First of all, I just want to say that my main goal is to create the cheapest most inconspicuous set-up i can, in order to grow indoors, with very limited space and w/o raising the electric bill noticeably.

Supplies:

- Largest Rubber/plastic storage bin (with lid, and preferably black) from Big Lots or Wal-Mart $8.
-2 hanging light socket, (reflectors removed) from Wal-Mart $4.
-2 two-way socket splitters from Wal-Mart $4
-1 4pk Great Value soft white CFLs 26W, 1700 Lumens ea. from Wal-Mart $7
- Febreeze air purifier w/charcoal filter (tobacco) from Wal-Mart $15
-1 roll foil-like present wrapping paper from Wal-Mart $5
-1 Temp/humidity gauge from Wal-Mart $10
-1 Bathroom Exhaust fan from Lowe's $10
-1 !2"x12" L.E.D. grow panel from ebay $30 (optional)
-1 bag Miracle Grow Potting Soil (8-8-

, Wal-Mart $4
-Tape and a box cutter $4
-Styrofoam cups for vegging. $1
-Coke Bottle Bottoms for flowering $4
-2 Timers (One for the lights and one for the fan) $10 at Big Lots or Wal-Mart

Total: around $130

Note: When growing in this container, is is important to know that you will be bending and training the stems and keeping the roots compact in order to keep the plants shorter. Also this is only enough light and space for 2-4 plants. If you are not comfortable bending, you can get another plastic storage bin and use the bottom of it as the lid for your set-up. That will give you an extra 2 ft of upward growspace!

Step 1: Measure 2x cut once

Measure and cut a square hole in the center of the lid for the exhaust fan. Also measure and cut circular holes (evenly) just big enough for the tips of the sockets for fit into, on either side of the fan box hole. Now, in the bottom container, cut 2'x4" rectangular (intake) holes at the bottom of the shorter sides.

Step @: Taping the "mylar"

By far, the hardest part of this is applying the mylar. i highly recommend duct-tape or a really sticky, strong packing tape for this. Remember to make about 10 pieces redi before you start. Measure the mylar to cover as much as you can of the inside of the base. It is formed with some difficult angles, so you have to be careful not to crease the paper as you apply it. Try to make it more like a bowl than a square. Don't forget the lid!!! Cover as much space with this as possible, except the floor or bottom of the box.

Step 3: Wiring

Easy stuff... assemble everything then start splicing. Run your 2 light sockets together so they can be on their own timer. Extend the fan plug 6' or so, so it can have it's own timer too. And have it all grounded and on a good powerstrip.

You are done! (actually just redi 2 start) Plant some seeds or clones and set ur timers, water them and watch them grow!

These are sum pix with the led hooked up & turned on all alone (no CFLs!) This should be excellent for vegging, for 3 weeks to a month, we'll see. During this veg period is when I'll be bending and shaping the mums the most, so low light should be easier to keep the stems from hardening.
Also as far as I know, this is an idea I came up with alone the other day: BALLOONS. What do we exhale? co2. What do plants breathe? co2. Party balloons are very porous & therefore, leak co2 fairly quickly. If you watch closely, the balloons will be empty in about 5 days, and you can get whatever quantity, sizes or shapes to best fit your system. The fuller/tighter they are, the faster the co2 leaks out.

P.S. those styrofoam cups contain two seeds that germinated in just one day! (1/4'" taproots) Now lets see how fast they grow with that Miracle Grow + LED combo!

Two days and here's my firs sprout!
I changed my incubation methods by cutting back on the ventilator, thus allowing the temp to remain a nice 90-95 *F, whilst keeping the humidity well over 40%. I have the ventilator set to come on for 15 min every 12 hours. Also I decided to take out the dual light-socket splitters (leaving 2 CFLs on during incubation) to help the leaves find a bright light source to move toward. The CFLs also help raise the temp about 10*F in there. The LED panel may work alone, but with it on 16/8, the max temp w/o ventilation was 85*F. So, to keep the temp up a bit, I'm adding the 2CFLs along with the LED panel.

Also, as more foliage grows, I plan to add a couple computer fans to the intake ports.

I also added hinges to the back of my box lid, and (kickstands) to hold it up. That way i can work w/both hands, and w/o moving the whole shit around.

man how did you make that awsome ass grow box!!!
i got a plastic box just like that one but dont know were to drill holes ect.
and how do you change a bulbs light? I got some CFL's that say there both daylight and soft light...but when i put them in, they shine yellow....but the CFL's in my living room celing fan shine blue??? there the same bulbs wtf? could it be the socket that changes color?

the bulb itself says daylight and softwhite? or does the box..i've never seen any bulb with 2 different color's kinda would be hard considiering the gas inside of them burns at two different temp's for different colors.

The grow looks awesome, is this a "grow pannel 45" LED light your using?

Before answering questions, I just want to note that in 3 hours since i took those last pix this morning, 3 more stems have popped up!!!

That makes 4 sprouts in 1.5 days, so far...

Draxter-
#1: The box is about 3'x1/34'x2'. It's $8 @ Wal-Mart.
#2: Soft -white produces a yellower light than the daylight bulbs. But above 1600 Lumens, there is virtually no difference in the two. (other than Soft-white are much cheaper)
