sup guys, new here. Thought id find a place to diary my first grow, and glad ive found one fairly populated. I've been lurking the forums for about 2 months reading, i didn't want to join and ask all the same noob questions.

anyhow, im growing 5X lowryders #2 (santa maria's) non feminized. For anyone who hasn't heard of them, they are an automatic flowing plant which are ready to harvest within 9weeks from seed, at about 16" of total height.

heres a pic:





i have quite a small space for growing hence starting with lowryders, if growing "grows" on me, i may make a larger one in the future.

its 2ft, by 2ft, by 2.5ft.





#1 - 6" Fan, couldn't find ocilating that was this small and mountable
#2 - 400W HPS light with reflector
#3 - Thermom, area sits at around 30celcius or 90farenheight.
#4 - Vent to outside by 1ft, tube sealed with airgrates to prevent bugs
#5 - 125W CFL (flourecent) for early stages of growth.
#6 - Wall timers
#7 - Ballast

any question or comments? seeds have been germinating for 24 hours, only question i have, is do i plant root down or root up?

i heard about them a couple weeks after buying the lowryders, lowryders are half that price for 5, but mine are unfeminized. Hope i dont get a bunch of motherfuckers with balls.

they have broken the surface. wahoooooooooo!

id originally planted them 2 inch deep by accident because im an idiot, i started to unearth them and came across some leaves (thats why the pots are only half full with soil, the were originally brimmed LOL!). i left them about 1cm deep and kept the light on them, and when i woke up they were stood up.

i currently have 1, 60watt cfl on them, its supposed to be a 125watt but half of the light got broke on one side when i had it delivered.

how long will they survive on a 60watt between 5 of them, i do have a proper reflector so keep that in mind.

i do have a 400watt hps on standby aswell, but dont really think theres much point yet as they are so small. when should i switch to it?



obviously they are pretty small still, i will do an update next week.

nice set up ... noobryder... i wish i can get a HPS but i have ventilation problems so im going with CFL's will be flowing your journal...good luck with your grow

if i were you i would raise the ballast of the floor incase of spillages etc - water + electricity dont go well together.
