Why is it that no one can explain to a politician that legalization, taxation and regulation of cannabis in all its forms and ancillary products WILL bring billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs steadily; and with proper legislation, exponentially. Billions to be used on whatever the state feels needs it the most. I would propose a large portion towards the upgrading; statewide, of educational institutions and their systems. Also, part of those billions could go to development of local plants of bio-fuel(cooking grease, bio-waste, bio-mass) reducing carbon footprint and dependency on foreign oil. A few billion could be thrown to develop and expand any smart grid systems to the main metropolitan areas. The jobs are far ranging and require people of all skill levels, from temp jobs during harvest time, to entrepreneurs to develop the limitless businesses ideas that will bring those jobs in.
What jobs specifically you say? Botanists to ensure product quality, dispensaries for the products need people ranging from managers to sales clerks. You will need state regulators maybe an addition to the TABC to monitor the growth and distribution. Designers form grows houses and farmers for outdoor growers. Real-estate and speculation for potential business sites. I could go on and on, you people seem to want to have a voice in this matter so lets talk ideas. The time is now. Jobs and money for a product that has been legally and scientifically proven to be safe and medicinally, medically as well as socially less dangerous than alcohol, hard drugs, cigarettes, prescription medication. And is medically proven to have no addictive or harmful properties what so ever! This has been proven by hundreds of legitimate scientific studies including government funded tests. What is going on in this state and with the country as a whole?
