Cool SCROG starting from seedlings (Autopot system)
PLEASE SKIP DOWN TO LAST POST- I need daily help!

I am using the smartvalves ($19.95 each) without the autopot's pots. Why should I pay $249-$595 for a bunch of plastic containers? I will be growing at least 6 final plants.

This is my second attempt at a HID closet grow. I want to journal my grow from seedlings and using SCROG. My goal is to keep posts going until I end up with a SCROG that stays in flowering (replacing harvested plants with clones).

Let's start with the seedlings. This pic was taken a few minutes ago and I have babies still popping out. So far, there are 4 Apollo 11, 3 NLxAK47, 6 NLxC99, and 2 NL.

They are Joey Weed and all are invited to comment (1 year and less posts than me, so you can definitely ask)

This is my second attempt at a HID closet grow. Last year, I tried it without ventilation on 250W MH and baked the plants, so they were transplanted outside. I don't want more mistakes like that so I'm really looking for input.

More: I used .25 tsp/gallon of superthrive when seeds were in towels and continued for jiffys. The light is a 42W CFL from HomeDepo. This bulb was a little too big for the aluminum reflector I had so I made another one from a laundry bottle (pic). The 250W MH is about 4 ft above and I turn on for a few minutes a couple times a day now to get them used to intensity.

Day 10
One more Northern Lights x Cinderella99, for a total of seven. So, I guess that will be the main plant as I was hoping. Wanted last jiffy with Northern Lights to pop up as I have only 2 of these. Maybe one is female.

I want to review my plans for putting in a vent using 8"inline fan from closet ceiling to attic above. If you have done this before, please tell me how you did this.
A cardboard tube is to connect hole in closet ceiling below and raise inline vent above the joist in the attic.

-using the 8" diameter cardboard tube (pictured) trace a hole in ceiling and cut out sheetrock with jigsaw

-inside attack, take cardboard tube and duct tape to seal it to ceiling hole.

-suspend inline fan with bungie cords so it is a couple of inches above top of cardboard tube. Not sure where to attach bungie cords in attic (suggestions)? Was thinking I will have to nail some wood between floor joists and then another piece of wood between for support. Not sure how to attach bungie cords to inline fan (suggestions)? Was thinking of just duct taping it to it or wrapping a tight wire or zip tie and hooking in the bungie. I am affraid to drill a hole in the inline fan because of damage.

-duct tape cardboard tube to inline fan

-replace insulation between attic floor joists and around cardboard tube

Should I use any sealants or some kind of expandable foam for airtightness? Is duct tape enough to seal this cardboard tube between attic and closet?

How should I cut and seal the ceiling for space to run power cords? Besides inline fan cord, I want to keep 2 ballasts up in attic to keep their heat out and run their power cords back down into closet.

This is my homemade autopot system. The 3 gal plastic container is kept high on a shelf and filled with nutrient solution. I put one end of tubing in that and suck on it to start it like a syphon. The other end of tube goes into the smartvalve that sits in the tray with the plant pots. Tray will fill to a little over an inch and then shut off. Plants will soak up nutrients in their coir & perlite containers through side vents cut in bottom of pots. This system has already been tested successfully over 3 months with 6 tomatoe plants. I am hoping to repeat it with 8 or 9 females in three trays using 3 smartvalves (1 for each tray).

Light fell on my seedlings and killed them. Shouldn't have used duct tape to hold cause glue on it heated and it slid off. Why can I only grow tomatoe plants with this system without problem. So I guess this was not meant to be and I have no more seeds so I give up.
