Mold what to do

so Im starting my first grow, and my set up is for right now 1 plant under a 250 MH, in some scotts potting soil, with some bloom fert. nothing too specail. my grow room is in my closet with a fan for ventilation. i see mold or a cotton-like thing growing on the top of my soil, is this bad for my plant and how do i stop it, with more than a fan for a cooler space?
