Looks Beautiful! Recoton? Fan power? Where did you find those? Just Adapters spliced into the fans?

*FREE HUGS* Shakyboy! hah. yah thats what ive heard about digi timers. the one running the light is the one from my pc cse and it was always reliable so hopefully it stays that way. Recoton were these 12v adapters which are very useing i can do some serious fan control because the adapter can range from 1.5v up to 12v so i have they running at 6 for the moment. they were purchased at bestbuy if i recall. and yah i just pliced them and wired 2 fans to 1 adap.

Cab looks awesome man. Nice build. 250watt will work great in there. Remember, they can get hot, and they are BIG, but looks like you have plenty of fans and should be fine. You have two ? One with 6500k and one with 2700k spectrums ? Or whats the plan there ? Any thoughts of adding a couple small CFL's as side light or dual spectrum lighting ? Just some more ideas for you, and questions I had. Everything looks great though. Subscribed.

there are 4 fans and i was hoping 1 - 250w would cut it because the hood almost covers the whole area of the cabinet and under the bulb theres mayb 2 1/2 feet if that so i figured there wouldnt be a lot of wasted light especially with everything mylared and all. i start with the 1 - 250 see how it goes if i need more ill get more how does that work?

Sounds great man. I was just throwing out some ideas, and asking what your plans were. Those 250w bulbs can put out some serious amount of light, so I think you'll be alright there. Do you know which spectrum the bulb is ? Which ever one it is, you would benefit from having some extra bulbs of the other end of the spectrum. This is called having dual spectrum lighting. Some say it increases potency. I have never seen first hand evidence of this belief, but I buy into it and run dual spec's. This is not needed at all, but only suggested as a way to "increase potency".

You will grow some quality herb, I have faith in that. After this grow, maybe you can play with the setup. Add different lights, change it up, and see what the results are. I always like changing something small, and seeing if its a pro or con. You can actually see first hand if running dual spectrums would increase potency. Just another thought. You can be successful with what you have now, too !

Default everythings ready to go! let the germing begin!
so got pots today 4 - 1 gallon pots, got some dutch treat potting soil, got flora nova veg and bloom by generalhydroponics. and for the main event i pick up 2- 250w cfl 1-6500k and 1-2700k i am stoked. ive been funning the light straight with the fans and the temps are hovering just over 70 at night when my house is cooler im thinking of maybe keeping it there so it doesnt jump to much in the day. what you think?

anyways for a few pics:

pic1- front of cabinet open.

pic2- bottom of cabinet with the 4 one gallon pots.

pic3- top of cabinet with that giant cock sucker of a cfl

pic4- flora nova veg and bloon by gh. two part series super easy to use.

pic5- so you cant probly guess which bulb out of these two i got. but here are the specs on the bulbs:

PAR Max CFL (compact fluorescent light) are designed to replace metal halide, high pressure sodium and incandescent light sources. Par Max CFL use 80% less energy and produce very little heat while producing only light that plants need to grow. This light is called photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) in the range of 400 to 700nm. wavelength.

Available in two colour temperatures of 2700 and 6400 Kelvin, Par Max CFL’s allows you to produce both these wavelengths for maximum plant growth. Conventional metal halide and sodium lights produce much more light output but most of the light is not PAR spectrum therefore most of the energy consumed is converted to heat and light spectrums that plants cannot use.

Benefits of Par Max CFL:
  • 80% less power consumption
  • 8000 hr life
  • E39 base for easy retrofit
  • self-ballast
  • available in 2700K (red spectrum for flowering) and 6400K (blue spectrum for veg stage)
  • Instant fire
  • little heat output
Wattage Life Lumen Color Rendering Color Power Factor
125 8000 Hrs 7800 85 2700-6500k .90
250 8000 Hrs 14200 85 2700-6500k .95

with those specs said what would be the best approach with my plants? still keep them super close or what? i plant to LST them all and get a nice even canopy. let me know your thoughts. thanks in adavance!

thanks for beating me to my grow!! looking forward to seeing how Flora Nova does with soil. Nearly identical grow in the works over here. i have a 125W CFL slightly smaller dimensions, everything else very similar.

i'm pumped. i literally shouted when i saw this round of pics. i'll have to share with you my design for an automatic waterer, that frees you from the garden for 5 days! (just worked out a design, expect it in a thread sometime this week)

for now check out my DIY/future grow thread, would be nice to "compare notes" DIY Grow Tent

keep up the good work.

mr shackleford glad to see your prety face in here once again! i didnt mean to beat you to your grow i just started germing my seeds tonight hurry up and youll be right behind me! im hoping this grow works out i got my fingers crossed. as for the flora nova the hydro guy said it was easy to use and got the job done and well thats good enough for me hahah. i look forward to hearing about this automatic watering system it could definetly come in handy to me at times. and i think ill go check out your new tent at this very moment. what do you think about plant proximity to these huse lights ive read that with the 250w i can still have my plants no more then 2 feet away with hardly any streching... what do you think i dont know not many people can give my much feedback on these huge cfls and how to grow with them. cheers my brotha
