hey all,
for my first attempt at hydro, i'm going to use hempy buckets. it is a great way to learn hydroponics. no moving parts to let you down! pumps, air stones ect. i'm 20 days in from seed.
Mandalas speed queen. he's got great gear so this should be good? as long as i do what i'm suppose to and don't screw up too bad..lol.
so to get you up to speed, i planted 5 seeds on feb14th, 4 out of 5 popped on the 18th. i'm using general hydroponics nutrients with the lucas formula. ph is 6.2.

day 13. and day 20...

as for my gear.
i'm using a 400watt lumatek ballast. sylvania mh/hps bulbs. i'm growing in a 8'L x 4W x 6.5 H cold cellar. i bought and wired a ranco etc temperature controller. the best $70 bucks i ever spent. http://www.rancoetc.com/ the sensor is set at the top of my plants so there is very little chance of burning. you can set them up for heating or cooling.

4 five gallon buckets with a 1/4 inch hole drilled 2 inches from the bottom. filled with 75% perlite and 25% vermiculite.

i water with the lucas formula everyday until the tap root hits the res. once this happens the plant should explode with growth. hempy recommends watering every two days after this happens. some people water every 3-4 days depends on the plants imo.

i put my buckets on large pot holders, and let the runoff drain into the holders. then i just use the excess to water my other plants around the house.

hope this helped you out?

these buckets are so easy to set up and run!

i have been growing for around five years. one indoor grow in soil, which turned out good. i have grown outdoors with great success!
this method is my favorite right now!!
i figure another week or so and these babies are going to explode!!

i water everyday in coco and they love it, i was wondering. each bucket has a resevoir but how does it gets the oxygen? do you have something oxygenating the water or is it just flood for a bit then drain? if you wanna check out the link in my sig its my current journal, with big bang strain, a mazar-i-shariff, and a kush bagseed 5 females in week 2 of flowering. they are doing pretty good. anyway your will probably boom once you start feeding them everyday maybe a milder formula than the lucas. the one i use is 6/9 ml micro/bloom and works pretty good. im using the damn test tube and ph drops right now untill i get my new ph calibration solutions for my digi meter. anyway im ranting now, good luck on this grow and keep us posted!!

mr bitti..
you just water until it starts to drain out the hole. it's really just that simple.
it is nearly impossible to over water your plants with hempy buckets. as the perlite traps air within itself allowing the plants roots to always be in contact with oxygen.
hope this helps?
i actually have started reading your post. looks real good!
good luck!
if you have lots of time, this is a great thread to check out. https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/59705-hempy-collective.html

okay that makes perfect sense man, that link came up refused for some reason but i understand how it goes now. why 6.2? you have had problems with calcium absorption at lower ph? just saw the description on that strain and it looks like an amazing strain. i think you might want to veg them for a few weeks since it says they stay real short. are you having height problems? i didnt consider this when choosing for this grow and had to kill alot of plants because they grew huge in the coco, i wouldnt have expected it in soil. i barely have 2 feet of actual growing space maybe less i havent measured. anyway happy growing man im exited to see this strain bud out!!

as for the ph, i know a guy who grows monster plants in these buckets. he keeps his ph 6.1 to 6.2 throughout the grow. so i thought i would give it a shot.
i don't have any problems with height. i got 6.5 feet to work with. so i should be ok.
i am vegging for another 2-21/2 weeks, then i'm screwin' in the hps.
ya mandala has great genetics for the price. so i thought i would give it a try. i know his satori is out of this world!
so far i am very happy with this strain. can't wait to see how many female plants i got if any lol!

those look good sir, what strenght of the 8/14 lucas formula are you using? i think they might be ready to get fed a bit more often. id use one plant as experiment and start feeding her more often to see how she reacts. always a good way to test out your genetics without compromising the whole grow. looks good man cant wait 2 and 1/2 weeks to see some signs of sex!!

hey thanks alot!!

for veg i'm using 5ml per gal micro, 10ml per gal bloom. everyday.

flowering will be 8ml per gal micro and 16 ml per gal bloom every 2-4 days.

i know mandala's strains don't like lots of nutes, so i figure i'll stick to what works. so far the shits growing like a weed! no pun intended.
thanks for stoping by!

yea i made that suggestion and forgot my big bangs are heavy feeders, well everything in my cab takes the feed quite well with no burn. stuff looks good, its around that size when they start taking off.
