Okay so this is my first grow ever and pics will be posted(as soon as i get a camera). This is my first post on this forum but i have done hours and hours of research from this site and i have tried to absorb most of your great knowledge. Right now im germinating 4 little seeds (i have about 100 seeds from a friend saving her bag seed) but im starting small. My setup is in a medium sized rubbermaid container. I have a fan to blow air in and one to vent out. I am not bothering with a carbon filter yet cuz im hoping my four plants wont stink too badly. The friend i got the seeds from usually smokes dank only so i should get something decent. I have a 150W work light like the kind used for construction. I have had it in my garage for working on cars ect. i think it might be MH i hope. I have two of these but i think im gonna only run one of them. Will this be enough? I also hope my rubbermaid bin is tall enough im gonna try LST to keep them short. I am also worried about temp since its summer and it gets about 85 daily so i hope lights dont bring it much higher. I am also not sure how to fertilize my plants i read up on it but im not really getting it. Are ferts mixed in with your water? Oh btw this will be in soil. My goal is not a huge yield but as an experiment and a learning experience so i can improve in the future on yield and other details. Like i have read in many forums in RIU "its not the end result its the journey" and that is very true so i hope you guys will enjoy this journey with me because i know i will enjoy it. Feel free to post for support or just to answer the couple of questions i have here. Also feel free to talk about your first grow here. Was it successful? Why or Why not? Stuff like that. Wish me luck! I might need it

You need to make sure of the light you've got
You will also need to think about odor control
I mix my nutes up in gallon jugs
Make sure your mix is ph'd to 6.5
You want your temps to be approx 75
85 + light heat = TOO HOT

thanks for the input. i am trying to figure out the kind of light it is but it doesnt say anywhere but when i look at other MH bulbs it looks like what i have. Odor control im not TOO worried about since im starting with 4 seeds so more than likely ill end up with 2 females. And for odor and heat i have 2 computer fans and im probably gonna get one of those bigger personal fans like a 12" one to put in my box. This will help with stem strength and temp. as for nutes any1 reccomend a specific type.

DAY 2- Still germinating just checked its been 24 hours and nothin but thats okay im patient. The seeds look dark and healthy so im hoping for the best. not much to report about. i have been thinking of possible names for my babies but we will see how many germinate and how many are female (hopefully all :P) before i come up with permanent names. they are nice and warm in my closet but water is cool as water usually is. is room temp like 75-80ish warm enough for germ?

*** Just got a growing buddy since it will be very hard to grow at my house she was willing to move this to her house in a secret room thing. the room looks like it might get hot :/ we will see. she is a girl and i kno how girls are with secrets so i hope she doesnt tell anyone

Just decided that im gonna buy cfl's because the light i have is no good but it shouldnt run me that much money i just hope i get the right lights its all experimental cuz its my first grow but still i dont wanna waste money i dont have to.

DAY 3-alright my first seed just cracked and is showing a substantial amount of root! hopefully the other three will show soon

Cross your fingers.. Sometimes it takes 24 hours for the seeds to germinate and the plant to come out and sometimes it could take a week
It all depends on the quality of the seed.
Invest in some high wattage CFL's from ebay or something and you'll be fine..

just bought four cfl's 2 rated for 100W and two rated for 75W ran me 40 bucks =( im running low on cash right now but im gonna try to get a pH tester soon and some ferts. after that my next investment will be some mylar. for now computer paper will do i guess lol ill get some pics as soon as i get a new battery for my phone (lost it at the fair)

Day 4- planted seed seems to be doing alright cant really tell yet though. not much to write about. no new seeds germinated but theres still hope

bought some potting soil hoping to see the plant sprout in the next few days by then my setup should be 100% complete. still need a timer, nutes, and mylar or something similar. making a trip to wal mart tomorrow

Day 5- today was quite an exciting day. my first seed sprouted and it looks like quite a happy plant (pics of plant and setup coming soon) and two new seeds germinated i need to edit what i said earlier about my lights. i have 2 cfls that give off 200W and two that give off 100W so im running 600W
