Mohican's 2013 Season with Compost, SS, and EWC

Hi All,
I am starting a new thread for 2013.

Mixed up 2 trashcans of Super Soil and they are cooking.

Started my first worm bin.

Had to put my beautiful black compost out on the flowers because it had Kellogg's poison soil in it The lilacs will be happy.

Also planted some strawberries (4 different strains) and a beefsteak tomato to go with the golden teardrops that are already a giant bush!

Transplanted the Plumeria to a 31 gallon can. Can't wait to see how big she gets this year!

Put flypaper sticky roll strips around my citrus tree trunk to catch whatever bugs (probably earwigs) are eating the new growth.

Need to decide whether I want to mainline the Ace of Spades outside or just let it go full blown! Is there any way to tell whether you have the BCS strain before they flower? Stem rub? I guess I could grow all 10 outside until I see which one is the keeper and then cull the others.

congrats on the worm bin. im working on a new compost pile myself. i eat pretty much 100% raw fruit and veggies so my compost pile is rocking! just turned it today and it was steaming hot!! even small compost piles can go a long ways when brewing teas.

i vote to let the ace of spades go without training if you have no height limitations. im sure those in Nugs' camp will vote differently.

good luck on the food garden. i have to put mine on the back burner for the moment as i dont have time. been looking through the seed catalogs though. thinking about placing an order...

Hey Mo, Subbed up for another great season! Did you decide on what strains you're going to grow this year? By the way, Kellogs main ingredient in their "organic compost" is sludge(from human waste), this compost is found in their "Ammend" product. Their soil contains no "Organic Compost". So if you bought their soil and not the "Ammend" product you are fine. Looking forward to this years season! I'm in the process of converting a 10 x 20 carport to a greenhouse.

I saw a cat! Nice soil mix... looks just like mine. This is the first time I'm trying super soil. Will be nice to see how it works for you. And I enjoy watching Mainlining grows as well. Can't wait bro!!!

I tried super soil last year on the mainlined plants. I did not let it cook so I ended up with some burnt tips. I also used the grow guano not the bloom guano - oops

There are actually two cats in that picture if you feel like playing find the cat in the picture. Started a new batch of compost in the bin. Grass clippings, dandelions, a black banana, some water and a little Jobe's compost starter. Need to fry up some eggs tomorrow so I can use the shells in the worm bin.

Can't decide how I want to start this season. Give the LED another shot, start a big giant plant now, grow some mainlined girls in July...

no indoor scene at all? my vote would be to start your AOS indoors, give em a single topping, then go outside after determing sex of rooted tops.

this would obiously mean a single topping, IE, not untrained per say, but not mainlining for sure. my BCS AOS and JTR AOS are nearly impossible to differentiate in veg, at least not till they branch out some (my jtr was tighter, BCS is 3x stretchier in nodal distance and branching).

Indoors under hps, my untrained JTR pheno AOS had reallllllly bendy stems in supersoil untrained. she was only aboue 28 inches high, but every branch other than the main cola touched the soil under her 3 zips haha.

Spent the weekend in the garden Planted onions, potatoes, pineapple crush strawberries (thimble-sized yellow pineapple flavor), and Provence Lavender. Cleaned out 6 planters and mixed up a bunch of soil. Now that my farm planting is done, I can focus on the medical plants Ralph the tooth fairy is delivering some Dutch genetics for a test in the SoCal sun. So many top-shelf beans! I think I will pop them all and pick the top 8 for my garden. What is the best way to determine a winner at a young age?

Morning Mo,

I usually consider overall vigor, resin production on vegging plants (if any), stem rubs, and the consistency of internodal spacing when looking at new seedlings.

In my eyes if you have a plant that is vigorous and can keep uniformity then it is worthy.

Smell is important but can also become more prominent in later stages of growth.

I look to see if seedlings are producing any trichomes at an early stage, because in general that is the tell tale sign of a plant that will produce copious resin during flower.

I tried some of the Bubblegum Mulanje last night. Whoa was it powerful. I smoked 3/4 of a joint solo. Big hits without any coughs. No head rush feeling either. Just numb lips. I jumped in the shower and I was starting to lose focus but still fairly under control. Then it hit me full on! I could not remember how to take a shower. I had to keep telling myself I was high and that I needed to relax. Seemed like I was in there for hours - but it was just 15 minutes. I spent the next hour like a bumbling paranoid zombie and then I reached the comfort zone. I was there for the next three hours. No paranoia, full of great ideas and funny jokes.

This morning I feel great! No pain from this weekend's chores.

It smelled like bubblegum on the plant, smelled like catpiss drying, and smells cheesy in the jar! I gave some to Subcool at the LA Cup. I do not know whether he tried it yet.
