Ding Ding Ding! Let round two begin!

Last time I was here my grow had a pretty serious hick-up so I was unable to see it through to the end but now im back and ready for some action!

Let me get right to it and tell you a little bit about my setup.......

My grow space is a standard closet that is 2.5' deep and about 6' long

Im running a Sun Systems 400w HPS w/ an Eye Hortilux Bulb. My reflector and closet are being exhausted with a Vortex 4" inline fan.

I am growing 6 plants this time as allowed under my medical card. I have one Orange Crush and 5 Norcal Purps. I clipped the purps from a mother I had about a month and a half ago. They sprouted roots in about two weeks then grew under a florescent for a month in a plasitc drinking cup (I was out of town), they are now in 3 gallon grow bags with Fox Farm OF soil and have been under my 400w HPS for about 5 days on 18/6.

The Orange Crush was purchased from a local dispensary about a week ago for $15.

Id like for the plants to be an average height of 1 to 1.5 feet before I start to flower. Right now the tallest plant stands about 8 inches. Im hopeing to reach a foot by next week.

Does anyone have an idea of how big they would get if I started to flower now, with an average height around 7" or 8"?

Im using the Fox Farm Trio for my nutrients. I decided to go with the FF feeding schedule they suggest to see how it works. I did my first feeding earlier this week and they seemed to take it pretty well. There was a little bit of burning but nothing to fuss about.

Anyone have experience w/ this Fox Farm feeding schedule? I started at 1/4 strength of what they say to use

Im still new to growing so I appreciate any helpful insight to help improve my harvest!

I included pics of the mother I cut the clones from, I decided to let her bud, she is about a month and a half into flowering now. She was on top of our pool pump / heater till the wind blew her off and snapped the top half of the plant.....the bottom is still alive and rocking though!

All Comments and Suggestions Welcome!

Looks good man... the grow bags look a little big for them small plants but it dont matter much (unless your tight on money)... the FFOF soil shouldnt need any nutes for the first 3 weeks.. its packed full of alot of good stuff that the plants can thrive on for the first 3 weeks apx.

I use the grow big the most. Its like taking steroids and injecting it straight to your veins. Its that good of stuff. At your stage I would go collect a couple gallons rain water then add 900PPM's of grow big + 100PPM's big bloom and not use the tiger bloom for a little while

Thanks dude, they are 3 gallon grow bags, I was looking for 2 gallon but they only had 1/3/5 so I went with 3.

They have been in the bags for about a week now. I fed them on Tuesday and noticed a tad of burning but not much. Im going to water tomorrow.

I live in Socal so it never rains here plus I dont have a PPM meter so I cant be that exact, I have been using the nutes at 1/4 strength so far and it seems to be doing well.

Do you have any knowledge about the Fox Farm products like Open Sesame & Cha Ching?

Thanks for the advise

yah, i just got the cha ching for my last grow.. i know that one small tiny pinch of it will raise your ppm massivly.. more then ur tiger bloom

EDIT: I would have gone with the 1 gallon grow bags

My grow got torn down before i had a chance to harvest. I did recover the bud but it didnt taste all that great because I hadn't flushed with water prior to it being destroyed.

I will use it this next time to see what it does. But honestly.. on my first grow i only used the 3 main fox farm nutes and nothing else. Everything turned out good then. So if ur a newbie dont worry about getting cha ching .... get a PPM meter first... i can hook you up with a site to order a ph and ppm meter for under 20 bucks a pop

Nice dude, I appreciate the link, ill have to pick those up with my next check.

My ladies have officially been switched to the 12/12 light cycle. The lights were on 6am to 12am before but I decided to switch the running time from day to night. So my lights will now be on from 6pm to 6am. My reason for doing this is mainly to help with heat, but also because my closet is exhausted through a window that is directly in front of the front door to my house and I dont want any daytime visitors (landlord, neighbors, etc.) getting suspicous because of the noisey exhaust vent.

is there any way to vent under the house... or put a filter on and recirulate the air?

No I cant vent under the house. If I recirculate the hot air from my light its just going to cause my temps to go up right?

I cant afford a filter right now but when the smell is noticeable I will get one.

yah that would make your temps rise but you wouldnt have your exhaust at your front door anymore.... a buddy of mine posted some info on my lowrider grow page on how to make your own filter using kitty liter...its cheaper then buying a filter

So its been a minute since my last update but as it turns out.....my crop has become infested with spider mites.....grrrrrr

I know the mites came from the Orange Crush which was purchased from a dispensary here in town.

I isolated the plant with the main infestation and will treat them all with neem oil later this evening once I can get to the store to pick some up.

Any advise on dealing with these little bastards? A fellow grower said that with a regular treatment of neem oil I should be ok.

Other than the mites, they actually look pretty healthy, they have really started to gain some height and are filling out nicely. I will have pictures posted later today.

Here are a few pics taken from today. I will post a pic of the mainly infested plant tomorrow, she is currently outside. I didnt make it to the hydro store before they closed today so I will go there first thing in the morning to get some neem oil to treat my plants.

A buddy suggested using 3/4 water mixed w/ 1/4 rubbing alcohol and said to apply it to the bottom of the leaves with a clean sponge. He said this will kill off the spider mite eggs that the neem oil wont kill.

You will also notice that I did a little LST'n to help open them up and spread out.

I let ya know how it works out =)

Hello Strangers,

So I have been pretty bad at keeping up with this journal. I went up north a few weeks ago to do some trim work for the harvest season then came back and went to see phish for Halloween and now im finally back in LA getting back to my regular schedule.

I had a roommate take care of my plants while I was gone, he didnt really do anything other than water and feed, no mite treatment. I killed the Orange Crush because it was a lost cause, with no treatment while I was gone the mites took it over.

My other plants are looking good, today pretty much marks the 4 week mark. I am still seeing some dots on the leaves from spider mites but no real significant damage. I cant seem to get them to completely go away. I just treated them again today with neem oil and will continue to do so up until the last week before harvest.

Im also starting to doubt that these are actually purps, they were clones cut from another plant that I flowered and well, it didnt really turn out purple in the end, the smoke was good, but the color was just plain old green.

Anyway, I plan to keep up with this journal better now that im back in town and already about half way through the flowering cycle.

Here are some pics from this morning.

Well I am about 4 1/2 weeks in now and they are looking pretty damn good to me with the exception of the slight mite problem I have.

Im still seeing slight might damage on the small leaves coming out of some of the buds. Its not a lot of damage but I fear that any mite presence is not good.

Does anyone know if i have to worry about mites getting up inside my nuggets? I hope not. I sprayed with neem oil yesterday and took a q-tip with rubbing alcohol/water and swiped the bottom of the leaves that had mites on them.

Im hoping I can keep them to the very minimum if not completely wipe them out asap.

Mite advise anyone?

Im getting pretty stoked about the coming weeks as they start to finish up. Im planning on flushing for two weeks but Im not exactly sure when to start. Should I start when I get to the 6th week, assuming that they will be done in two weeks? or is there another way to tell? I definitely want to get as much nutrients into them as possible before I start to flush.

I just got a TDS meter so im excited to use it for the first time in the next couple of days when I feed them again. I definitely need some advise on how to use this thing. I get the concept but I dont know what the safe levels for different nutrients are. I tested my tap water that I have been using and it has a ppm around 250 or so.

I have heard about adding molasses in the final weeks but dont know much about it. I guess im interested in any techniques to give me my plants that last final boost.

Anyway, enough ramblin, here are some pictures taken today including shots of some bubble hash and some tasty Purple Flow and Sage and Sour Diesel

Enjoy :bigjoint:

Do spider mites ever go away? Seriously, I have been trying to get rid of them completely but I cant seem to get them all. Its rather annoying and I hope they dont get the best of me in the end.

I dont have a camera now but ill post some pictures later. They are looking pretty good. I am at 5.5 weeks now, cant wait till they are done!
