Finding a good caregiver

Morning all I just have a question about finding a good caregiver that will have meds that will work best for me.
Well I was going to go to the dispensary to pick up my meds from the wellness connection but after reading about them and how much they charge for meds I was like no way! And the only other place close to me in Biddeford is not accepting more people until may 1st.
So I guess my question is , How do I go about finding a good caretaker that can give me meds for a price I can afford and be a good med that will work for me" Im looking for a high cbd strain for pain and on the will just wreck me for sleep and eating".
Also do some caretakers give you a sample to see how their meds work?
Any response would be great, Thank you all for reading :peace:

You may need to try a few different caregivers to find a good fit. Probably want to find someone local.

I have some open patient slots. I get my stuff tested by know your grow labs when I can, but they aren't in the state a lot. So I have the numbers on some of my strains, but not all of them.

I will sell 1 or 2 gram samples. I have some little containers for doing that.

and I have a question that I hope one of you can answer, can I go to more then 1 caregiver?
Like if one guy has a great med for my sleeping and eating and the other guy has something better for my pain

No you can't!!
You can only designate 1 caregiver. You can grow some of the 6 plants that you are allotted. As long as the total between you and your caregiver doesn't exceed 6. But you can't split between two caregivers or a caregiver and a dispensary.

^^your right. If in not mistaken it said a patient could designate 2, splitting the plant count. Just looked it up, you are absolutely correct

you can, as long as you do not exceed your 2.5 ounces every 15 days
The 2.5 oz limit every 15 days is only listed for dispensaries, and it is kind of hidden for patients in the "scope" section of the law. If the patient gets caught buying more than 2.5 oz in a 15-day period, there is a $200 fine. Lol. It's like a speeding ticket for the patient if they get caught. But it doesn't look like the caregiver would be breaking any rules by selling more than 2.5 oz in a 15 day period.

22 §2428. REGISTERED DISPENSARIES

7. Maximum amount of marijuana to be dispensed. A dispensary or a principal officer, board member or employee of a dispensary may not dispense more than 2 1/2 ounces of prepared marijuana to a qualifying patient who has designated the dispensary or to a primary caregiver on behalf of a qualifying patient who has designated the dispensary during a 15-day period.

22 §2426. SCOPE

3-A. Penalty for fraud. Fraudulent misrepresentation regarding lawful possession or medical use of marijuana and fraudulent procurement under this chapter are governed by this subsection.

B. A qualifying patient who obtains marijuana from more than one source with the result that the person receives more than 2 1/2 ounces of prepared marijuana in a 15-day period commits a civil violation for which a fine of $200 must be adjudged. [2011, c. 407, Pt. B, §31 (NEW).]
I guess if the patient gets dried "unprepared" marijuana instead of "prepared" marijuana, they can receive up to 8 lbs. Haha.

1.17.2 Incidental amount of marijuana. Incidental amount of marijuana per patient means up to 12 female nonflowering marijuana plants; an unlimited amount of marijuana seedlings, seeds, stalks and roots; and up to eight ( 8 ) pounds of harvested dried unprepared marijuana in varying stages of processing that are not included when calculating the “allowable useable amount of marijuana.” See 22 M.R.S.A. §2422 (4-A).
A patient could designate one caregiver on Monday morning, change to a different caregiver on Tuesday, then designate a dispensary on Tuesday afternoon. A patient can only designate one caregiver or dispensary at a time, but there is no min time limit. A patient doesn't have to keep a caregiver for longer than 2 minutes. A patient can change caregivers 5 times a day if they want. The law doesn't address it.

I am not suggesting people should do those things. I haven't taken advantage of the "loopholes" in the law/rules. I want to find the patients that are a good fit for me. I am not looking to sell to every patient that wants to buy.

Technically, a patient could bounce back and forth between two (or more) caregivers so long as no plants are going and a new authorization is signed every time he switches.

realistically a patient could sign up with multiple caregivers....no way to check, I don't ask my patients......

Question for you caregivers: Are you allowed, under law, to have paid employees to process mmj?
Is the "rep" system on riu still in use? That question is for anyone.

I believe there was provision for employees in the first version back in '09. There does not appear to be provision for employees for caregivers currently.
