2 were sprouting)

the somago are not waking up yet... one or two of them are showing signs of thinking about cracking open, but they are gonna take a while, i suspect.

Yeah, it should be fine in Coco, on their website BioBiz say you can use it with any medium. Although I would never use it for Hydro, the res would just be too stinky!!

I use BioBizz nutes for my soil grows too and they seem to work a treat. The only one I don't have is the BioHeaven. I will be trying the Canna range next when my BioBizz stuff is all gone.

Coco looks like a great growing medium and I can't wait to try it out. It will be a few months before I get round to it though. I've got some Jack Herer seedlings on the go and these will be finished in soil. But I will take cuttings. It is these cuttings that are destined for my first coco grow!

cool, i'm glad the nute line has been decent for you. i'm hoping bioheaven is the stuff that compensates for a soilless medium's lack of beneficial stuff and things usually available to plants in soil.

that's beautiful, man- i think you will really like everything about coco- good luck with that- looking forward to seeing it.

well, things are moving along with germination.

three ww sprouts doing well

and here are the somango, just waiting for one more to send out it's root, but it looks like the seed has started to crack

i think i will let them stay in there for another day, at least, so the roots get a bit longer. do you guys like to pluck off the seed cover if they're not coming off on their own?

I've had the shell or two that have poked through rockwool, that needed a helping hand. That was after dropping them in.

cool, i'll leave em with the shells for now- probably plant them tomorrow afternoon. that'll give me time to figure out my ppm meter and make some feed to mix in their coco.

I wouldn't try so much to pull it off, more to try and lightly brush it off, make sure you keep the stem steady with your other hand too, i've pulled one out once trying to get the shell off, and yes you must pull it off sometimes they just don't break free of the shell.
