Default First Cfl grow stealth closet dresser
So I started about 11 days ago with some bag seeds from a successfull outdoor grow this summer... Was attitude seeds ak47... Wanted to use these seeds because i spent alot on the summer seeds and it should work out fine!! Im using a closet system with an old dresser i found at a yard sale.. I cleaned it with spitfire and stripped the draws and the middle draw skeleton. I use a wick system because I work freeky hours and im not always home to water... i do mist with a spray bottle twice a day. I have 2 daylight 27 watt cfl on a power strip with 1 23 watt soft white to give it alittle change of spectrum... i have also 2 more 27 watt daylight mounted on the side for the undergrowth when it matures....

I have pics

The temp has been getting up to almost 90 degrees so ive added some fans and tommarrow im adding ceiling store space ventalation.. controling the heat seems to be important but its not affecting the growth all that much.. maybe it is comments?

I have another area for flowering when the time comes I am flowering with cfl's also because this is a experiment and ive had several successful grows already with Hps 150. Fun fun..

Not adding nutes and will keep you guys updated on the progress... I know i have to add light so I ordered a 105 watt full spectrum cfl for 30 bucks + shipping.

If im not responding its cause i spent my dsl money on more seeds and bulbs... ahaha... stay with me im patient and this will a full cycle.

Im getting so pissed off.... I cant figure out how to vent my box outside the closet.... I punched a hole in the ceiling to make a spot for a vent tube but im not having any success getting the air out of the room.. What im confused about is ive used smaller spaces with larger watt lights and it didnt get this hot.... i know that the space is insulated but can that cause the problem...

week five... new growth is lush.. heavy green fan leaves with huge amounts of undergrowth... had some problems with the setup... planted four seeds per pot took two germing sprouts and left this one with another one.. some how the sprout got to close to the root system and was taking nutes from the plant... bad bitch not sharing.. almost lost them both.. pulled the problem and waited a day to water...

Tueday this week watered till drainage appeared to run out the bottom. New growth has been fast and lush... bounce back has me happy... hope its a female... two more weeks of veg and then im going 12-12.. Crosses fingers for a lady!!

new pics are in here take a look....

Using mg organic no additional nutes needed till flower then using 1/4 recommended with aired water tiger bloom....

2-27 watt daylight cfl getting 1 85 watt today.... sides are getting light from 3 - 30 watt full spectrum cfl...

I am proof so far that cfl do work not as fast as hps but half the energy!

comments i give rep

looks good. I veg with CFLs too. Might be better to put one of the three bulbs mounted vertically into the Y-splitter. CFLs emit more light out of the side than the top so setting them at 45 degrees is a lot better. Either way, you probably won't need any more light for veg. I use two 26watt bulbs per plants and they get nice and bushy even at two feet tall.

Thanks for the comment... i know it gives more light at a 45 but im limited on the spliters moving the bulb to far away from the top.. my ability to hang the lights is restricted in the stealth chest of drawers... later i will remove it and just use the closet but I needed to cut down the sq feet to get usable light on the plant.. people may think im crazy for saying that but I started in just the closet and the growth was slow and not nearly as bushy as in the chest... There could have been other factors but in here I can get light to bounce back touching the undergrowth nicely... How much did you harvest with your cfl veging the plant?

Well I've vegged quite a few plants with CFL and then flowered with HPS. Let's just say I'm disappointed with less than 3 oz a piece. But I do grow them to 4-5 feet tall. I've been cramming six 5-foot-tall plants under one 400 watt HPS and pulling over 4 oz off of some of them. A lot depends on the strain and health of the plant but I've recently added a 600 watter to the 400 watt so now I'm hoping for more than 4 oz off every plant.

dam im germing two more bag seeds from some killer i got in mass.. not sure how it will work but we'll see. This one went threw the ringer with handling and transplant so im glad it is alive... had a stragler rogue seed i must of poured in two by mistake it was growing up agains the main stem and stealing nutes and water.. found it flipping the dirt with my finger... im worried about hps here in my town two friends used 400 and both had pigglets knocking on a random talk... neither got poped but they think its the electrical use jump... with 300 watts of cfl im only using 34 dollars a month.. at least triple that so they turned em off and i gave them some cfl... was thinking an early harvest auto flower might work nice with hps high yield and elecrical use break every couple weeks.

What kind of yield you think ill get flowering with 3 23 watt soft white 3000k or so cfl.and two 45 watt full spectrum lights....letting them get to 3 ft tall. not dense i know but still a half oz per plant?

keep checking back ill add more photo's

My 400 watt HPS costs me $26 per month in extra electricity at 12/12. 400 watts is not a lot. My 42 inch plasma tv uses 340 watts. The cops WILL NOT be onto you if you use a 400 watt HPS. The electric company does not work for the police department nor do they let the police monitor their customers' usage. They appreciate the extra business and have NO reason to turn in their best customers to the cops. I especially don't understand why you wouldn't mind using 300 watts of CFLs but 400 watts of HPS is too much. A watt is a watt is a watt. 300 -> 400 is not a big jump.

I have no idea what kind of yield you would get with CFLs. Not worth the effort IMO. All that waiting for buds that could have been so much better? HPS puts out MORE light using the same amount of energy. One of my buddies on this forum decided to try flowering with CFLs after using HPS for years. That was a one-time only experiment LOL. He was quite disappointed.
