yup. overnight is plenty. dont leave the pump running either... full vacuum on a heat source at around 110F for 12 hours and youll do good.

Just wanted some input on how long i should vac purge
You can do a full vacuum purge under -29.5" Hg vacuum and 115F in about 30 to 45 minutes, if you want shatter, and as long as it takes to turn that to wax, typically 8 to 24 hours.

your guys times are super quick compared to mine... it takes me a good 6 hours or overnight to get shatter... not 45 mins.

and takes me like 4 days to get wax, not 8-24 hours.. wonder why?

maybe im rinsing with too much butane.. my last rinse was 20g and 2 cans.. a member here recently did 80-90 grams and 2 cans!! crazy.

I'm new but wouldn't you continue to spray untill it comes out the other end clear wether it be 2 cans or 20 if its still coming out golden or yellow keep spraying that bitch.
vacpurge its taking you longer cause your doing it right the lower the temp the better the product imo

yeah, some continue to spray until it comes out clean.. I do. but sometimes I do use too much butane.. and realistically. those last few cans are only pulling out an extra gram or half gram... ive read that some here pull out 7 grams per can. and if they arent pulling out 3 grams of oil per can anymore... they stop rinsing.

could be that they got TONS of material, and prefer quality over quantity as theyll have another 4 or 8 ozs to run tomorrow!

I remember one time I ran 100 grams of nice shake... it took TEN cans for it to stop coming out yellow.. I wonder if I could have gotten away with 3 or so cans though and only 90% of the end yield but a better product.

ive also wondered if its possible to over rinse with butane, especially considering the fact that we are vac purging, then winterizing, then vac purging again...

ive always wanted to do a large run... 5 or 6 can run at least, with 5 or 6 different dishes... one for each can. and see what the results are.

I guess it would come down to wether the impurities in the butane outweigh the cannabinoids, cause if your just spraying more impurities in to your oil then you gaining in oil then its obviously not worth it but if you can spray that extra can or two why not if your just pulling out most of the impurities anyway, only test could tell or by doing it both ways use the same material and use 2 cans on 1 run and 3 on the other and see what happens see if you get a better result using less or more

spray 1 or 2 cans and call it done... THEN a few days later, re spray that same tube. see what you get. ive done it before and after 2 cans (12$) I got about half gram of shitty tasting oil. in the end, that .5g of shit oil isnt even worth 12$ in butane that I sprayed. could have used those 2 cans to extract 3 or 4 grams per can on the next run.

its tough to say. I think the next run I do is going to be BIG because I am winterizing it. and I will spray into 3 or 4 different dishes and go from there.

ive always been an over rinser.. we got a lot of under rinsers here, and they make good shit. the only reason I over rinse is because im cheap and dont run across giant amounts that I can turn into oil. but if I was weed rich. damn rights id be an under rinser too... really all depends how fat the bank and stash jar is haha.

Once you spray it wether with butane or iso you can't let it sit (especially for a day) cause the moisture form the solvent draws out the chlorophyl so yeah it would be gross but all of this shatter and honeycomb stuff I've learned and read about has me all excited for the end of season its play time lol, I'm in a part of Ontario where we have ok weed good stuff if you know the right people, as for oil we have the odd honey oil but its usually real thin and if made with butane you can always taste it, theres lots of black oil around (gross) but I don't smoke black oil as for shatter or honeycomb no body knows what your talking about let alone how to smoke it lol, Hash well we use to get some good import but not for some time now not that I know of anyway, so this year I'm going to introduce my friends to some dabs, lol

dried in 2 hours eh. wtf??

what do you do so much differently?? maybe its because you use to little butane compared to me.

wow im only usin 1 can per 1/2 oz - 1 oz

you think time in purge is strain related??

New Member
no, time in purge doesnt matter on strain. at least it shouldnt. although some wax up faster.

I think after about 1 hour in vac at 110F. most would be a nice shatter and consider it finished. if you want to continue and wax it, then thats where it all changes and new laws seem to come into play haha

I feel 1 can per oz is way too little... it takes half a can for anything to even start coming out for me. and that second can is still super golden and potent as its coming out the end.. how much do you normally run? I only run an oz... but if you were running something like 16oz, then yeah, 16 cans would seem right. but not running small amounts, in my extractor anyways.

I've been packing my tube with about 6 oz lately. And I'll use 3 cans if spraying trim. Or 4 with ground buds.

Cold butane, cold column, cold material Will give you the most out of each can of butane.

I insulate my tubes with the reflective bubble insulation. Along with pre freezing my cans of butane. I most of the time use bone dry, room temp material when I spray.

I yield pretty good too :)

Anybody ever shake the shit out o' can o' butane?..

Shaking will warm the butane, warm tane produces a bit more initial pressure.

With Colibri cans, this has increased my yield.. However, not one other brand has produced the same result.
Weird right?

I agree with cold butane 100% for a few reasons.

I like it to stay liquid in the dish while im spraying.... less chance of explosion if its not evapping already and pooling, plus you dont wanna be breathing that shit in the whole time.

also, there is less pressure which lets the butane soak in the weed longer (I think) and youre dealing with moreso a liquid and not a gas shooting everywhere from the end of the tube.. mine at least.

also, sirdabs a lot.... were still waiting on the piranha plant dome pics!!!!!

Unfortunately, in order to fund my grow, sadly...dome found a new home..

The deal was essential, as I needed the cash to fund a grow tent that was needed asap,
I had all the gear and three plants all over 3' tall..but no room.

Wife was going to kill my ass if I'd dropped another 300$ on a tent, and have a” novelty” item.
I know that's not a lot of cash to some, but shit..money is tight.

I'm going to gonna call bullshit on myself, since nobody is gonna believe me...haha.
But, I didn't even think to take a pic..it was packed away in the box it came in, and I was offered 200$.

Broke down and sold it..

I would call bs on myself; so y'all have at it...haha
:)
