Added 60 watts 10.0 UVB lighting to my grow and have seen massive results... Is there an upside or downside to a good amount of being trichs elongated?

i have the UVB on 10 of 12 hours from flower day 14-41

has anyone had similar results??

*a close up (macro) shot of the trichs would help :) , im not sure if I can add any info in-regards to UVb causing elongated trich development but I will definitely look into that. glad you had positive results with your UVb., what strain are you growing?

macro shots coming up!!! it does help that the strain is Blue Dream from Humboldt Seed Org (leftovers from last run) i have two 600 watt hps running with only one having the uvb supplemented, giving me some type of control to compare to. Unfortunately both blue dreams are under the uvb but i have the pineapple express sPlit up and I can see more trichs on the Pinex under the uvb vs the Pinex under reg HPS. I also see that the trichs are LONG abnormally long lol ... Wondering if that has a benefit or drawback???

*So from what I gathered.. you are running a system comprised of 2x 600hps covering two strains (blue dream / pineapple express)..
All blue dreams are currently supplemented with UVb.. And your pineapple express' are split, some exposed to UVb and the rest aren't..

**You also noticed that the plants exposed to UVb have elongated glandular trichomes.. (Drawback? I would assume =No.. Benefit? I would assume =Yes.. Reasons being that UVb does affect how trichomes mature.. layman's terms, some growers noticed higher potency levels)

*It's still being debated if UVb actually causes more trichome sites to occur on the floral calyxes and bracts; --having more trichomes does not equate to higher potency..

..hope that helps :)

furrrr sure! Thanks for the help, definitely appreciated. Yes to everything you say, i figured that the Blue Dream had better genetics to produce more resin but i think that woulda been a strain to use as a comparison. However the one thing i notice between the pinex is the two under the uvb are more deficient than the control, both are under exact same temps, ph and feedings down to the PPM. Im not a pro or even trying to look like one, just trying hands on ways to make better quality smoke QUALITY>YIELD for me.

*I'm no "pro" either.. just passionately in-love about everything concerning this plant ;) The results we got from blue dream (sativa pheno) exposed to UVb was.. sublime :)

I have noticed no difference in trich formation or amount. But have tested consistently cannabinoid ratio manipulation to my more preferred high likings of more uppy creeper effect and off the charts trippy enhancement. Best tested so far is 10% increase in thc slight reduction of CBd and 7 % increase in thcv in a sativa Dom. Indicas to a lesser degree. IME it takes 150 - 400 ug/cm2 UVB to produce the sought after effects on cannabinoid ratio manipulation. Over 500 decrease yield with no added be benefits. You will have to upgrade your UVB lamps to approach those numbers. If interested I can give you the info on these lamps that are affordable and produce these amounts.

Very exciting. The one thing I noticed as a downfall to the elongated trichs was on buds that were prone to getting brushed upon had fields of trichs with no heads, which to me seems like im losing some essential terpenes etc

*Trichs are so fragile, so much of it is actually lost when people harvest the plant under "rough" conditions.. just wish nature designed them to be more "rigid" haha
