DMT, safe to take?

Hi guys,

So feel free to make fun of me, but I just heard about a drug today called DMT.

Been doing some small research and found...

- It is a natural substance that comes from a plant.
- Our own bodies release DMT when we are in deep sleep.
- When taken awake, the person feels like they are having a dream during the day.

Has anyone here taken DMT or been using it for awhile?

I know that MJ is safe, especially if consumed or vaporized, but how safe is DMT?

I have experienced use in DMT. I've made it myself and also have bought from quality vendor. You need to be really careful with it, it can change your life. While the root its extracted from is natural the process to make is not and involves solvents like naptha and a base like lye, lye is very dangerous i got burned making it by it, very awful. When you smoke it, and its not the purest it'll taste like rubber or a tire, and does not seem that healthy.
You wont die from it like from od'ing, but i OD'ed on it, 1 of 3 worst experiences in my entire life, and i've been around here and there. probably have had like 80/20 good trips to bad.

And i guess its like having a dream during the day but your awake so its totally different experience you cannot relate too. I've had some real profound and great trips from DMT that probably still have lasting effects on me. I remember feeling like i transformed into an alien or was in some other dimension, convinced of it. looking at my alien green hands and the visions around my room looked like it was another place, in the future very far away. my computer looked like some advanced alien technology as did my lighter. I remember being spoken to by what i percieved to be higher powers and being connected with some kind of different lifeform it having lasting spiritual effects on a see it to believe type of guy.

I honestly don't know if i can recommend it, and don't know if i'll do it again, sometimes i think maybe my psyche would be in a better place without it.

DMT made me that much more fearful for the unknown.

Won't try explaining effects.. there's plenty of trip reports out there.. but none of them will prepare you for what you will experience.

IMO it's not something that should be taken for "fun"
If you fight it, it will end badly.

Ensure you are comfortable with psychedelics
Make sure you get your dosages right, try get hold of a .001 scale

Found this useful for consumption if smoking. Works flawlessly

As far as health risks, don't know about physical risks such as lungs, never bothered as don't have it often enough to worry (some people use it daily - wtf?) although if you are asthmatic keep your inhaler to hand.

mental health issues would be of more concern, like mentioned above, if you are looking for answers, dmt poses further questions.

If you do breakthrough you will be completely disassociated with this dimension and returning to reality can be somewhat saddening. Whatever "it" is, it can be an amazing place or a nightmarish hell.. where you end up is up to you really.

Thanks guys for the replies.

To answer your questions, I haven't done any "drug" besides weed, so this would be a first for me in psychedelics. I have stayed away from other psychedelics because I did not want to OD or get addicted. The main reason i would want to try DMT is because of the experience.

DMT the "spirit drug" is found in almost every living organism in small quantities.
People don't often OD or become addicted to psychedelics.
It really does take a certain kind of personality to be addicted to DMT, LSD, or even mushrooms.
It's not like amphetamines or opiates in that respect.

I find a good rule of thumb is the price of drugs. Usually more addictive drugs cost more as people will pay just about anything they are addicted to.
There are exceptions like speed and MDMA, which are pretty cheap but also pretty addictive.

People will binge but rarely go through withdrawls or feel they NEED another hit after coming down off psychedelics.

Plus when "tripping", most will become very noticeably more slow or dumb... and feel it too, not being able to finish full thoughts and laughing over nothing.
Few want to be like that forever. Especially if they happen to value that intelligence. And most do as taking psychedelics is a way to expand the mind past the boundaries of both reality and spirituality and not dumb it down.

Edited that last reply, added a bit more info.

It would be much easier to "OD" on DMT because of the dosage size (if smoking/vaping) - mg

IMO it would be better to get comfortable with visual experiences before trying DMT as it could easily overwhelm the inexperienced.
Try some shrooms first :) start low

DMT is neither physically nor psychologically addictive. People tend to abuse it less than other non-addictive drugs out of pure respect. Most who have taken it will understand.

Plus the fact that psychedelics last on average HOURS on a single dose means that by the end, your body is often wracked with such exhaustion after the sometimes tiring mental experience, you just kinda want it over with.
So ya, Like Mantiszn said, small dose first to adjust for inexperience - it can be pretty jarring at first...

It's like stepping through a portal into another realm so your perception of sights, sounds, tastes, smells, feeling, as well as thought are altered to a state where your brain uses different parts than it normally does to perceive this new world.

Fist things you'll notice within an hour:
-Lights get brighter - you can see the actual light beams stretching where before the lights aura was so small you hardly noticed it.
-Things sound more clearly as if you just gained a super power.
-A great feeling of happiness and calm

Then you'll discover:
-All the colours that white light is made of.
-That you can't understand a single thing that is happening on any type of electronic screen.
-Walls moving like a heaving chest that's breathing.
-Eating feels unnatural until you get used to it again
-Everything is interesting and you can't believe you didn't see it before
-How sensitive your skin is
-That you can taste the sun (seriously)

Bad things include: From worse to least worse
-Bad trips (Bad mental well being before tripping - depressed or angry) DO NOT trip if you are depressed or angry!!!!!!!!
-Unable to tell reality is still dangerous... (POOR JUDGEMENT)
-Diarrhea (everytime no matter what...)
-Stomache aches (sometimes)

Wow, DMT is that intense huh?
Yes. DMT is the most intense drug I have done, thats for sure.. Although a big dose of mushrooms did sort of compare..

Start with smaller dosages, then work your way up. Its funny, every psychedelic can cause the most intense thing you could ever even ponder. Again and again. To anyone.
