first dwc cfl grow

This thread is just a continuation of my first thread: first dwc bubbleponic grow
the last one was too spread out! too many posts. ima try and keep this one more compressed.

Quick summary:

1 18 gallon rubbermaid DWC with
6 net pots [rockwool in hydroton medium]
3 Topfin XP-60 dual output airpumps with
6 Topfin 4" airstones
3 Barneys Farm Utopia Haze [Fem]
2 G13 Labs Thai Superskunk [Fem]
1 G13 Labs White Widow [Fem]
4 Daylight 26w CFLs for vegging
8 Soft White 26w CFLs for flowering
3 Quarts nutes: Fox Farms Grow Big, Big Bloom n Tiger Bloom
--Will have second 18 gallon rubbermaid when flowering begins [3 pots each]

all in a little gangsta ass 2.5' x 6' closet.

"this wont be my first grow but will be my first serious grow. ive been fuckin around with bagseed for a couple months now. Ive been trying diffrent things with 5 little seedlings including organic soil, soilless perlite grow, simple draining reservoir hydro pots, plant foods for soil, liquid plant food, even growing in a bottle of hydro solution. I did alotta experementing just to see what I could and couldnt do with my plants when it was time to drop my nuts on some real seeds and equipment. I prettymuch killed 4 plants and the last one got abillion little gnat larvae in the soil eatin up its roots. had to transplant it.enough rambling. anyways. here's the plan.

first off... I'm not doing soil. I want the plants getting exactly what they need and not have to work for it. so I'm going hydro. I was planning on getting the Stealth Hydroponics Bubbleponics 6 pot system but I'm thinkin I can deff make that shit myself for half the price and have more money for lights.

second... I was workin with some regular old bagseed. I learned a lot and I'm glad those dead ass seedlings werent something I really count afford to kill. so now originally I wanted the 'big bud' strain seeds cuzza their yeild. then I found out not every seedbank ships to the us and theres better strains n then I was told about the Attitude seedbank."

okay so fast forward:

so i went to check my mail today andOOOH SHIT WHAT THE FUCK theres a pretty ass package from europe.
what do u know! i got a "t-shirt and stickers". and them stickers was steath as fuck.
ok so now i got my 3 utopias, 2 superskunks and the white widow in distilled water waitin for them bitches to crack.
i ordered last thursday and its friday.. so they are pretty fast and thats good cause i was getting so fuckin anxious
yuhh

so an update:
-i got my closet lined in DOLLAR STORE ass wrapping paper. i said fuck $30 on mylar n got that $1 wrapping paper thats like mylar on the reverse side.. bout $6. and i lined the lid in it too, pix soon
-i found out my rubbermaid wasnt lightproof even tho its dark so i wrapped that bitch in black duct tape.
-i got a digi thermometer and timer for the lights
-oyeah and i got a light fixture, put 3 2-way splitters in it and now i got 4 daylight 26watt cfl's ready to burn in that bitch
-got a ph meter
-airstones and check valves!
i think all im missin is ph up n down solution and a lil fan cause that lil closet gets pretty hot

so i got it all ready.
hydrotons soakin. dwc is sterilized. got the pumps n lights hookd up. foxfarms on deck. beans germin.
just waiting now. and waiting. fuck i need a newport.

2 weeks ago the beans was germin
8 of em popped
i put em in their rockwool cubes in a humidity dome for a week
4 survived

1 week ago i put them in the bubbler.
im going to count that as week one.
2 thai super skunk, a utopia, and a white widow
everybody except the white widow is growing out of control
actually the ww died... the stem and cotyledon leaves turned yellow, but i left it in its rockwool cube as if it was alive and it actually came back and grew it first set of leaves. not its on its second set, but growing at a very slow slow pace. looks like a seedling but its noticeably growing.

now instead of 6 i got 4... kinda 3 til the ww gets a good set of big leaves and can grow faster. i plan on making 2 utopia clones when it gets taller. heres a picture update.

hey i was wondering how long did u leave the the dome on the plant? Also when the dome is on was the plant is you reservoir, or did u leave it in only the rockwool and then transplanted it to the container

i left the dome on until the sprouts got their 2nd set of leaves [not counting the 1st cotyledon leaves]. i put them in the rez when i saw the tap root coming out of the botom of the cube and for the first week i had the water level high enough that half of the cube was submerged. the next week i put less water, the water level was about and inch or 2 under the bottom of the cube, about an inch under the net pot if u have n inch of hydroton under the cube in the netpot

looks good... how high is your water level in your resevoir? are the roots submerged in water? just curious becasue i was thinking of doing something similar to save money as well....

the water level is like 2 inches lower than the bottom of the net pots. just a lil small gap for gas exchange
