I've come to share my grow with you guys and hopefully get some valuable tips and elp aong the way.

in total i have done about 5 successful grows in the past but have been out the game for about almost 2 years now and finally decided to begin growing again. My first attempt a few weeks ago with some jackberry seeds was a complete failure and my confidence is at an all time low. I ordered some more seeds recently special skunk, bubblegum and white rhino....and have decided to start off with 4 special skunk seeds. i dont know what happened with the jackberry seeds a few weeks back perhaps a combination of things i dont know. with that grow i put the seeds in a glass jar filled with water bought from the shop with a 7.2 PH level. The glass jar was on top of a heating pad with a magazine between the glass jar and heating pad to buffer out the heat a little. The next morning all the seeds had sunk to the bottom, i then proceeded to plant them in jiffy pellets which had been soacked for 8 minutes inj the same 7.2 PH water. I must point out that the tap roots had not yet cracked the shell of the seeds although there was visible swelling. Afer planting the seed about 1 cm below the surface of the jiffy pellets which were in a sort of home made dome on the heating pad the seeds sprouted on the 4th day with one seed sprouting on the 5th day.Once the seedlings had sprouted they did not grow much further than that. The lights i used for the first 3 days once the seeds had sprouted was 2x55 cfl's and the plants were about 1-2 inches from the lights, i even put them under a 250 w MH about 40 cm away for the last 2 days and still the second set of leaves were hardly visible, on day 8 i decided to pull em all out and start again as from past experience i know that growth should be visibl on a daily basis and after about 4 days since the seeds sprouted they should have been on their second set of leaves by now. Ok let me post again now on my current grow with the special skunk seeds

i dont know what went wrong with the last grow i suspect it was maybe the jiffy pellets were to moist and the seeds could not get enough oxygen, i dont think it was a lighting issue. For my current grow i have made 2 changes.
1. Not using the jiffy pelelts anymore 2. once the plants sprout they will go directly under my 250 W mh.

Let me tell you a little about the growing environment of today and the ones i used in the past with successful grows. In the past i had a grow box i made with the lights hanging inside the grow box. The box was about 1,8 m high 2 m long and 1 m wide. Inside the box i had a fan constantly circulating around the seedlings with a bowl of water in there for some humidity. For Veg i had 2x 250 w MH lamps and for flowering i had 2x 400 W HPS lamps. I strated the seedling off 2 x 55 cfls untill they got to there second set of leaves and then they went directly uner the MH Lamps, once i even started them from seeds directly under the MH lamps and they grew really well.

Today i no longer have this grow box but i have an entire spare room available for the grow, Inside the room i have a fan, and that bowl of water for humidity under the lights (which are currently off as the seedlings are stil germinating). I had a real tough time trying to come up with a way to hang my lights without bolting anything into my walls, i coult find the stand i was looking for so what i did was buy two ladders which are at either end of the room with a bar going accross laying on the steps of the ladder with my 2x MH lamps strapped to the bar. (As you can see in the pics) (My only concern here is these darn wooden ladders have a funny oily smell to them which i hope wont poison my plant) ifyou guys think this will be problem please let me know.

ok back to the grow, now that you guys know what my setup is like let me tell you where i am right now. On wednesday night 3 days ago i put 5 special skunk seeds in the glass jar with 7.2 ph water on the heating pad, the next thursday morning they were were still kind of floating but after pressing them down in the water they all sank to the bottom and all were visibly swollen with one kind of cracked, So i put them in an organic pro mix soil with perlite into paper cups... i cut holes into the paper cups at the bottom for drainage. I lightly misted the soil spraying it with some water planted the seeds pointy side down about 1cm just below the surface and covered the seeds gently with the soil and lightly sprayed them again with some water. All 5 cups are in a plastic container with some wet vermiculite in it covered with wrap plastic stuff on the heating pad. The vermiculite is in there to have some moisture in there to create some humidity. tomorrow will be day 4 and i am expecting some seeds to sprout. I have one more concern, when the seeds were in the glass jar of water on the heating pad over night the water go a little warm i hope it was not too warm that it killed off the seeds, but we will know soon i guess.
