BlackJack CGE Spring 2010

Cheers folks :)

This is the beginning of my second run with Nirvana BlackJack. My first run has another another week to go, they are being flushed right now :)

I'm working with a 3x9x6 cge (closed growing environment), that is almost dialed in. I may still have to increase carbon filtration.

The space maintains all variables i.e. Temps, humidity, co2, nute temp etc are all controlled and have been dialed in and running without hick ups since my last grow.

I only need 2x 20#tanks of c02 for an entire grow, 3 weeks of veg. and 10 weeks of flower, so all in all it runs rather tight.

My first run with BlackJacks is looking pretty good, but I did let them get a bit stretchy during flower onset by not managing my light distance closely and also switching out my mh for the hps a bit too early. So this time around this will be my major focus as I do think that this strain has far more potential then what I have done on the first run.

You can check my first run with them here:

If you guys have questions or comments feel free to ask or join me and my girls for the ride ;)

Hey unity,if i remember right,on your last grow, your black jacks vegged for 2 months(8 weeks)what was the final yield per plant average.Mine are smaller then yours were,I'm at 19" at 20 days into flowering. Was kinda hoping you might be able to give me a guesstimate on what I might get per plant

I'll harvest this Saturday, then I can give you a better idea. I only vegged for about 3 weeks though (I think lol), flipped them at about 18". They grow quick with the co2 ;)

wow that co2 must really work, caus i vegged from seed for 5 weeks and they were only about 8" when i went to flowering, then they grew another 11" in the first 21 days of flowering.I'm hoping to get 2 ounces per plant but this is my first grow and have no idea what ill get,was hoping you could give me a guestimate.

Looking forward to seeing the completion of your last grow and subscribing to this one.

You stated "I may still have to increase carbon filtration." I having a hard time with smell. What are you doing now and what are you thinking of adding? Mine is not a closed system like yours but feels back into my house.

"I only vegged for about 3 weeks though (I think lol), flipped them at about 18", that a lot. Is that from germination or cloning? If not then how long and how tall do you germ/clone?

Looking forward to following your grow again.

Cheers guys :)
Well, it's time to get my next grow under way :)))
This is my second run with the Blackjacks, and I hope to improve on yield this time. Last round stretched a lot, this time I will top them probably 3 times and keep the mh on them throughout the 'mad' stretch (3
weeks into flower). We will see if this helps.
My yield from last round was 3 ounces lower and 4.5 ounces top 12 inches (600W hps). Over all not bad considering that there was not a single low quality bud on the plants ;) They have only been curing for 4 days now, but smell and taste already fantastic :))) The high comes on smooth and whacks you over the head if not careful, which we never are lol. The strain is defenitly a keeper, but I have to get my yield up a bit, so which me luck bros.
BTW, I dried them in my grow space at 60% humidity for 6 days, and took them out of the jars yesterday for one more day in the paper bag (lower buds only)

So, here are some pics of the young girls in there new home:
The burn you see was caused by foliar feeding them while lights on (cfls only though). New growth is perfect though ;)

the smaler plant was the same size as the larger once 3 days ago, but remained under the cfls as a back up, pretty crazy huh, what a bit of mh, drip feeding and co2 can do.

Peace,
Unity

hey unity, things are going great on my side,my blackjack girls are at week 6 day 1,im waiting to see the first hairs turn color. How long would you say they take about(10 weeks?)What is the harvest yield like per plant????
I know you vegged your 3 weeks longer then me,but i have no idea what to expect for harvest weight?Fill me in on what to expect.I also stuffed 5 girls in my 2x4 floor space tent All close to 2 foot tall.

subscribed your last grow was inspiring thank you!
Cheers Matan :)
glad you liked it. Hopefully I can kick them up a notch this go around :)

I'm starting them out a lot bushier then last round. I feel that I left a lot on the table my last grow due to poor canopy managment on my part.

All in good fun!
Peace

I think mine under performed, nevertheless I got 7.5oz from 4 plants under a 600w.
I hope to kick these numbers up way this go around, most importantly I want to avoid the mg deficiency they got during early veg. wish me luck ;)
I think they are off to a good start (knock on wood)

Peace

6 days veg under mh,

I took all the leafs that had some burn damage from clone stage. No sense having them take light from healthy new growth.
They are bushing out nicely. I'm maintaining a tighter distance to the light then last grow.

The growth in just one week is amazing when compared to the one left outside the grow space under cfls

1.5weeks under the mh.
They are growing mad, and are bushing out like
i wanted :) I've been removing the lower growth a bit daily in order to have stronger main branches. I also topped them again.
On the downside, my mg issues are back :( , not as severe as lost time, but definitely noticeable. Along with that they are getting a bit of necrosis on the older leafs, which could be me not hitting their nutrient requirements right on under their co2 enriched environment.
Logic would tell me, that when new growth is healthy and lower growth becomes deficient that the new growth is not able to take up sufficient nutrients and instead eating itself.
Solution should be to increase nutrient uptake. I can think myself mad on this stuff lol, anybody want to chime in?

Peace

I think the girls are beautiful. Couldn't be fuller, colors great. I had a bulb on my T-5 go bad, and then the day before my T-5 arrived the other bulb started, so I've had some stretch but otherwise great.
Keep up the good work.
