Thread: First Mi caregiver grow

Hey all
First time poster. relatively new to the site. just been watchin until now.
Ive grown before in a small cutout i made into my attic without much of an investment. Recently received my card for the michigan medical program so i figured since its legal finally i'd go all out.
I built two rooms in my basement and put deadbolts on the door.
The veg room is the bigger of the two
I have a bench against one wall with a cloner and seeds start tray under a 2 foot 4 bulb t5. It's about 10x10. I covered the walls in a bubble wrap thats reflective on both sides. don't remember what its called though.
For the cloner I put mix in Super Thrive and clonex. For the seeds I pot them in red party cups filled with jiffy seed starter. I foliar feed the little girls with super thrive.
Once they are a good set or two in I transplant to veg

For Veg I have a 12 bulb Quantum bad boy VHO t5. Any one else usin a bad boy out there? i couldnt find much on them. I put 8 grow and 4 bloom in. And have it about 2 feet above the tops.
For veg i use 5 gallon pots and am testing different soils right now. I put 4 plants in Pro mix, 6 in ffof, 6 in roots organic. I foliar feed them with super thrive until a week before I send them to veg. I dont top them and try not to clip unless i have to. I veg for about a month or until they are a foot tall. For the pro mix ive been using bio grow that i got as a free sample.
I circulate the air with a 16" air king and a small table fan for the bench.

The flower room is about 8x4 and is also covered in reflective material. For now i have a 600 w hps. Its a daystar ac hood hooked to a hydrofarm exhaust fan then vents outside. I bought a solarmax for it but am hopin to get a philips son-t agro when i can find someone that sells it. The ballast is a dual 600 by lumatek. Im hoping to add a Co2 system and a second 600 w hood. I feed with bio bloom that came in the sample pack.

Not sure if I left anything out ha.

For my first grow i went too far with the strains too.
By seed I started 16 for this run.

1 Colorado Indica
4 AK-48
1 Quiksilver freebie from attitude
1 Purple haze
1 Moby Dick freebie from attitude
2 La Confidential x skunk
1 OG 18 x skunk
2 Kushberry x skunk
2 Sleestack x skunk

I started them in seperate shot glasses and cups that were filled with luke warm water on December 31st. After a couple hours they sunk and I put them in moist paper towel in a different box. They popped over night then i put them in the jiffy.
Ill update more on them tomorow when i can get some pics. I will be postin mostly about these for the rest of the journal.

In other parts of the room I have 3 in the cloner; pluto kush, northern berry, and apollo 11.
I have two mothers under the 4 bulb 2 foot; pluto kush and northern berry.
three in the flower for a week; 2 northern berry and a pluto kush.

Ill be updating more later once my camera is ready. A couple taste pics for now from the other day.

Ok well here we go I figured since there a couple different parts to the grow at this point im gonna do a couple different posts to plit them up

The first 14 I started from seed on December 12th. They are all at different heights. I have one startin to be a problem but ill put that in a different post. and one thats not really doin much.
The first 4 are AK48.
one in ocean forest
two in roots organic
one in pro mix
The pro mix is a set behind the other three but they all look healthy

The next 2 are LA confidential
one is in pro mix
one is in ocean forest
The pro mix is the problem girl. the ocean forest is the runt thats just now pushin out her 3rd set

The next two are sleestack
both are in ocean forest
One is about a set ahead of the other. the bigger one is startin to show small signs of nute burn

The next two are kushberry
one is in ocean forest and a 3 gallon bucket. the other is in promix and a 5 gallon bucket.
the one in the promix is showin quicker growth.

The next one is a quicksilver
i put her in roots organic
started off slow but shes startin to grow quick now and is catchin up to the rest. she has the thinnest leaves out of all of them.

the next one is purple haze
shes in pro mix
kind of small put growin quick.

the next one is moby dick
i put her in roots organic
second slowest grower. growin the sets fine put small.

the last one is OG 18
i put her in roots organic
shes definitely one of the biggest and is growin quick.

The pics are the best of each strain. In order they are, ak 48, la confidential, sleestack, kushberry, quicksilver, purple haze, moby dick, and g18.

I have one plant that is beginning to have problems on the new growth. The leaves are turning light green and looked almost wrinkly or scaly. Im thinkin it could be nute burn or some bugs in the soil.

I found out a couple days ago that I have a mutant on my hands. The one bagseed I did that I brought back from colorado.
At the fifth node it seems to have become a trifoliate. The are 3 fan leaves going off and 3 growth shoots. It seems to have been riddled with genetic quirks though because the second set had only 2 leaves, which i dont think is as uncommon. The node growth on the second node is also growing into the fan leaf.

An update on the 15 seed grown.
I was starting to get a bid of a fungus gnat problem. so i got some doctor doom and put an inch of sand on top of each plant.
I switched all the lights in the room to 12/12 so I could sex them. I need to free up a couple plant spaces so I am going to kill off some males.

After putting sand on the top of all the buckets the gnats have all disappeared. Didn't have to use much of the doctor doom.
I put them into 12/12 about a week ago to sex them out. Im going to keep a couple males to get some seeds. They will hopefully sex within the next couple days.
They are from 6- 12"s. they are a week older in the pic from the last post.

Adding to the confusion I wanted to post a few pics of the girls i have in flower.
There are 2 pluto kush and a northern berry.
the pluto kush are in 1/2 gallon pots, the northern berry is in a 5 gallon.
They have been in flower for a week and a half now.
the northern berry and a pluto kush are being fed supernatural, the other pluto is fed bio-bizz.
I have them under a 600 watt hps with a 24 watt uvb 10.

Looking good!! It sounds like we have simular setups. It's nice to see a MI grower, I hope we follow soon and I can grow legally. I didn't have a chance to read it all but I will.

cph- cool im lovin this setup more everyday. cross your fingers for your state. They are startin to move now, so probably not too long. Ive been hopin to see some more michigan growers poppin up. maybe email norml and see if they'll be stoppin by lol.
