Hello, posted a thread earlier but was told 'Riu likes the honest approach." I said i was using Uranium enriched soil, only to be ripped on by my lamenes. So Heres my question straight up...

Is this soils Ph ok for growing marijuana?? The only clues you really have are in the name, and on the web site it says its for slow growing plants that need fast drainage... Help greatly appreciated:peace: I have 5 Goot mitsy beans, just dont want to fuck it up.

Ha nice avatar, that nasty dirty sanchez.

Yes, isnt that good? I mean, Its really airy soil, great for rapid root growth. Right? And i here sand is a great additive for better drainage and airation. I mean aslong as theres enough water and nutrience you would think the more airier and 'light' the soil is the better it is for fast growth.

Anyway, so are you suggesting i just invest in a soil test kit? i guess i might have to, but id prefer some knowledge from somone on hear before going out and burning 5 bucks for knowing something someone might already know. Also is it bad that it has a wetting agent?

Is this like a bet you have to try and grow in this soil or is it just what you have lying around?

I think you could make it work, but it isn't what anyone would buy given a choice.

Ya exactly, all i have laying around. I only have 5 beans of good genetics (mitsy) and want to get those male percentage rates as low as possible. So if youd recomend for this matter buying some better soil, im game...

I use1pt mushroom compost, 1pt peat moss, 1pt perlite, both non-miracle grow. I add 1 tablespoon of dolomite lime per gallon of soil. This has little nutrients and I treat it as if it were promix and begin with botanicare at day 8. I wouldn't gamble with the mg soil it could fry your plants.

I dont think MG is frying anything. Alot of commendable growers use MG. Even FDD grows his trees in MG. So im not woried about frying. Or by frying do you mean stressing which in turn might result in males?

Intresting mix, though im more for the bag of soil thats good to go...

I like Pro-Mix from Home Depot. Pre-mixed and ready to use.

My problem with the cactus mix is the lack of lime and what the sand does to the watering system. If you are careful though and your water is the proper PH and you know how to water properly you could use it. I think that soil is going to hold very little water though on account of the sand and you will have to water more often which may lead to problems if you aren't careful.

Yes, buy better soil.
Think about it.
You got good seeds, why cheap out? Garbage in garbage out.

As to the lower males? Sex was determined when the bitch got pregnant.
(hermies are usually environmental)

People seem to like the Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil.
(try to find a soil with no time released fert in it.)

thanks for the input picasso. Ya the lack of lime isnt to hot. Yeah i began using it and it does tend to dry up pretty quick, so im going to be reall carefull right now seeing how sprouts need good amounts of water with my experience, or they will fry into a hair. So good point. Though my love for marijuana should do be good with remembering. But i am going to be moving them out into the woods, and wont be able to be checking them daily so very good point ounce again. Im definatly going to have to go with something more exorbant. As to water im using rain water i collected, hear it has a nuetral ph.

Big budballs- is that legit on the predetermined statement? Thats very intresting. That calms me a bit seeing how i have been reall paranoid of this. But then why do i hear that stress increases male rates? im a lil confused...

The best thing ive seen in my area is this soil called Black Gold. Legit?

I come down on the side that sex is determined by the DNA of the plant. All we can do is make a female go shemale, but everything else is out of our hands.

i'm still an uber n00b at weed growing, but i've been growing "normal" plants for quite some time now. i'm not sure, but don't weed plants like more of an acidic soil? i've heard that lower ph can influence there to be more females than males, but that in order for them to be happy & healthy, they need slightly more acid than neutral... am i correct?
