well I thought I would stick to h202 while they were seedlings and clones and then switch to hydroguard. You may be right. Previously I never used h202 or hydroguard and RO water.
I got a hernia recently so said screw the ro water from a machine. OW, lol. Also I dont have any cal mag on me so I thought if I let the tap sit out they would still get their cal and so on that way. I have read your threads where you say it is way to much and causes all kinds of damage. I have seen what is in my water and it is some of the worst in the country. I was being lazy i guess. I am on my way to the store. Well the hydroguard is what they get now. Also the girls in flower get hydroguard. I guess with so much to worry about all over I let certain areas go lax. Earlier I would haver carted my ro in. I waiting a paycheck or 2 for a ro machine. However a crap load still swear their tap is ok. Screw that.

There are a few lucky people that have good tapwater,
but we are not them. The machine is great. What are you using to lower the pH ?

Ok crew. Notes.
all day off so I watching my seedlings. Both are good. I have RO water suoerthrive and hydroguard now as their feed. I am pouring it onto the plate and letting the cubes soak it up. I like the fact it dries from the upper areas firstleaving the roots to chase it down. The shrivled cotelydon seeding is doing better as a green growth is evident. leaves I mean are going to grow. I think I accidentally helped this seedling out a little too soon. K now. thanks earl. I needed the trip outside to get water.

Ph down is stealth hydro ph down. Ph is 5.8.
My ph meter is broke. Or rather I cant calibrate its cheap ass right. But strips are at 5.6 or so. I have a how to hydro book on cd I got off ebay. It shows the charts for ph. At 5.8 you can see where all the nutrients become available most. I hear though that seedlings like it lower.

yup those are them earl. Hardwater micro. Makes a huge diference. It phs the water down for you too.
In rockwool I had to worry over ph. It was a constant battle. After the hardwater micro i do not worry anymore.

Also for flower on hand I have bloombastic, koolbloom, and bigbud.
lol, I am not using all of them. I hear in doses over 1 tsp a gal kool bloom causes hermies. I hear big bud and kool bloom have been ok. But bloombastic is a 0-20-21. Wow. With enzymes and so, a flower enhancer and stimulator or something in 1. I forget the term. Anyway it is very nice. I got like a few tsps of kool bloom. And a some bloombastic. Anyway, yeah, i got the hardwater micro.

This is how I start seeds.
The paper towel method is not good for the very fine root hairs that the seedling produces. These Root hairs are microscopic, and when you handle them you "set back " the seedling. All of the seeds breeders have the same statement on their websites. "Start the seeds in the medium you are going to grow them in." Rockwool is is kinda of "old Tech" Coco is much more environmentally friendly and cheaper with less pH problems, and nutrient build up. Switch to coco for your next grow and you'll like it. You don't need anything special or to treat it with any pH soak. This is the way I start seeds and is the reccomended method by all seed dealers. I like the coco coir starter plugs. These are four years old and still good as new. I do not re-use them. ![]() Use Hydroton clay pellets. I do re-use these. ![]() Place the plug in the bottom of a three inch net pot and hold it like this so you can scoop the clay pellets into it. ![]() Notice that with the plug on the bottom, this will give us room to add more clay pellets once the plant is larger. This will help block light from the stem and the coco plug. ![]() Flush/Rinse the net pot with clay pellets, until the water runs clear out the bottom. Next, fill your tub with tap water to the bottom of the net pots, with the lid placed like the picture. Mark the water level inside the tub, with a led pencil. Poor the tap water out, and replace with RO or Distilled water. Chlorine is very bad for sprouts root development. Avoid using tap water for sprouting seeds. ![]() With the tub full of RO water at the appropriate level, put the seed in the coco coir plug. I use the screw driver that came with my ph pen. First, I make a new "hole" with the screw driver, and then push the seed in the smaller hole until it just barely disappears below the surface. ![]() If you use the hole in the center of the plug, the seed could fall too low, and have a harder time sprouting. I belive that the best way to plant is with the seed laying on it's side. Getting the seeds planted correctly will greatly increase your chances of getting sprout. Keep the coco plugs moist, but not wet. After a week they should look like this and be ready to move into your growing system. ![]() Growing more plants? Use a larger tub with more holes. Move the plants into your growing system after they are a week old, and start feeding 1/4 strenght nutes. ![]() With DWC, lower the water level to the below bottom of the net pot, after the sprout has roots showing from the bottom. Once you start cloning you can skip the coco and hydroton, and grow with neoprene. .

Damn earl, real nice!
That looks good. I will try the coco. I have wanted to for a while. I have been watching planet green all day. hehe, i am so cheap, i got like 25 rockwool 4 in rw blocksfor like 20 bucks and I figured I was stuck with them. Yeah. Also a faster drying medium I have been looking for. I can feed once or so a day in rw during flower. Duringveg it was like every few days. All this makes getting timers setup a bitch. Good to know about the microscopic hairs on taproots. I figured my method was foolproof. Cool. I am also gonna build an aero cloner soon. I got the misters. Just need to grab a few more things. Plenty of plans all around. Cool, glad fopr the postings. I'd rep but I already did.
