not in a scrog setup. It would allow you to fill more screen, and have more budding sites. Having more branches won't lower yield unless the they aren't getting light. In a scrog, the idea is to fill the screen as best as possible, which JG did very well, and then once you start flowering, you remove pretty much any growth under the screen which maximizes the size of the buds. 4x4 600W SCROG 3rd wk flower I know I've posted this link before, but look how his stems look under the screen. Its a great example of topping more then once.
