Brand new setup...

Ok so i've decided to bring my growing indoors. I talked with my wife and she is gung ho! You married guys know that you have to ask to use closet space for anything but her stuff.

So anyway on to the good stuff...

Alright first is the equipment list that i have so far or at least ordered.

My seeds I have ordered from Nirvana-shop.com
I ordered some Durban Poison

Plant type: Best suitable for outdoor growing.
Plant height: Tall- Mostly Sativa
Stoned or high?: Sativa High- Cereberal Buzz
THC level: Moderate 5-10%
Flowering Weeks: 8/9
Yield (Sea of Green on one m2) : 450
Harvest Month: 9
Grow difficulty: Easy (Good for beginners)

I also ordered some Early Misty

Plant type: Best suitable for outdoor growing.
Plant height: Short- Mostly Indica
Stoned or high?: Stoned- Indica Body Buzz
THC level: Strong 15-20%
Flowering Weeks: 8
Yield (Sea of Green on one m2) : 450
Harvest Month: 8
Grow difficulty: Easy (Good for beginners)

now I know what you are thinking... It says "Plant type: Best suitable for outdoor growing" but it also says good for beginners and that is what I am... and that is one of the reasons i chose these seeds. Next time I will order some different seeds and try something someone recommends.

The seed part was relatively easy to choose... what i was really having a hard time with was all the lighting. I couldn't figure out what meant what and when to use that spectrum etc. But as usual around here someone had the answer i was looking for...*thanks Gygax1974"

I was directed to HTG and I bought this 400 WATT GROW LIGHT SYSTEM

It is simple all in one kit and it will be ready to go out of the box.

i have my closet all picked out, stripped out and ready to go. The first thing I had to do was remove all the shelving and carpet.

I then covered the one very small window, with a heavy duty contractor garbage bag and taped it down to seal out any chance of light disturbing anything.

More tomorrow....

I moved my grow room out of the closet because it got too hot with my 400W HPS. It was constantly in the low 90's F. You may need to use the window for ventilation.

You'll have to do a lot of planning and adjustment along the way to be at all successful growing those 2 strains at one time/in the same grow. If you start them at the same time the sativas will overtake the indicas severely...

The "beginner" speak from breeders is bullshit, IMO. Indicas that flower quickly would be an easier grow (IMO) than a longer-flowering sativa that may very well hermie somewhere along the way...

ditto w/ the 450gr per sq meter. Pretty lofty goals..and highly unrelaistic for a "beginner"...

but hey..I'm just a grower...WTF do i know?

I know there is a LOT of learning to do... but that is why I am here... to learn from people like you. I wont be germinating all the seeds at one time.. ill try one strain then the other when that is complete. But ill probably end up going with the Indica since it is shorter and flowers faster, the high is better as well i think.

i never trusted that nirvan seed shop. 500 grams per square meter is about one plant yes? where im at (the springs) 1.8 grams is an even 5 but we just round everything

so a nickle is 2 grams
dime=4
quarter= 6
dub=8
half=10
ounce is a bit more, istead of two halves we just go up to about 31 grams? thats what i got last time on the hook up.
so if there are 31 grams in one ounce and 16 ounce in a pound thats 16x31=496 grams is one pound from where im from.

ONE POUND! from beggining to end in one square meter... that is why i dont trust that damn site. they dont even have there euros right..

Hopefully you can vent through the window. Do you have AC in that area? Which strain are you growing first? That looks like a nice area to grow. Yeah I don't listen to the for beginners when it comes to picking out a strain, go with what you like. Good luck with everything.

28 grams in an ounce. Hey cidly, how you plan on germing your seeds. Dont overlook this part. I did my first time and fucked up. I learned quickly though.

July 7th..
Today I made great progress in my grow room..
I have purchased two fans... one oscillating 12' desk fan just for circulation and one high power Squirrel cage fan for the negative draft in the room. See this room used to be a bathroom, maybe it was never completed, it wasn't when i bought the house. It has a roof vent and i am going to be connecting my negative draft fan to that with an inline charcoal filter that i am going to make out of screen, a 3" piece of PVC and charcoal briquettes. That way it will vent out the roof.

I also purchased some chain to hang the lights, 4 - 2gal buckets,4 trays for the buckets, 1 large bag of river rock (small rock) to place in the bottom of the buckets to promote good drainage. I have already soaked them in bleach and rinsed, rinsed, and rinsed them to make sure no bleach remains in the rock prior to putting in the bottom of the pot and under the soil and worm castings.
I also purchased a 3' diameter dryer vent hose to use to connect to my vent and fan.
I built a nice stable shelf for the four plants to grow on. I have it mounted at 22" off the floor so that I have some storage room underneath, it makes it easier to work with them and appreciate them in all stages.AND I am thinking about going hydroponic if this first couple of grows go well and i learn a LOT more than i know now.
I have tried today to put up some more pics but for some reason rollitup.org's file manager isnt working in my account. I will try to upload them later tonight so you can see what i am referring to my vent setup.

Im going to vent out of the roof

, my grow room is an old bathroom... i used the current vent pipe to use for this exact purpose.
As for the strains I am going to try the Indica first. It is shorter and flowers faster by about 4 weeks or so i think. Keep in touch and let me know how im doing as I progress in this endeavor.

Cool, that's exactly what I do, up to the attic. And in my attic I have one of those huge exhaust fans to cool my whole house. It's like a freakin wind tunnel up there... have you given the room a test run yet. I left everything that I was going to be using on for a couple of days before I germinated, this way I could troubleshoot before. The room temp was a real bitch for me, I'm glad I figured that out before I started in the room. I have a 4x6.5x7 foot room and I had to put an extra exhaust fan in so now I have 2 and I had to put an inline fan into the ducting that goes into the attic. Give the room a test run is the only advice I could give you at the moment. You sound like you know what you're doing and it's nice to see your not skimping!! Have a good night
