Digital Ph Meter

I was wondering does those yellow pH meters work on eBay. They're only 10 to 15 bucks and seems like they work for what I'm trying to use it for.

just use the ph drops they are so cheap and plenty accurate.

used to have a digital but after having to calibrate a few times its easier and more reliable just using the drops.

Hanna makes an easy to use highly accurate digital ph and temperature meter. You just dip it in and and they are good enough for the medical field. Easy to calibrate as well, you just need a standard solution to ensure you have the right range.

Spend the money and go with Blue Lab! I have gone through a lot of the Hanna meters(pen and the gro check combo) and they suck! They are awesome while they work but they wont last a year.

Man that sucks! I got a Hanna meter a few weeks ago, I guess the hydro store saw me coming, for $185 I hope it works longer then 1 year.

Goddamn man buy that shit off amazon....$185??? Ouch!
It is the Hanna hi98129 I The best price I saw online was 145 = tax and shipping. I try to support the local Hydro store if they have what I want and it isn't horribly over priced. I also saw the same meter advertised for $260 at granger!

Keep it clean and ALWAYS keep the PH probe wet! They sell a storage solution that you put a couple drops in the cap and it is suppose to make it last longer.I kept it clean and wet but it still stopped holding the calibration. The blue lab PH pen was only like 110$ and the PPM pen was only 95$. In my opinion the blue lab is the best.

Did you replace the probe after it wouldn't hold the calibration? I keep mine wet, rinse it with straight RO water after each use. I have only tested it twice, but I have a bunch of the solution. When your stopped working properly did it go crazy or I guess what I really wan to know is how did you notice? How often do you recommend testing the accuracy?
Thanks,

The ppm side went out first so I kept it as PH only until I got the Blue Lab. The PPM would just stay on #3 all the time and wouldn't calibrate...When the PH probe went out it would never stay locked on one value it would be all over the place.I thought it was my digital ballast causing it to jump but nope...it was the pen. I would calibrate with 4 and 7 after every cycle. If your not sure get some test strips to check the accuracy every once and a while.

I bought a cheap yellow Millwaukee off Amazon. It lasted about a week before it decided my 7.0 calibration solution was around 3.6. I'm using the drops now.

+1 for Blue Lab PH meter. I bought mine a couple months back, its always calibrated, even though I check it regularly, has temperature compensation and is very well built. You get what you pay for.

Just saw that on amazon for like $214...might have to pick one up!
Get it! They have the best customer service. One of the little lights on mine on the panel was going dimmer than the rest. I called them and they sent me a new one for free and told me to keep the old one until it dies then just trash it! I didnt even have my receipt and I know I had it over 2 yrs.
