At least you got some of them harvested; better early than never! My plan is to go perpetual with no more than six mature plants at any given time (gotta keep my medical grows legal), one harvest every two weeks. As close to "trees" as my soon-to-be grow room allows, so I can maximize my six mature plant limit. Even my current two seedlings will end up pretty decent-sized bushes, as much as my tent and/or time will allow. Thing is, even though I've got five feet of vertical space in my tent (after subtracting pot and light fixture height), I'm loving the LST so much that until I'm able to do "trees" several months down the road, the LST will most definitely allow me to grow even really tall strains without exceeding my height limit. I'm only limited to bushes instead of trees for now because my tent is 2'x4', and there's no way I can fit six trees in there; maybe one! As it is, my plants would be at least 12" if not 18" tall if they weren't tied down! The horizontal growth is awesome! With the "raised" height I have my chains right now (i.e., for maintenance and taking photos, etc.), they're 24" from the floor. Yet the plants are barely reaching above the 9" tall pots. At this rate, even with double-to-triple size once flowering, I don't think I'll even have to readjust the chains to go higher than they are now for the "raised" height! Yet I'm getting more and more bud sites growing up to meet the others at the top every few days or so! So you don't necessarily need to go "tall" in order to have a great yield. I know I won't have a huge yield my first harvest, but I equally know that it's going to be huge compared to what it would have been had I not LSTd them! From what I've been reading, the main keys to growing very large plants is to use (of course LOL) large enough pots to accomodate the massive roots you'll end up having, and lots of training. M Blaze FIMs his plants, and then LSTs them into indoor TREES throughout the grow. The ones I've got going now are "straight" LST. (They got topped, but only the very tips which I used for cuttings in my AG.) I'm going to experiment with my next several seedlings: some will be "straight" LST, others will be topped like UB's "four cola" technique and then LST those new "main" branches. Etc. (Although LST basically makes all bud sites pretty much "main" branches; manipulating them correctly redistributes the auxins so that they're not focused only on the main cola, but instead the plant is basically "fooled" into thinking that all the new & large bud sites are "main" colas. In a nutshell. lol) Once I find the method that produces the most yield, of course I'll stick with that. I'm sure it's strain dependent though, so that'll be factored in as well. It really doesn't look like bushes/trees are difficult at all. Pretty much just what I've been doing RE: training the last couple of weeks, albeit on a larger scale/timeline. I was going to veg till these babies got pretty big, but it's taking way too long to wait for my first harvest. So each subsequent plant will (in theory LOL) be larger than the last, till I get them as big as I can with whatever space I'll have alotted. I've been doing a lot of reading on LST and SCROG, the first of which I already know really is so very easy! I'm going to also try SCROG on some plants in the very near future (kinda thinking about trying it on at least part of this batch) and see what that does for me. It's really another form of LST, but done with a screen instead of just ties. Point being, you don't necessarily have to grow them tall to maximize your yield with fewer plants! Of course wide and tall would produce even more, but if you don't have a lot of vertical space, then train your plants to be really wide and with as level a canopy as possible with LST, SCROG, super cropping (I'm not sure yet if I want to do that one LOL), etc. Think "bonzai" but on a larger scale. These are good starting studies IMNSHO. Very in depth and detailed. Getting down the LST and/or SCROG (the latter if wanting to keep the plants really short) appears to be the way to go for maximizing yield on a few plants rather than having a forest in your home. A complete guide to topping, training and pruning The Scrog Method Just found this right now; short 'n' sweet SCROG description/instruction. Quote:
I'll take note of solid info I find, and at the least post it in this thread for the time being, to share with those who want to do what my goal is, and now yours.... huge harvests without a huge number of plants! ![]()

I'm thinking of using mine for drying/curing once we get a house. I can use it to store my jars of cured bud in there too, keep everything together and in the room that no one enters without my express permission!

Yeah, I think I do, too! ![]() So, this is what happens when you tie down a limb just a bit too tight. I used a paper clip (gently!) for a splint. It's not broken all the way through, just the surface; I'd say it's surely less than a quarter of the stem, so it'll heal in no time. ![]() My inline fans arrived a bit ago. I was so happy! Until I opened one of the boxes, and found that there's no cord! One would think that Home Depot's site would state this in the section listing what it does and does not include, as not everyone buying one of these is a contractor or otherwise has experience with inline fans. Well, guess they're just gonna veg longer after all! I simply can't close the tent without exhaust. Not in this old, poorly insulated, hot house! I wonder how much longer I'll be stuck with brick weed... Did another round of BDSM

After thought:
I may be a Chronic Insomniac From Hell ![]() I'll of course still get whatever parts are needed to install these suckers, but I just now realized that there's a workaround for the time being. ![]()

Turns out the break in the stem is a bit deeper than I'd thought. But it's still attached, and there's been no wilting or yellowing, etc. So it just may heal. Quote:
You're the first person on RIU to make reference to my genatalia. Observing that I'm indeed a woman is one thing, and an undeniable one; and yes, more female growers should be "coming out" more on these sites, IMNSHO. Pointing out that I have a vagina, and further that that must be the reason there are 24 pages of posts (check the men's grow journals: most of them have many more pages of posts than mine, in a shorter period of time than this thread has been going), would invariably be taken as an insult by any woman who has a shred of self respect. However, for the time being I will give you the benefit of doubt and take your remarks as having had complimentary intent. That said, thank you for complimenting my grow (despite environmental obstacles I've encountered, I do happen to have a "green thumb" as they say) and organization. Especially since I'm generally not a very organized person; although once I've gotten something organized I then become extremely OCD about it remaining that way; to say the least! lol
