winterizeing bho

Yes I understand the polar/non polar thing. I didn't filter just butane, I filtered butane and ethanol mixed together. Then because butane boils around 32 degrees and ethanol boils around 173, the butane is removed first. Then vacuuming is done without heat, because ethanol boils out at 28hg at sea level under vacuum.

I want to know if it matters how far you take the butane down before you add ethanol. Is it better to A. Make BHO, then dissolve in ethanol, winterize, then filter or B. extract with butane but then add ethanol right away before its reduced, then winterize?
Either should work.

so you guys are saying to take the butane oil, splash it with 99% ISO or ethanol, then cook it off again and youll get an even more refined product?

no u dilute ur oil in the solvent freezer for an extended period of time and the plant waxes r supposed to solidify and then u strain them out i call bullshit as i have tried this 5-6 times without straining a damn thing

i just tried it. I filtered out a lot. but now I have this weird seperated goo in my dish. Looks like qwiso with seperated alcohol or water in it. i put it in the oven at 170 for 30 minutes but its still seperated and weird.
going to put it on top of the cable box for a few days and see if its condensation water and not alcohol and will just take awhile to evap.

hmmm interesting.id like to learn more about that and maybe give it a try. ethanol sounds scary.. never seen or heard of it before. no idea where to get it or what its used for. sounds just another way to lose money by turning 10 grams into 8 grams!!!! this shit just keeps getting less and less. pretty soon were gonna be getting 1 hoot out of an oz!

Ethanol is what you enjoy when drinking alcohol.

It's a more concentrated end product. Those 8 grams still contain the cannabinoids from your original 10, but the coughy plant waxes have been removed.

I haven't been around RIU for a little while, but I used to see GW around cannabisknowledge.nl and I thought he's always been a part(or larger) of skunkpharm research and they giving classes in Oregon if you want to sign up.

Fadedawg and Graywolf are the same. The name Graywolf isn't available on this forum.

Gray in Cherokee means "faded blue" and as a Euro/Native American mutt, dawg probably fits better that wolf, so it is all good.
