Ok ive been a member of this forum for a few years now, i just found it again when i moved off to collage and since i got an off campus place i wanna start growing bud to save money in the long run off of constant buying.

I have like 16 seeds germinating off some bag-seed i got from the half oz i brought up here for the first week (until i find a dealer)

Im planning on making 2 grow boxs (one small for vegging, one big for flowering)

Since i cant start building my boxs for another week (i get money from scolarships / loans from college, lets say ill have alot of extra cash on hand)

Box Size:
28"x21"x55" (l/w/h) - flowering box
20"x20"x25" (l/w/h) - veging box

(at first, for the vegging box, since i need to build that one first and fast once i get my money, i might find a styrofoam box and build a vegging box from that, inspired by another grow journal i read here, then the floweing box, then a bigger veg box)

Lights:
2-4 CFL 5100k 42w bulbs in the veging box (2 on top, possibly 2 on the sides)
6-8 CFL 2700k 42w bulbs in the flowering box (2-4 on top, 4 bulbs 1/3 down from the top on every side)

Air circulation:
for intake on both, holes near the base of the boxs

for exhaust, 1 PC fan at the top for veg box
2 stacked PC fans at the top for the flowering box (probably attach some sort of smell filter too)


With this setup i want to be able to grow a total of like 4 plants in flowering at a time and anywhere from 6-12 in vegging. Around 15" take them out of the vegging box and grow them in the flowering box with about 3 ft of space to grow up while flowering.


So im probably a little too eager to start germinating my seeds b4 i even have my setup started.. its ok i got a blue bin that im gunna cut apart and start the germing seeds under 2 cfls for a weeks or so until i can get my veg box done.

I have done so much reading on other indoor grows with similar designs to this and i saw the results and it made me very happy to see some of the yeilds off of smaller spaces then mine that looked less equip then my design, i know im just a noob to growing but i have high hopes for this grow setup.

Just took a look at my germing seeds, i got 3 sprouting roots so far, maybe by the morning ill be able to plant a few and get this journal started.. i just got one of my fans working, i still need to run out to the store and grab some CFLs. Whats the best thing you can use to cut through kinda thick plastic? (im gunna start with one of those blue storage bins you can get at target, but i need to install my lights and my fan)

Use a hot razor blade. Works like a charm!

built my temp veg box in perfect time, the seeds are starting to break and show roots (the 6 in the bottem right on the pic).

I gotta pick up 2 CFLs for those lamps on the pics, they sadly still have the heat producing shitty light inside of them (from lava lamps) and im gunna need to start planting the germing seeds soon (hopefully in the morning).

I spent like an hour using a kitchen knife, scissors, and my comp finding guides to make sure im was doing everything right.. and i did. It was all relitively easy too, sadly i had to disassemble a perfectly fine, working computer for the fan tho, oh well, atleast i got a completely free vegging box.

uhg lights annoy me, i have had 2 problems so far with them today.

i couldnt find 23w 5100k-6500k bulbs for vegging so i only could get 2 23w 2700k bulbs. so then i get my two bulbs and get home and.. they dont fit into the lamps because the base is too narrow, uhg.

so then i went out to walmart and found the last 2 socket adapters, another extension cord, and some duck tape.. and tada, it works, now i got 6 planted seeds (the ones that germd) in my grow box.. im so excited

so far ive spent a total of like 13 dollars on this project.. so by the end of it if i get like 1 gram off these plants my investment will be good lol

edit: im thinking since i already have holes cut for those lamps and i just duck taped over it to hold the extension cord in place.. if when i get more money get some smaller cfl bulbs that will fit in those lamps, cut some more holes for the 23w ones and use the lamps as supplimental light

thanks, i planted the 6 seeds in small cups of soil this morning, hoping to see a plant sprout up soon, once they start ill post pics again

hrmm, im thinking about just throwing my seeds into 12/12 light when they sprout because i didnt realize that my grow space only really allowed about 10"-15" of growing height between the bottem of the lights and the top of the soil.. im reconsidering mounting up those lamps i have (from the pics) again and borrowing 6 bucks from my sister (i spent my last 6 on cigs) and buying 2 small CFLs and position the 2 23w bulbs i have on the sides (sideways so it doesnt take up as much height) to provide a little more space for the plants to grow and more light for better growth!

2 more of my germin seeds have broken and are showing small roots, 8 plants to start with.. that will be a nice first grow imo lol. hopefully i dont kill them all i have 8 chances on my hands lol
