Green Crack nooB grow journal

Excited about starting my first journal. I've read and learned a lot from this site already, and am excited to share my first grow.
I'll start off saying I'm a medical patient in the state of MI, and am my own caregiver.
I've got 4 green crack clones i picked up from a guy I met at the local hydro store. The ladies are in a 5x5 tent from ebay. I have a 4" intake fan blowing 165 cfm air in with a hepa filter attached. For lighting i have an 8 bulb T5 from hydrofarm. I picked up a humidifier from walmart and a rotating fan just circulating air and helping strengthen the plants.
I picked them up 2 days ago 3/14 so I'm just going to say there in day 2 of veg....I'll figure out the exact age later today.
He had already started LST training them and i just moved them around to help more today.
Temps are 72min 83max and humidity hovering around 50% most of the time.

Well, here they are, enjoy and thanks for looking:hump:DSC01889.jpgDSC01893.jpgDSC01894.jpgDSC01890.jpgDSC01891.jpgDSC01892.jpg

Did they come in the condition I see them in, or did they slowly work into that? Am looking at leaf edges in pic 6, leaf tips in pic 6. .. leaf colors in the back of the closest pot, pic 5.. leaf tips in pic 4.. and a few other things. pH of your soil? pH of the water? is it RO? what nutes are you running, if any? Dosage and schedule? medium composition? (out of a bag, or custom mix?) If out of a bag, what type? Do those pots have adequate drainage? (Yes, there's reasons I'm asking these things)

thanks for asking actually. Yeah I haven't done anything to them other than put them in the tent under the light since i got them. (2days ago) I haven't even watered them yet. I picked up clones a week before this and lost them from over(loving)watering them.
My tap water runs at a PH of around 8. i use genhydro test kit. I'm going to feed them tommorow, and want to use nutes, but I'm not sure of how old they actually are, and according to the chart you use 2 different ones depending on the week. I picked up an advanced nutrient buy 3 get 1 free deal at the hydro store with sensi grow a and b, 3 for 1 comes with b-52, big bud, overdrive, and voodoo juice. I want to do the first feeding half the reccomendation that way if i screw anything up, i'm not overfeeding them. When i asked the guy what he was feeding them he said he kept ppm at 400. i vaguely know what this means, but i don't think it answered if he was using nutes? anyways i found a pretty cheap(probably not greatly reliable) PPM meter off amazon for about $25. at least it will give me a vague estimate.
As far as soil, he might've mixed it himself, I really have no idea. I bought a 25lb bag of battco soil from the hydrostore I'm going to transplant them in a couple weeks when they get bigger. not sure if your familiar w/ the battco soil? the guy at the hydro store said it's as good as the good stuff w/o the price... so hopefully he's right.

pH is -way- too high ... hopefully you're using pH down in some fashion - here are the ranges vs type of grow so you can get a better idea. Look at what a pH of 8 gets you.

As for nutes.. do not run the strength on the bottle in any fashion.. start out with 1/4 strength, or an 1/8th to err on the side of caution until pH is fixed as nute lockout won't help you any with the feeding.

yeah i was going to edit after i read what i wrote. My tap water is 8, and I have adjusted to 6.5 when i watered the last set of clones i had. but like i said i overwatered them and they havne't had any growth, root growth, but nothing vertical, yellowing of leaves and dying so i'm focusing my attention on these 4 i just picked up.

I haven't watered these at all yet. I stuck my finger 2-3 inches into soil and it feels moist still. I'm giong to figure out how old they are today, and feed and water them tomoro, with the correct nutes to give them.

Alrighty, was just making sure the pH was getting addressed so there would be no surprises or nasty things to come.. if the issue persists or you need guidance, by all means post and I'll provide input on how to fix the issue - there are also quite a few others who can provide solid input on anything from plant grow issues to lighting changes, pests, etc.

Thanks a lot Figong, that's one of the reasons I wanted to start a journal, is from reading a lot of other ones and all the advice that was given. I appreciate the knowledge and help of anyone that wants to throw in their two cents.
I just stepped in the tent to see what you were talking about with the leaves in the pictures. Are the big leaves drooping like that because they need watering?

leaves drooping can be over, or under-watering depending on other symptoms that may be present. I would suspect at this point based on what you'd said with how wet the soil still was that it may need a day or so to recover from at least a partial over-watering.

Are those pinkish-red main stems I am seeing or do I need to get my glasses for this one? lol

Nothing super-critical at this point.. as many of the pinkish-red stems point to a stress.. which could be repotting, a very slight nutrient imbalance, and a few other things. It's not a danger sign / red flag as anything major, but something to keep an eye on. A bit cooler temp than it wants can also cause this, and plants that exhibit this should by no means suffer in yield unless they're severely neglected in other ways as well. Tis just the plant telling you that based on its genetics.. things are not exactly how it wants them. (I would at this point rule out a genotype that has your stems red based on the strain you told me you have)

would say 70-80 for 'day' .. 10 degrees cooler for 'night'... so 75 day 65 night should work .. with a humidity of 50-60% Below 60 will stress the plant in question.

yeah haven't gotten cooler than 68 so far, which i'm happy with. I'm out for right now though. I'll check back tonite to see if anyone else has posted questions or anthing

Quick little update.
I called the guy i got the ladies from and he said they're about 5 weeks old from establishing roots as a clone. He was using advanced nutrients but a tea, and a couple other i don't have. I ordered a $25 ppm meter. i know it wont be precise but at least i'll get a better ball park area than completely not knowing.
I swore they've grown a good bit since from when i went to sleep to when i woke up.

Do you take measurements? If so, you can use Herb.IQ to keep track of all things grow-related, and encrypt it to a solid standard as well. Software was written by one of RIU's own :D Back in just a lil' bit!
