Critical HOG Scrog Micro DIY DWC Bubble Bucket, First time. Advice welcome!

I started a journal in another forum and it is getting way less responses than I would like. So I decided to try posting it to this site =).

This is my first grow so all advice/help would be appreciated. I am using a hollowed out dresser as my "room" and CFL's for lighting. Currently I have 2 24w 2700k, 2 24w 5500k and a 105w 6500k (Comically large)light in a custom fixture. I put this all together for pretty cheap and seems to be working well right now, eventually this will house my clones when I get to that point. Planning on purchasing a tent after this grow if I feel this is a hobby I would like to keep.

So currently the grow is on day 19 and the plant looks good. I am feeding it with GH flora series and following their schedule. Currently water is sitting at 890ppm and 5.9ph. Roots looking good. I plan on doing LST/SCROG as the plant grows. Looks like I should start with in the next week or so right? Will be adding a metal grate on the bottom to tie the plant down since the top of my tote has little room to do that. I think she is looking a bit short though she is a pure indica so I guess that is to be expected. Area around the plant is sitting around the upper 70's with the water being 64 degrees.

Let me know what you think and thanks for stopping by!

Will update every other day with pictures!

Our setups are pretty similar besided lighting, i will be subbing yours. you can check out mine if you need any time references i am on my first grow too :D, i topped mine after the 4th node to make it easier to lst really. looking really healthy though dig the dresser setup very much dig you make it all yourself?, i say veg for 25 days with scrog screen will be pretty epic. Mine is g13 pineapple its showing a really indica dominant phenotype aswell

I would recommend more lighting if its possible, its gonna be great as is but you could potentially double your harvest

I gutted the dresser and created the little grow room in there. Also have the drawer fronts nailed/glued in with silicone around the joints to make it some what air tight.

I really don't know if I want to top it. I think with the lst and scrog I should be able to keep it down in height and keep the plant roughly at 12 inches tall inside there. You think that is too tall for this area? Should I keep the screen about 7/8 inches? I think the training part has me the most confused since its my first time growing and first time with this strain. I tried finding other journals with this strain but no luck, though the seed bank says its a 8-14 week plant with a 55 day flowering time. Really wondering how much this will fill up if I were to flip it in the next week or so to 12/12.

I agree that more lights would be benificial to the over all yield but as Trailing said, it already gets pretty warm in there. I do have a excuast fan on the top with a 200cfm (though does not seem to be running at full speed) fan pulling air. Could get it cooler if I drilled some holes into one of the doors for more flow. If this grow goes well I will be getting a jardin dark room II d90 and a 400w light setup.

Thanks for the input, more things that get brought up help me consider things before they happen. Reading tuts/journals only help so much.

Ya it doesn't look like its stretching at all, keeping pretty stubby at the moment.

Just bit the bullet and bought a tent (Jardin Dark Room Pro II DR90) , probably will be moving it over to that tent and flowering in there.

Looking to pick up a 600w dimmable light setup. Think heat should not be too much of a issue as I can hook it up to air ducts and it will reside in a basement. See lots of new little growth showing at nodes.

Yes! get the 600 it'll be worth it, don't worry too much about the temps if worse comes to worse you can run it at 75% or 50% people say it runs out the bulbs faster but the 600's and 400's bulbs about same price now pretty cheap.

So today is the 21st day of the grow so I changed the water and added the week 3 nutes to the grow. PPM sitting at 1190 with ph at 5.7ish. Roots really have blown up since the last picture, I want to say almost double maybe even triple the root mass after 2 days. Astonishing.

I really did not see that much growth till after comparing pictures of her. Took more close up pictures than before. She is looking really sexy, she is so short and growing tons of new under growth at nodes. I am afraid she will be to short. She is only 3 inches tall. I have to keep reminding myself that she is going to be a short plant. Every thing is going smooth and surpsied by the lack of issues I have seen.

Really wish I could pick up a 600w for flowering but don't see that happening in the next month, unless my holiday pay is way more outstanding than usual.

Just bought the 600w lights off ebay. HPS and MH. Should be here in a week or so I would think. Tent is coming Wednesday. Ya I will prob veg it till the light gets in, then flip it to veg and start scrogging then since right now with as short as she is I do not see the point of training her. Did not look at her at all today. Expecting a big growth spurt when I check in the morning.

So got home this morning and checked out Lyla, getting seriously bush like. Nodes are super close, really hopeing she decides to spring up some time soon. Spun the lights around so the other side can get some of the light, leaves looked a bit heavy on the left.Took one of the lower spectrum lights out and replaced with with another 24w 5500k light. Took some close up pictures, was really hard to get in there. Think the roots are still looking good.

PH and ppm have stayed the same since the water change on Friday.

Awesome, glad to know it just part of the strain thats keeping it that way. I am really wanting to grab some clones off her before veg since shes been such a ease to work with. Really low maintenance. My next issue will be either leaving this dwc setup in these two totes and moving them over to the new tent, or putting together a few buckets and transfering the netpot to a lid on a 5 gallon. Would just need a few parts from home depot or one of the many hydro stores around here.

Thanks for the feed back!

Just picked up a 6" inline sunlight supply fan for 50 bucks of craigslist. What filter would you guys recommend? Looks like phresh are nice, guessing the super cheap ebay ones do a bad job?

Good news and bad news =(.

Good news is I get my new light setup tomorrow =). Which is awesome and I will be set as far as lighting and cooling goes.

Though I ordered the wrong tent :wall:. I ordered the secret darkstreet dr90 2 instead of the darkroom dr90 2. So I will have to return the darkstreet and wait on my darkroom 90. Though I did setup the darkstreet one just to see the quality of their tents. It was pretty light proof. Zipped it up with me inside and there is no light entering from any where, pitch black. Also seemed like overall quality and thickness. Only issue I had is with the poles, they are kind of loose on the corners. Though it snuggs up nice with the tent over the frame. Another long week of waiting.

PPM and PH have stayed about the same. Added a gallon of water, looks like shes drinking a bit now.

Though there are some odd things on her. Like the little bit of curling up of the leaves on one node. Think it might not be getting any light from getting shadowed by the other big ass leaves above it. Also does the stems of the leaves look to yellow?
I will be removing the top on my little cabinet and putting my new light on the plant tomorrow. Have family coming in though so might have to postpone that for a day or two.

Stems look fine... As long as you keep your pH around 5.5 you will have best nute absorption. Hydro thrives on acidity to quickly use up water and nutes.

Good. Ya my when testing my ph its looking a orange yellowish so going to just keep it there. Looking to get a actual ph meter eventually but seems that lots of reviews for anything under 50 bucks seem to be a waste of money.
