Where would one be able to buy large outdoor soil containers for growing such as 50 gal - 100gal.?
What is the dollar range also? I've read about people using them but I have no idea where to purchase them. Thank you in advance!

I've gone to the nursery and bought 1 gallon cont for 25 cents even bought some 15 gallons for 10 ea the bigger ones are harder to get . get some grow bags at the local hydro store. they go up to 300 gallons at least and last 3+ years. I made wood boxes from 2/12doug fir. lasted 8years so far and I can use them a few more for sure. there's a bunch of ideas for you brother. Nuggs

I have some kiddy pools I used two grows ago so this time I'm thinking
of putting a few cut boards around the inside to be able to bring the soill
level up higher cause those pools are shallow for any substantial amount of soil.

Large trash cans would be good although I've never seen them used for a grow,
Clone plants roots like to reach out sideways in soil if possible, so in a trash can the roots will mostly go downwards
so I'm wondering if plants will be ok with this opposed to kiddie pools or is there no difference really and either
will be fine? Thank you for taking the time out to post, I really appreciate it a lot.
Thank you also nuggs! I will look into the grow bags at the hydro store also.

You guys are just too cool! Thank you!

Here you go:

http://www.smartpots.com/buy-containers

I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend cloth pots (Roots Pots/Smart Pots/Geo Pots) because of
(1) Root Pruning - The roots grow through the cloth, and are pruned back when they hit the air. This = Bigger root mass = Bigger plant
(2) Soil Temperature Regulation - Plastic pots can get hot in the sun and cook your roots.
(3) Drainage - They're cloth, but still durable and drain very well. No hole drilling!
(4) Low Stress Training - The SMART POTS combined with green velcro plant ties = AWESOME!!! Just loop the velcro around the branch
and stick it right to the CLOTH pot. Allows adjusting of plant ties WITHOUT MAKING HOLES!!

Good luck!

I use nothing but Smart Pots for my soil grows indoor and outdoor, and they are offered from 1gal - 400gal sizes.

My local hydro store carries these and this is the route I will take.
Thank you everyone, I appreciate your help very much.
The best to you and yours always!

I was thinking about getting some chicken wire with small holes ,(10mm) and making a pot shap with no bottom then wrapping with glad wrap end to end , not around

not to sure what you mean with the rapping plastic but, be careful with that especially the bottom for drainage and the sides for venting. plants roots love air

It's tricky to explain but il try my best , it has 100% drainage because it has no bottom , You take a 3.1 x 1 m length of chicken wire . Join end to end with cable ties so you have a 1 m high 1 metre diameter chicken wire cylinder with no top or bottom , you then get your roll of glad wrap and and wrap in such a way that your passing the roll through the midle of the cylinder then back around the outside ,top to bottom , but not going all the way around it , so you still keep the hole at each end

It's not like you're going to be able tip move it why not just digg a hole and fill it with good soil. Big holes work great, way better than chicken wire wrapped in moose balls our whatever you're trying to do, it's not rocket science it's digging holes and it's free on tip of being very successful

Theres many reasons people use pots instead of planting in the ground, digging holes at ground level isn't always the best way to grow , for eg last year I had 25 plants in holes filled with good soil , they were all about 5 -6 ft and halfway through flowering and due to some small cyclones out to sea up and down the coast we had out of the ordinary rain for a month straight , the result was all but 2 plants dying , if they were planted in large pots with no bottoms I think they would of had good enought drainage to survive. Next year il plant in raised beds , probably on a hillside for better drainage just encase mother nature tries to fuck me in the ass again, il be prepared this time haha

Yeah, they're not as cheap as plastic, but for a guy like me (who has a lot of gear that is inconvenient to store)
the fact I can store 20 pots in a small space, folded up, plus the benefits to the root zone, I'm willing to spend a bit
more for the convenience.

I bury plastic pots in the ground with larger drainage holes so the roots can grow out of the bucket. Lots of gophers around here.
