Ok, I'm new to the site and seen how some people have been growing in PC towers which blew my mind cause I have a spare one that's pretty tall so I decided try it out. PICS BELOW. This has been my 3rd attempt ever to grow erb and failed. Never grew inside so I hope this works. My mother and I both share the ritual of smoking MJ together as it always brought us together. Starting smoking with her at the age of 16 I believe and I am now 26 and she is 54 and still puffing strong. So to make a long intro short I have been challenged from my mother and wife to start out small and then maybe something larger after this goes well. I have 2 14w daytime cfls 5500k pretty much all I could find at home depot for what I had in my pocket and a splitter, found a adapter in the house and hooked up one fan to it from the old PC, still have to get another one for out take but I have a hole already made up top for now. I used sun reflector for car windows for the walls, and the soil is miracle grow seed starting potting mix with phosphorus for roots. I only use water that has been set out for a few days and some rain water I have collected that I have stored. Tuesday July 28, 2009 I started germinating in soil with a bag tightly over the containers set outside and noticed they had came through Aug 2, 2009 Saturday. I have been real cautious of how much water I add noticing the soil I have gets real damp and logged so I'm trying to get that figured out and wonder if my lights are good for my application. Any and all help would be appreciated!

you are gonna have a hard time keeping them small enough to fit in the pc case, im not saying it cant be done, but as basicaly a first time grower i am predicting space problems real quick. you should look into training techniques such as topping and lst. even then i say that the.space will probably be to small. i am only saying this because i dont think that i could keep plants that short and narrow.

as far as the lights, those will defenitaly work for now. you should be able to find some 23 watt bulbs there. i would suggest upgrading to at least this wattage if possible in the near future. Daylight spectum bulbs are good for vegging. you will want to switch to 2700 k "warm" bulbs for flowering.

BUMP! I thought I would give an update and show ya'll how they are turning out and answer a few of my questions. First this is day 4 of grow. I have had them in the case most of the time all day long and was turning the light out for 7 or so hours dont ask me why but decided I will keep them on constant,, I had them outside whenever I get some sun on my porch and alogn with the humidity I thought it would be a good start,, should I just keep them inside with the lights on and never take them out? Also, my setup I only have one intake and a hole for the outtake and it seems the fan im using is keeping the box too cold even with the lights on? I will look into gettin a thermomiter here soon,, anyways I also noticed that the leaves were starting to get a lighter green on the outside,, and the center they are darker,, is there something missing or am I doing something wrong? And can someone please tell me a few tips at the stage im on,, I am tryign to watch my watering closely thats a big concern for me anything else? here are some pics~~~~>


I also wanted to add that would it be possible as far as the room I have to keep the plants that I have only to see if any them are females. I planted a few because I was hoping maybe just one could be a female! Would it basically get too cramped of space even with LST to get to the stage of determining the sex of the 3 plants?????

Nice work on the case. Think it needs a bit of work to produce though.
The lights you have are not enough for plants much bigger than you have now and when you up the lights the cooling system will need to be upgraded too.
What you have is cool for a short while. Check out the other microgrows meantime for ideas on upgrading.

i kno we got off to a rough start but......
looks like your off to a good start first and foremost get that thermometer ( walmart has a digital temp and humidity put together for 8 bucks youll need both) second lights the 26w work great for small grows the more light the better theyll do as long as heat isnt a factor... basically you can get a way with 70 to 86 out of that range youll have problems the trick is geting no more than 10 to 13 degree difference from day to nite if your running 24/0 you wont have to worry as much but great temp is under 80 for sure.... as for the lst and topping to grow more than two females in that youll have to do alot of training and a low veg time like 2 to 3 weeks but i think youll have fun learning all these techniques best of luck on the grow and let me kno if ya need anything

I only have one fan in my case now blowing in and it seems with it on for a minute it gets too cold in the case,, i seen the hygrometer at walmart for 6.00,, good deal on that,, how would I b able to control the temps in these small ass boxes? get smaller fans or ones that dont put out so much air or what?

really i doubt its getting too cold it but yeah it could be tho jus check it with a good thermometer if thats the case then a small space heater will heat it up but i doubt youll need this ones the plants get goin and more lights youll be fightin to get the heat out but a fan for exhaust is a must for sure ill post a lil diagram thing i made for the one im building hehe after this grows done i wanna downsize a lil( more challanging)
