Hey Fellas!

This is my first ever hydro grow - so over the next few months I may be asking for some help from you guys! Feel free to post as much/often as you like and please subscribe!!

Like many of you, I have been on these forums for a long time researching and learning from others. I have finally bought all of my equipment and seeds and am ready to get things started!

Specs:

Seeds:

WhiteWidow (2)
Himalyan Gold
Super Lemon Haze
Lemon Skunk
LA Woman

Gear

1000w HPS with Digital Lumitek Ballast
Cool Tube
Vortex Fan (400cfm)
4x4 Grow Tent
GH 6 Site Hydroponic System (RainForest)
GH Flora Nutrients
PRO FILTER

I have germinated all of my seeds and they are in Rockwool Cubes (pre-soaked in 5.5 PH purified water). The rockwool has been added to the clay pebbles - which are getting a contant spray of RES water from the RainForest System.

My temps are 82-86 (day) , and 62-68 (night).

I am using a passive intake into the tent, and am venting exhaust air through the cooltube, and out into the my spare room.

Everything seems to be going well so far - so wish me luck! :bigjoint:

Wow, you dont mess around buddy.
Nice setup. I looked at the rain forest and went with the eight pack of waterfarms for my first grow. You may want to postion your air filter off to one side, you may just need the height for your lamp.

Good Luck with your grow.

Nice looking setup bro, keep up the nice work
Can you post some pics of the inside of that rainforest unit?
I have been looking into them a lot recently but I can't find any good pics of the sprayer unit
Do you have the Rainforest 36 or 66?

Thanks for checking it out fellas! Good call on the air filter position. I can slide the mounting bars(that hold the light) forward and backward to allow the light to make it to the top of the tent without touching the air filter. You're right though, since the rainforest is about a foot an a half tall- it takes away from my vertical potential.

I'll take some pictures of the inside of the unit today. The vortex sprayer inside the unit is actually really neat. It comes 90% assembled and is extreamly easy to work with. So far things are going perfect...but until my girls develop a root system I can't reccomend it, it's just too early. The Res holds 13 Gallons of water and has a tube on the outside that makes water changes very easy. It comes with a full supply of GH Nutrients, hydrolite, GH feeding schedule, and even Cocotek liners + caps.

I just checked on the girls 5 minutes ago. I'm doing a 16/8 light schedule and after one day they have poped out the rockwool! Pics later!!

Thanks man

Hydro is a bit scary...but to me the benifits are worth the risk. I manage my business from home so I have the ability to be close by if something goes bad.

I honestly didnt get a great deal on my equipment. Im from Canada and wanted to avoid ordering from the US (customs BS) ... so i paid a bit more and ordered from Canadian online hydro shops. I'm sure I paid a bit more in the end, but I avoided random customs charges at the border - longer shipping times, and more risk.

I would say I spent $1300 for everything including seeds (from attitude). Includes: LIGHT KIT (ballast, bulb, cooltube) PRO FILTER, 4X4 GROW TENT, VORTEX FAN, SEEDS, HYDRO SYSTEM (RainForest from General Hydro), OTHER (small fans, rockwool, power bars, chain to hang lights, ducting, shipping charges).

Dude my buddy grew some shit in that rainforest and it was the bomb!! I can't remember the name of the first strain he grew in it, but that thing pumped out calyxes the size of a bicep. No exaggeration.

Fuuuuuuuuck what is the name of that strain:wall:

Anyways, he also grew some sweet island kush and some strawberry cough in same system.....mmmmmmmmmmm tasty shit I must say. Though, I'll admit, I have tried strawberry cough from 4 different grows now, and it tasted the the least sweet and fruity from the hydro grow. Potency was all there though:bigjoint:

+rep man for using the rainforest!

Hey guys

I woke up this morning to WHITE residue on my clay pebbles..

I've done some research and most of the time it seems to be either SALT buildup or NUTE build up on the medium. Is this something I should be worried about? Should I clean it, or will it just come right back? My setup has only been running for 1 week so far...my PPM and PH levels are perfect, temps are perfect, and growth seems to be going at a great pace.

any help is appreciated - thanks!

I wouldn't be too worried about it as long as the plants are looking good

SirNasty...

I'm running almost the exact same setup, but with 496 Watts. Are you running your rainforest 24/7? If you want I'll snap some pics to show you how I have my airflow setup. (Not intending to hijack) Props on using the same rig.

Hey man - thanks for checkin out my post :peace:

I'm ruinning the Rainforrest 24/7 with my fan/filter 24/7, and my lights 18/6.

The only problem I've had with the RF-system so far is the sprayer not spraying consistantly and not spraying with as much pressure. I think my res needed more water, so I filled it up to the top mark (13 gallons) and it seem better now .

Yeah man, post some pics :bigjoint: I'll take some new pics later too. What strains are you growing?

Its a Vortex Sprayer :

"The spinning shaft of the Vortex Sprayer creates a powerful vortex (a water twister) which stirs and lifts nutrients while oxygenating the reservoir.

It gently and evenly distributes oxygen rich nutrient solution to cuttings and root systems. This powerful system enables faster, more consistent propagation results, plus faster growth rates and higher crop yields.

The Vortex Sprayer provides plants with an oxygen super-charge"

What about the water pump that it is connected to? How many GPH is it? Getting a bigger pump may help you get better pressure and at a more consistent rate

The pump is contained within the unit's top dome. It's an interesting setup. I'll snap some pics and throw em in here to take a peek, with your permission, Sir Nasty. After that, I'll have to start my own grow journal when I get the cohones to post all the way through. Even though I'm a MMJ patient, it still gives me the willies to post a whole grow journal. Mad Props to you SirNasty for rollin this one out. I'm running Northern Lights right now. It's a good base to start to run crossbreeds. Thinking about breeding a NL X Jack Herer or a NL X Bob Marley's Lambs Bread.
