Smile First timer - Bubblicious, Blue Cheese, Dreatime
Thanks everyone (in advance) for checking out my very first grow. Some of you may recognize me from the threads i've created here at rollitup already, and now I think i'm ready to get started! Well, i'm actually already 1 week in but hey - nothing much happens in the first week... =)

Here's a list of what i'm growing and some details on my setup, etc...

Seeds:

3x Bubblicious - Nirvana
2x Dreamtime - Mr.NICE
1x Blue Cheese (feminized) - Barney's Farm

Medium:

Premier Promix HP - 80%
Perlite - 20%

Light:

400w MH w/batwing reflector

Location:

Indoors - spare bathroom - tub

---------------------

....as mentioned, I'm already 1 week in - i'll fill in here what I can from the first week....

- I ordered my seeds online from this site:

http://www.marijuana-seeds-canada.com/

- Seeds took just over 2 weeks to arrive, as they were shipped from the UK and i'm in Canada... I started with the above 6 seeds, but have a few more from this order for next time or if I have any accidents..

- Seeds were germinated in soaked paper-towel and placed in a folded kerchief (for darkness) on top of my computer sub-woofer speaker (warm).

- Germination took ~48 hrs - 100% germination, 6/6.

- Planted germ'd seeds into small 2" peat-moss cups and placed in plastic domed 'Jiffy starter kit' with a heating pad in the bottom. Watered the soil before and after planting.

- Placed under regular bathroom vanity light (24hr), and all seedlings broke surface within 2 days time.

- Removed plastic dome lid and placed tray with plants in white tub under the 400w MH. Placed small desk-fan beside the tray and set on low, blowing lightly on plants to build stem strength.

- Put humidifier in room near tub edge - the humidity is really low in the room and hard to keep above 35% when the light is on - when the light is off, it gets as high as 60% with the humidifier running.

I will add pictures of them soon - they've just turned 1 week old today since breaking surface.... please feel free to comment/crit - I can use any and all help!!

Okay here's a few pics from this evening...

Week 1 - Seed to seedling

Pic#1
- My growroom, the spare bathroom.

Pic#2 - Alice, my Bubblicious #1 seedling
Pic#3 - Barb, my Bubblicious #2 seedling
Pic#4 - Candy, my Bubblicious #3 seedling
Pic#5 - Doris, my Dreamtime #1 seedling
Pic#6 - Deb, my Dreamtime #2 seedling
Pic#7 - Beth, my Blue Cheese seedling (fem)

Once again, please take a close look and let me know any of your comments and suggestions.

I have them on a 19/5, light/dark cycle right now with the temperature ranging from 25 degrees C to 32 degrees C. It's difficult to keep the room humid right now, but it's keeping in the 35% to 60% range. The light really dries out the soil/cups, so i've been watering twice a day with pH'd down water at about 7.2 pH.

Hi Dayzt, congrats on starting your grow, it looks very organized already so im sure you are going to do fine
I like it that you gave names to the plants, cause it helps follow the thread and not get confused between plants.

One thing I noticed from your pics is that they are bit too tall... they are stretching to reach the light. They should be shorter with bigger leaves. You have a 400W MH, thats plenty of power, you just need to get the light a lot closer, but at the same time make sure you dont burn them. A lot of people save electricity by just putting a few cfl when the plants are this young cause you can just stick the bulb almost right next to the seedling.. making sure they stay short and develop a lot of nodes... which is what you really want.

Im on my fist grow as well... I havent worried a lot about humidity. From what ive read, you really need t about humidity is if you have it too high since mold could grow on your buds and ruin your whole crop. The only time Ive heard you really have to worry about low humidity is when you are trying to clone, so the cuttings dont dry out, but for the veg stage you should be fine...

Subscribed to your journal, I´m really interested in that blue cheese

Hey Tatan! Thanks for tuning in! I know there's a bit of a stretching issue going on with my babies... The problem I'm having is that my big light dries out the soil faster, the closer it is to them. I've been having to water them twice a day as it is due to them drying out so fast...lol...but I moved the light down closer last night for most of the light cycle - we'll see how they look today after the light comes on again (they're in the dark right now). I have them on a 19/5 cycle to save some electricity.

The new leaves are all getting bigger every day and they seem to all be a nice dark green (sign of good photosynthesis) and pointing 'up' which i've read is a good sign.

I have a small fan blowing across them constantly to keep them moving and make the stems strong - this adds to the dryness however...

I'm thinking of repotting them into my 6" pots this weekend though...what do you think? Should I repot now or wait until they reach the 2 week point??

....updated pictures coming this evening. Stay tuned!!!!

Heya Dayzt,
I would say wait to repot them. You want them plant to fill out the current container a little before repotting, ive read that it helps the roots use the soil better in the next container.

Hmmmm....ya i've read that too. It's usually around the 2 week mark I think. The reason I was thinking of repotting early was because of the initial stretching - that way I can bury the long stem under soil and avoid them from toppling over before they are 2 weeks old.... thoughts?

I dont know... what you are saying sounds right.. but I was going to say no to repot now especially seeing how fragile they look, but if you plan on burying the stem a little, that should be fine...
