Hello everyone. Long time smoker, first time grower here. I'm growing AK-47 (3) & Big Blue (3) from www.highgrade-seeds.com. Don't have time to go through my entire setup in detail tonight, but I wanted to get my journal going. I'll come back and edit this post later with details of my setup.

Brief history:
Germinated my seeds a week ago tonight. The taproot came out in 2-3 days on each seed and I popped them into a Rapid Rooter tray. Once they sprouted, I set them under my wife's Aerogarden for 2 days since my tent was not setup. It's still not perfect, but it's good enough to use and I can fix it as I go (main issue is trying to hang the light properly around the HUGE Can 33 filter).


Current Challenges/Questions:

1. Heat - It's not too bad, but I'd like to see it drop to the 70s. I have a portable AC I'm considering plugging in.
2. Fan/Tent - I don't think this is a problem but figured I'd check... when my tent is zipped up, the suction from the fan pulls the side of the tent in a bit. I think this is a good thing in that it shows my fan is working well?
3. Hanging the light - I rigged it up with a bunch of zip ties for now.. but I'm thinking I'll get some chain to loop around the filter/fan and hang the light off that.

Please feel free to ask questions, offer constructive advice, etc in this journal. I'm doing this in an effort to learn from those who are more experienced so I certainly appreciate the input.

Sorry for the delay in posting. Been busy working and barely had the time to keep things going in my tent. I think everything is going well. I did run into a situation where the tips of my leaves all started to go brown on me. I figured that was due to overwatering. Bought myself a moisture meter and am watering about every 2-4 days. The brown area stopped progressing and everything seems to be good.


As for my challenges/questions from last time:

1. The heat problem is going away, but only because summer is too. I'm hovering around 77 now which is fine it seems.
2. Tent is still holding up fine. The suction I mentioned in my first post does not seem to be a problem. I imagine if I had a hotter light, it would.
3. Speaking of the light, I still have it hung by zip ties. I did buy some chain, but need to figure out how to tighten up the slack on the cables that came with the light. I lose maybe 10" of height because of that. Likely will unscrew the light next weekend and see what can be done.

I gave my first dose of nutes last night (Grow Big and Big Bloom). 1/2 dose to start with. Next water will be w/o nutes and then after that I'll alternate full strength with water until I move into flowering.

I hope to finish these by the middle of December if possible. I'm just looking for enough bud for my wife and myself until the next grow (so 3-4 months?) I think I may switch to flowering after another week or two. Anyone know if that will cause me any issues? The branches are alternating and the plants all look real healthy.

Dude im going to follow your progress, its funny we germinated around the same time. Im going to China mid December and thats when my grow has to be done, same time as yours. Im using a 150 HPS, this is my 2nd grow, and just transplanted my nine plants into three pots... yes three pots I decided that the odds that all of them are female are pretty slim, ill just cut them down when i see they are male. Also, just like you I started feeding my babies FoxFarm grow big, and will be watering them alternately too. Was looking into getting some bloom big. Haven't thought much about it, but when do you plan to flower?
