First Closet Grow (CFL) (Pics)

After procrastinating for two weeks I decided to start a grow journal to follow my first grow. My setup is a small closet about 3x3x7, I am using 4 - 27 watt 6500k CFLs - a 68 watt 2700k huge CFL and two more 14 watt 6500k CFLs. I have a small fan in the room for circulation and to keep the temps down i ran a vent to the closet from my central air. Temps stay between 75 and 80 degrees. All feedback and comments are welcome. I wasn't sure if the room was actually going to have the right conditions for the plants so i started with two seeds i got from a bag of some schwagg, I also have a Feminized Moby Dick about a week and a half old at the moment.

I feed them the nutes every other watering, in between the nutes i just give them fresh water. My refridgerator has a filter on the water so i just use that. Better than tap i'm thinking. The mixture of the nutes is 1/2 tsp of MaxiGrow and 1/8 tsp of MonsterGrow. They love it.

I just use the Schultz as a foliar spray, 7 drops per quart i give them a quick spray then gently shake off the water on them to prevent mold or anything else.

I have the timer setup but i have them on a 24/7 cycle at the moment. I'm doing this for the Moby Dick plant until its about 3 weeks old, then I will cut them back to 16/8 until flowering. The schwagg plants are basically just going threw the motions before i kill them to make room : ) plus its cool to watch any kind of weed plant grow in my book.

The foil looks shitty but it does the job until i can get some mylar

P.S - I bought this timer and it has two separate plugs on it and 4 little clips to set times with, I'm wondering if that means i can set each outlet to a different time? if anyone knows PM me. The directions on this thing are worthless

Here are a few pics: :weed:

He tries....:joint:

Check the grass growing in this pot, really trips me out since they havn;t been out of the room, oh well maybe its weed grass :joint:

Look at the stock on that plant, it goes into a Y right from the start, it seemed to have died when it was young. Well maybe not died but growth stopped for about 2 weeks then all of a sudden it branched out, was pretty cool to watch actually. Its; a champ!

I'm new to the concept but from the other pics i see i did fairly well.

Also I have been unable to stabilize the Ph of my plants, I was told at my local hydroponic store to use dolomite lime to keep it at a neutral 7, he said that the chemicals make the ph really unstable. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for reading this journal.

All comments and posts are welcome +rep to all

(Edit) I think I have been misreading my Ph tester, I'm pretty sure that the bottom set up numbers indicates Ph since its next to where it says PH. Haha I gotta look closer at things when I'm high lol

Looking good to me man. Wish I could get my leaves that green.

As for your pH meter, yeah read the numbers at the bottom, left is high alkaline and right is low acidic.

Later.

also, on that PH meter, be certain you're in the mode that you are reading for...i (one time only) was in PH mode and was reading the moisture bar...as my PH was near 7, i was reading the moisture as in the dry range and, even though I had justwatered my plants like the day before, I watered them again and wound up overwatering...d'oh!!!! learn from my mistake :-)

After the Feminized Moby Dick seed took so well I decided to germ another one of the seeds i purchased from The Attitude seed bank. I chose the Blue Widow to germ this time, around 1 am pst i put it in a paper towel and placed that into a sealed ziploc bag. I placed the bag under my modem which stays warm to the touch 24/7. i checked on it now which is about 13 hours since i placed it in the bad and it already has a taproot exposed from the shell. i will update with pictures shortly thanks! :weed:

Thanks man, the Blue Widow is just about ready for soil, which seeds did you purchase to get the free widow?

Hey man, nice journal/grow you got going on. +rep.

About pH...virtually all fertilizers are either somewhat acidic or somewhat basic, chemical fertilizers in particular. Dolomite lime is a good way to maintain a neutral pH, but you can easily adjust the pH of the nutrient solution you feed your plants with vinegar (=acidic, so pH DOWN) and baking soda (=basic, pH UP...baking soda will contribute some salts to the soil, which can build up over time if you don't periodically flush...chemical fertilizers are notorious for this, so be mindful about salt buildup that can lead to nutrient lockout).

Either way, you need to get yourself a better pH measuring tool. You can find digital pH meter "pens" online for $20, and they are worth the investment. They don't allow you to check the pH of the soil, but you can measure the pH of what goes into and comes out of the pot. They make other soil pH test kits you can get at hardware store garden centers for like $10 as well.

Long story short...you always want to know the pH of what goes into your soil!
