My First Semi Serious Grow

Ok so i live at home with my mum, she allows me to smoke weed and i have told her i am trying to grow, she is ok with that because i dont think she thinks it will work lol

Well this is my diary so far....

started with
9 baggie seeds
Food Container
Shop Soil
Small Pot Made From The Bottom Of A Plastic Bottle

Aim: To grow a plant to about 1ft, dont expect to get a
harvest just want to get a feel for growing so that when i try it
properly in the near future and spend out money on equipment i dont fuck it up

Germination method
I used the paper towel method as i didnt have any rock wool, and it seemed like
it would make it easier on the little fellas than putting it straight into soil.
I put 4/9 seeds on a damp bit of tissue, then put another peice on top of that
and put it in a food container, i then kept it on top of my sky+ box to keep
it at a fairly warm temperature.

day 1 (wednesday 12th September)
put the seeds in the paper towel, waiting to see if they are going to germinate.
day 2
one seed is defo ahead of the others with a root exposed at around half a cm already
night 2
The quick seed now has a root measuring at half an inch, ill put it into soil now
day 3
Seed was buried at around 1.5cm deep last night, expect to see above surface
action by tomorrow evening. Decided im going to call this one speedx2 or sx2 for short
cause it germinated at twice the speed of all the others lol
Just took some pictures and noticed that there is another seed that is
germinating allot faster than the remaining 2, possible name : speedx1 or sx1 lol

The first one is of SX2 in its pot, the second is of the 3 remaining seeds, sx1 is the big fucker in the middle lol, the third one is where i am germinating my seeds and the fourth one is my 5 remaining seeds.

It would be great if you could all give me some advice ect as the grow continues.... im intending on getting some CFL's and growing in my cupboard under the stairs.

I think i have a fair amount of knowledge on the subject of growing, i was a member of cannabis.com (lil josh) for just over a yer and often read through others grow diary's (a couple of very hostile mods forced me to leave the site!)...don't get me wrong i know there is still loads i don't know but what im trying to say is im not a complete idiot lol, like i wouldn't plant 2 seeds in the same pot i know a lil about the different lights n equipment you may need, i also know of there prices lol

when i think about it i dont see much that could go wrong if i just follow the instructions and guides passed around by other people, but i know somehow i will mess up a few times lol like with the 12/12 lighting ect..

Like i said tho this is more of just a practice grow, mainly for educational purposes because i defo dont expect to get a harvest lol

good attitude towards your first grow, what, how many lights are you planning on useing

Thanks mate, im just being realistic with myself

erm im planning on using cfl's but im not sure on how many im going to use yet, depends what stores i can find that sell them and there prices.
When are lights necessary ? i mean Sx2 seems to be poking its head up already lol so im just wondering are lights necessary at this point and if not how long can they go withought lights?
i put it next to the window today to get a lil bit of sunlight on it lol dunno y, just me being impatient lol

well im baked and have rambled on as usual lol, im gona update my grow log then post it on hear

Yeah man just go to to the nearest super market and pick up a 2 or 3 pack of like 30-40 watt cfls, make sure you get a pack of "cool white" and a pack of "warm white" pick up some y-splitters or just some cheap ass light fixtures and have at it!

Came above surface today and reached about 2cm by the end of the night....let them grow
day 5sun
well i planted sx1 today cause her root was around a inch long, fingers
crossed she will continue to progress the way she has so far
folowing in her sister sx2's foot steps

Got some new pics to upload but first...about the cfl's....

Went down to my local woolworths expecting to find lots of bulbs showing of that they were cfl...only to find none of them were..there was some 20 watt general electric energy saving eco ones that say there rank A on that lil energy chart thing on the box...but im really not sure if there cfl's now ive looked around on the internet...

Any help, wana hurry up cause my plants could defo do with some compact florescent light lol

Well there made by General Electric there 20watt says energy saving and eco on the box has a picture of itself with 1200lm next to it, has a lil energy chart on the side with a arrow pointing to the A at the top, 6 years life, also says not to use with dimmer switches.

Sound like a cfl ?

Well i have not been able to find out any more info on the lights so im using them for today and then i will go back to the shop tomorow and ask someone who knows.

Day 6mon

Well didnt have college today so thought it would be a good time to deal with the plants
Got 2 20watt lights ( think there cfl's but really not sure now and feeling liek a cfl noob lol)
cleared out my cupboard n made it plant friendly, altho for some reason i put silver foil on the wall ?? dont know why as i know that the creases in the foil will direct more light at one point of the plant than others n possibly fuck it up...dont have a clue why i done that...

I should defo take the silver foil of tho shouldn't i?

And replace with that white paint stuff or something as not to loose light.

SX2 is at around 1.5 - 2 inches above the surface now and the seeds shell has almost fallen of.
SX1 lost its seed shell earlier, surley this is to early as its only at around 1 inch above surface and was only planted yesterday...

the remaining 2 seeds have also germinated so thats a 4/4 germination
Put both of them into some soil tonight.

Before i go just wanted to say that last night i checked on SX2 at 2am and it was around 1cm i checked 4 hours later and it had doubled in size

Erm not sure what the pics are yet but i know i got a few to attach

More feedback would be great as this is my first grow and im basically going on whatever guides are out there but they can be very misleading and seem to choose to leave some points out. Took me ages to find out what light cycle i should put my seedlings on..seems like should go onto the 16 on 8 of till im ready to try and flower them..is this correct? seems like i keep missing things but cant think what lol

well ive rambled on agaaaaain lol..sorri n keep your advice and feedback coming.

Hey,
It looks like you have a mirror and foil in your grow area. I would get rid of that, its no good for the plants. just a heads up.

Also, the clear containers are bad! Light kills roots, probably why they don't look so good. Also, do u even have holes at the bottom of ur container? I think you maybe drowning them.
