GrowCab Specs

When it was first beamed up to me it looked it this:




After a few trial runs and different setups I finally had the perfect model. Remembering that any grow area needs moving air, cool air being pulled in from below, and hot air being sucked out above I came up with this design.

I'll start at the top.



Squirrel Cage fan sucking air from top shelf around ballast and bulb. It wasnt easy to find, but after destruction of a few room purifiers from walmart I found what I was looking for, cut the hole out uptop and stuck it right in..Next!



I cut a shelf out and made a heat sheild from a picture frame. I used the glass as a heat barrier, and screwed the frame onto the shelf.

The white fan used to be screwed to the bottom of the shelf and it used to rotate and circulate the air great, but the heat caused the plastic to warp and the screwes would no longer hold! (oh no)
so I strapped the cord to a 'hanger' on the top shelf and suspended the fan from the side of the shelf, it doesnt block light over there and air still moves around the box




Next I cut intake holes, and stuck a 4" round booster fan in the side. I have a thermometer and hygrometer on the side, at plant level as well.



I added ducting to the side of the fan so it would pull the cool air at ground level.




When all goes well, I have plenty of space for BIG PLANTS, and tiny clones, the plants have about 20" of head space, and bcuz of the heat barrier and all of thw fans working together the temps never rise above 80*F except in the summer time.



And on the bottom I have plenty of space for storage and for all of my goodies that I picked up on my travels through space.









Altogether I think the martians have given me an ultimate gift from infinte intellegence!

Everyone should have a setup like this in their home.

my plan was to clone/germ on the bottom with some CFLs then the rest would be for veg/flower on a 250hps. my ownly problem was figuring out the air flow. i was thinking 2 80mm intake fans at bottom, 1 120mm fan in the shelf to blow air up to the light, then 2 80mm as output towards the top. my main concern was light leaking from the shelf fan.

thanks for the pics though, def gives me ideas of the soon to be setup

The grow cabinet has handles that U can put a lock on, I did that for a while when I would leave home for work. I was afraid of any 'surprises'...but everything has been A-OK for almost a yr.

I keep a very low profile from outer space lol

Light leaks isnt a problem at all, especially when U use CFL's or fluoro's on the bottom. U dont even have to have a fan on the bottom section if al ur using it for is cloning/germination. BUT if ur planning to veg down there U should reconsider, they tend to have MANY growth spurts while they are growing down there and constantly grow right into the light!
